POV: How To Use Launch Control in DSG / S Tronic

- Step by step how to engage Launch Control standard feature on R model and GTI versions (possible others also) with the famous DSG - Direct Shift Gearbox, there are some minor variations of this for later model vehicles.
test vehicle is 2010 VW Passat R36 Variant (wagon) - Наука та технологія
Its weird that the new 7spd dsg (atleast on my car) doesnt hold the rpms so flat. It bounces up and down between 2800-3000. It also slightly lurches the car forward up onto the suspension. Its tuned but it also did it from the factory. Weird. Maybe its just better to have the clutch slightly applied
Same with VW CC, V6, 300HP, 2016
My old 2007 VW Caddy TDI can hold it at 4000rpm. Sounds awesome being fully deleted too
This is awesome. Is this with a malone tune?
No - this is absolutely standard feature in many DSG cars. This car is an R36 Wagan
ja bruder wassermelone
Sounds so good ...I got the 2010 sport all stock with 2000watt audio upgrade
I want to start with loud turbo noise and then move on to exhaust..
Any good ideas for Budget build for now?????
definitely do a cold air intake with a separate air box and a cat back exhaust
@@colin6109 Thank you... will do 👍👍
As an old codger, I always start with brakes. I have the '10 sport with the 6MT and the stock brakes (especially the rears) are prone to excessive wear and fading. I went with cross-drilled, slotted front and rear with ceramic pads. Then, ECS Stage II clutch and 034 Motorsports rear main seal. That way, all the bits that fail with added boost are taken care of before any modding. The 034 can take almost 40lbs of boost. But, like I said, I'm old. :D
@@mcseforsale 😂😂cool Thank you
if you want a cold air intake, you need one that will fit flush against the hood when closed and incorporates the factory intake for the box filter as your intake. There's no restriction at all until you get to the factory filter, If you just throw in a pod filter and suck engine bay air into it you will 100% lose power, even with a bigger intake pipe behind that filter. You need to understand it has a factory cold air intake into a very unsporty, but still properly sealed, box filter. VW knew coming onto the design board how important cold air is to a turbo engine and designed their intake accordingly. Use the existing mounts to make a custom box, make good DIY seals in eth box for the intake plumbing to exit and let cold air come in through the intake at the top of the grill as it was designed to and you can get the fully sick pod filter induction noises without literally losing power for some earcandy.
RHD and metric speedo? I believe that's Australia. Correct me if I'm wrong.
You are correct :)
Here in Ireland we have the same set up, right hand drive and metric speedo but we don't have R36 🤣
I have a superb vr6 and I followed the same procedure but the rpms only climb till 1500 rpm and post that it looses power. Can you suggest what could be wrong?
I think that this Superb doesn't have Launch Control. That'll probably be the reason.
Was Traction control off?
you have to first rev it in neutral and just as you leave the brake pedal shift to sports mode.
do my audi have it ? its a audi q3 2.0 s-tronic
that was fast
If you think that’s fast you have no idea what a super car is
@@skirrt he probably thought it was mph
@@skirrt it was fast
Is it good for the gearbox?
Well it’s a factory enabled feature - I’m sure they did some pretty comprehensive testing before putting it into mass produced cars. Whilst I wouldn’t use it at ever set of traffic lights, occasional use would be safe, especially if your on top of all preventative maintenance.
do u have any idea if its possible with 2015 passat 1.8t 180hp B8 to make launch control? (dsg 7)
Yeah same question i have a 2011 passat cc 2.0 turbo
@@thefinisher8193 yes I have done it in my 2014 vw cc rline/luxury and does work I thought what with the parking break but yes does work amazing
Perfect i will try it soon 😂
@@thefinisher8193 but make sure your timing chain was done and is good as it puts a toll on it and the dsg I wouldn’t do it a lot
I have a beautiful R36 and drive no faster than say 95 km's an hour also not on the Freeway (2200 to 2400 rev's). So to me this video looks pretty alien but is there any risk of damage to the engine and/or gearbox doing this "catapulting" thing ? It should have been designed to do this I'd say ? I don't like high rev's that much myself.
Hi Jan, yes I know I have seen your many posts about this. They are absolutely designed for it, it’s an OEM feature, I wouldn’t be doing it every single set of traffic lights, but it’s there to have fun, the whole car is there to have fun the way you want. So drive it the way you want to, if that’s like a grandpa or a P plater, the car can take it as long as you maintain it properly.
@@ThatCarChannelOfficial Thank You Car Channel ! I will just do it now and then maybe a bit more modest than here just to keep the engine "clean" because of my modest driving style. I am 69 so a far cry from a P plater (who are not allowed to drive this car in QLD) and certainly at high speeds (if they were allowed) I can't react fast anymore. I feed it 98 Petrol and maintain it with a garage specialized in European cars. I had the gearbox fluid replaced 14.000 km's ago.
My real passion is when you click my channel button 😄Cheers, Jan
Does this work with the 2014 vw t5 sportsline 180bhp
Does it have a DSG trans? If it’s a wet clutch DSG, maybe
i have a CC vr6 4 motion with 6 speed dsg. when i try to do this the car jerks forward a tiny bit and doesnt like to rev up.
Is the oil temp above 75 deg? I have heard they have this feature.
@@ThatCarChannelOfficial i tried it soon after a cold start. oil was definitely cool. When i put it in sport, turn off esp, and depress both petals, the car moves forward very slowly
@@Zed86zz ur car need to be warm, my clubsport gti has to reach 100 degree celcius for the oil temp
@@eshkenzi i tried it yesterday with the engine warmed up and had the same result. depressing the brake and then gas pedal causes the car to move forward slowly with the engine struggling against the brakes.
@@Zed86zz u sure it had reached 100 degrees on oil temp? not coolant but oil
Only for DSG 6 (DQ 250)
And what is with the DSG 7 (DQ500 and DQ381)
Not ea888?
@@niceyao888thats the engine not gearbox
With stock 2011 vw Jetta tdi?
It’s petrol because it has 8000rpm and diesel can only do 6000rpm
With DSG, yes
@@harism-s1509 Petrol only 7000rpm mate, (yes the tachometer says 8000rpm but you can't reach it)
this is not an automatic converter but a DSG from VW, prefers to leave such games he can hardly manage his 100,000km without problems even without an LC
how to do on older r36 model?
Same
I tried this in my manual nothing happened
You need to put it in R to work in a manual

can i do it in my 2.0 tdi :D dsg
Yes with a wet clutch

Lol that was slow😅
lol you are idiot 😅
Um he’s right that’s slow for a car with launch control
