      I have a Bichon Frise, naturally I love Fiona. 😍
      I have 3 dogs, the Bichon, a Shih-tzu, and a Shih-tzu poodle mix. The 4 year old Bichon has a heart problem and the Shih-tzu is almost 8, so they're pretty mellow dogs. But the Shih-tzu is only 2 and has quite excessive energy. A 40 minute walk is enough for the first two dogs, but not for the youngest. So what I do is to play fetch when we got home, so the Shih-poo can burns her energy.

I have a bichon who is now 2.5 years old and I thought it through and did my research for a year before getting my dog. I also taught her the basic commands from 4 months old and still do obedience training with her now but adding new commands! The brother calling Jessica a bad mother, might come to realise Florence wasn't the best of mothers either. From what I learned from this video, she favoured her daughter over her son, and what kind of person takes the opportunity of their child being away to get rid of that child's beloved dog?!! That is just cruel.
    Edit to say that my dad had this happen to him when he was six. His father died and then they took away my dad's dog. My dad is almost eighty, and he still talks about it. Pets play such an important role in a child's life. They are family to them, and a great comfort. It's an absolute cruelty to just take away a child's pet, especially when they're not around to say goodbye.

She should have been aware that while she may have not have cared for the dog, her son did n his emotions should have been respected. From his story of finding out that his dog was gone, I do not blame him at all for having unresolved issues n fearing that his mother did get rid of his dog, even if it being an accident is, I'll admit, more likely

    I've seen small dogs that have worse behavior than that. I feel like it was a lot of training the humans rather than the dog in this one. Did you see how close to the edge of the counters they left food? They created the temptations. And it's pure laziness that she wouldn't walk her dog. And that crate! That was cruelty and just sheer laziness. The owner could have at least thought to put a gate up like that and then Fiona had the whole room at the very least and her toys. But the training, that's a smart pupper!

    • @m6666
      @m6666 11 місяців тому +7

      Exactly, you never use a carry crate to keep your dog in for long periods, you use a larger crate that the dog can move around and actually be comfortable. That was pure cruelty, and then never walking the poor pooch was even worse. I know why she didn't put up the baby gate, though, because she didn't want fiona to mess in her bedroom and destroy everything because that's exactly what would have happened. I'm so glad they got the help they needed.

    She doesn't walk the dog, she doesn't train the dog, she keeps her in her kennel for way too long on a DAILY basis...I just see red flags and someone who shouldn't own animals. That dog deserves someone who won't keep her kenneled for hours on end and someone who will actually walk the dog like it deserves.

    I don't understand why people choose to get a dog (and still want another dog) and don't walk them for days at a time. I think most dogs need multiple walks a day. My dog would go absolutely nuts if they didn't get walked for even one day

    • @Siures
      @Siures 4 місяці тому +2

      EVERY dog I know is walked at least 3 times a day. Most a fourth time before going to sleep just for peeing around the corner. In Germany you just KNOW that you cannot have a dog if you work or go to school full-time (or you pay people to walk the dog in the middle of the day).

    Fiona is so sweet! We had family farm dogs - aka, big, outdoor, keep the bear, moose and other animals off the yard kinda dogs - growing up. It was scoffed at and considered frivolity to have an indoor dog that “had no purpose”. I broke the mold at nearly age 50 and got my first puppy about a year ago, after spending almost 2 years researching what kind of dog would suit me, as well as how to train it and provide it the best care possible. I chose a Bichon Frise, and I LOVE her!!! She is extremely smart, fun, spunky, obedient, and an amazing cuddly companion. I never would have thought it possible for a dog to learn so many things in such short time, or to be so attuned to how I am feeling and she brings me so much joy. I am not healthy enough to work out of the house, and so I am at home almost all the time. There hasn’t been a time that she has been left in her crate yet, though I suppose there may come a time it is necessary. I would expect, though, that someone I love and trust would take over her care rather than me just leaving her alone. One thing that just astounds me about her is how much she simply adores me! I’m serious - she follows my every move, and I’m “her person.” She bases every decision she makes (minus a few very doggy-inspired instantaneous impulses here and there) on how she can illicit a pleasant response from me. I would be so sad to ever make her feel abandoned, even for a short time, and hope I never need to leave her alone and confused without a trusted person caring for her. It’s the very least I can do for her tender sweet puppy heart.

      That's impressive! The crate is just a sleeping and treat spot for my dog. I do my best to spend all the time I can with her but I can't be at home 24/7. My corgi is extremely sassy sometimes

    Crate training dogs is a good thing... if you fulfil their needs before you crate them.
    This means exercise, poo and pee .... imagine holding your bladder for 8hrs during the day when you're wide awake. Geesh.

    Man, I hope those ladies listen to that guy, he seems to have about the most sense in that group. Learning about the crate was quite sad and I don't get why she thought another dog would be a good idea when she wasn't initially willing to walk the one she had, but his, "But sure, let's call the dog expert lady" I told you so moment was pretty great. I hope they stuck with the changes because they all deserve a better living situation than what they started out with especially that poor smart animated pup.
