    Dude mine did the same thing when I got mine. Picked up the car from the dealer, and drove directly to my GFs work to pick her up. When I started the car again, it was in limp mode. Dealer took care of it for me so I’m pretty grateful it happened when it did.

    • @funfun5656
      @funfun5656 3 роки тому +1

      They have to in most states due to the legal concept of an "implied warranty". It always surprises me how agreeable people are to let the dealer get the upper hand on them like this.

      @@funfun5656 Agreed, if my dealer didn’t fix it I would take the car right back. Then will have to fix it before selling it again.

    Mine went out after 24 hours of owning my m3 last year, didn’t think anyone would beat me but you beat me with 3 hours lol
    But like you said you expect and budget these things, which I thankfully done. It’s the fun of owning these amazing v8 M3s!

      @SpencerBerke  3 роки тому +3

      Exactly! Lol, it's my new record. Then I got pulled over in the same 24 hours. Broke two new records with this car so far, lmao. Definitely have to plan for these things if you want to do this without too much worry. It's bound to happen!

      @@SpencerBerke lol you taking the crown! But yeah it’s what makes owning e9x m3s fun, I’m glad I got one over a turbo charged f8x m3/M4. As beautiful they look inside and out along with how much more power you can add it, their engine and exhaust tone does not hold agains to the v8 m3 tone. But each to their own and I respect both cars just down to personal preference in the end.

    • @Chris-qc9dj
      @Chris-qc9dj 3 роки тому

      @@porschefanatic1049 the dealer is a used car dealer. It’s a car out of warranty. They don’t have to give him anything. Once he signs the paper it’s his problems and all. Those m3’s are a repair nightmare if you put miles on them and enjoy them. No way around it. F80/82 are way more reliable.

    It makes me wonder if the codes were cleared just before it was sold, which would explain why the issue popped up so quickly after it exchanged hands. I literally repaired almost everything on my aa supercharged 6mt m3 2008 I had for 5 years. I did 5 track days and drove it hard. But that model m3 is very unreliable except for the actual engine. I have a stage 2 dct m4 now and I’m glad. I don’t know why you didn’t like your f80. The e92 sounds awesome but it’s older tech that breaks easily. It’s also a smelly car. At least without cats. My m4 has catless downpipes and doesn’t smell at all. It also gets better gas mileage. It’ll also out handle the e92 any day. And it has torque. As much as I liked the sound of the e92 even supercharged it was low on torque.

    It is better to use the Rebuild-UK M3 TVAs...with a Lifetime Warranty. The OEM BMW or VDO TVAs will fail again after 50k-80k miles.
    Three Tips:
    - Always replace both TVAs (Originally cost $1400 each. Now $700 each and less for the OE VDO TVAs).
    - Also replace the Fuel Tank Breather Valve nearby ($50) on top of the Idle Control Valve. Fixes the bouncing Idle.
    - If you have a high mileage BMW E9X M3 >100k miles replace the Idle Control Valve, which is known to be defective. Other parts like idle rails and hoses are also replaced. Fixes rough idle.

  • @trebm3

    Seems like a lot of people had their actuators break after buying them or seem to think so. This doesn't happen that way. There are early signs that an actuator is going out, it's not out of nowhere. The error codes can also be cleared to seem like it's the first time. Good thing is that this is an easy and relatively cheap to fix issue. You can buy rebuilt ones for under $400 each. Labor is something anyone with technical expertise can do.
