I was a kid when this show was popular and wow! They were so cool! Looking back - the characters are unforgettable. Esp. Tuesday Weld!
You have a great library you are sharing. Nostalgia is fun but when backed up by great acting and writing it’s essential to lasting greatness. Thank you. Excellent episode.
Original unaired version of pilot episode, featuring a pitch to potential sponsors at the end [those who were convinced to sponsor the show after seeing this were Philip Morris {Marlboro}, and Pillsbury {cake mixes, flour, et. al.}]. In the series, William Schallert replaced Herbert Anderson as "Leander Pomfritt", because Anderson was signed to play Dennis Mitchell's father (Henry) on "DENNIS THE MENACE", which also premiered that fall.
Barry, I am astounded by your depth of knowledge on these programs. I really appreciate your comments!
You're VERY welcome!
I believe that the actor playing Davey Gillis is Ron Ely of TARZAN fame since Dwayne Hickman's real-life brother Daryl played the role, briefly, during the show's first season.
Michael Landon, Troy Donahue, and Tab Hunter were all considered for the role of Dobie Gillis
At 14:25 what are separate Ricardos on a flaming sword? A special dessert?
I thought this dam show was colorized.
Sorry about that...
