- Chris Curtis grew up in Orange County, California in area rife with addiction and crime. As a child he was not protected from this reality and in fact was encouraged to be a part of it. Struggling with addiction and turning to a life of crime, Chris ended up getting sentenced to life in prison as a result of California's Three Strikes law. There he found himself in some of the most dangerous institutions in the state. He's on the show to talk about how he ended up getting out of prison with a life sentence, cleaning up and overcoming his addiction, and becoming a mentor of hope for kids just like he was.

Killin a kid because he didnt know any better does not make them tough - it makes them punks
the thought of him getting stabbed so bad that the knife went through his entire body while screaming for his mother makes me sick to my stomach
Its messed up and deranged but it is prison the kid did kill his own friends in a car crash and on top of that the KID knew what time it was , he was laced up a little bit and still chose to get that coffee from the other car even though he did county time then prison then was told already not to take anything from anyone outside of his car and he choose to do what he did on the outside and paid the worst price he could. I kicked 280 mg of methadone in county it was the worst 6-month withdrawal of my life I almost died from dehydration and seizures... Never again
Yeah you are a soldier 💪 stay strong and sober
Holy shit man that’s insane. The fact that you were on 280 mg of methadone should’ve been a crime in itself. I’m 10 years clean, was on subs for a while but I’m glad I never got on methadone. Shit is harder to kick than dope is.
@@kevinnoble7532 I'm on subs now they are working great... The methadone thing was a lot different I would be sick and every time they would raise my dose until it just adds up to too much... If I didn't detox from that I would probably still be on it
@kevinnoble7532 how was your experience kicking the subs I've been on it for about 16 months and it's time to get rid of this one last crutch but I've heard some stories about it being as bad as methadone to kick
@joshuaolander201
I had to give my subs to somebody else and do a controlled taper down over a few weeks. It still sucked but it worked for me. This was about 12 years ago. I think the fear of the unknown was the worst part. It wasn't as bad as my mind made it out to be. I just had to get some momentum, see some progress, and remind myself that this was a very important battle that I desperately wanted to win and be done with. Best wishes.

This guys story is close to mine. i turned 18 in C.Y.A. then turned 19 in Pelican Bay main line after 7mo SHU term, Paroled out of Corcoran. OC Skinhead IWB. early 90's. Lots of fucked up memories coming back. only way i got out of the system was to move to San Diego and start over.
Grew up late 90’s early 2000’s in Buena Park / Anaheim Orange County . Meth was huge you either bought or sold it . I remember from 15-19 carrying a gun on me everywhere I went and walking through knots berry farm with 6 ounce bag on me because the cops would hang on beach blvd . Shoot outs and robbery at covered wagon across the street from there was normal . Everyone thinks orange county is rich girls and Mickey Mouse but look deeper . SoCal, LA/ Hollywood was a real trip back in the mid 80s.... I was 16 bet or paths crossed! Uncut Peruvian Pink flake, Humboldt green along with this killer purple Canadian sticky bud and the best Afghani hash and oil ever was the norm. Harrisburg, LBI all pver thenplace i would go for substantial deliviers. Around town i would deliver 20s,40s and grams all day. From the time i was 13 til i met my first wife thisbwas my way of life.
I turned it ariund im 36 now with 13 years working forbthe government.
What do u do for the government + do you get drug tested

Instead of educating the kid they'd rather ruin his life even further. Great crew
Stop cutting him off dude!! God damn!

Right man so F ing Annoying
I respect the fact that Johnny pushed back on the guest trying to normalize his father giving him drugs at a very early age. That’s not normal, that’s not cool, you don’t give kids drugs, your kids or not. 80s or not the courts would’ve had some kind of sympathy.
Depends on the situation. If they're sniffing glue or something because they can get weed, I'd probably rather help them not ruin their lives. People give alcohol to kids and that's a drug and dangerous. Sugar and other foods can also kill people and giving children that can ruin their lives.
Court probably would have been more willing to assist in the 80’s-90’s because giving kids drugs back then wasn’t a normal or popular, everyday thing. Life was different then but we had heart.
@@honestsupplementsreviews2984 that is a wild take. I was in the system at 14. Everyone knew my parents were drug addicted. They even threatened to take my siblings from my mom if she didn’t leave her husband. But because I was 14, I had to face my own consequences. They did not have as much heart in the 80s and 90s. They warned people in prisons.

Chris though he had everything. And Johnny reminded him that he did not have books. Which is fair. But as we go deeper we see Chris and his hyperactivity made for a good motorcycle mechanic and electrician. And as he interview went on Chris relaxes and communicates more clearly.
