      Laci is still a feminist, she's not red pilled; and she hasn't apologized at all either. So really, just because she is having an open dialogue with people she disagrees with (which should be the bare minimum that we expect of people in my opinion) does *not* mean that she is red pilled. I mainly think she is doing this because she can see which way the wind is blowing in terms of money and she is heading in that direction. I still think this is a good thing, but let's be honest about what's happening here; Lac isn't doing this because she's changed, she's cynically doing it because she's chasing the money train. She's basically Hillary Clinton with a nice face, a bubbly personality and big boobs.

    I'm really bothered by the fact that a man is going to jail over a joke. I didn't like his joke, but that entirely violates free speech. It wasn't hate speech, it wasn't directed towards any person. I understand that free speech laws might be different in the UK, but it doesn't make it anymore rational.

      The UK doesn't have free speech though, people get arrested for saying offensive things all the time, especially in Scotland, a man was arrested and charged for "revving his car engine in a racist manner", which basically means he revved his engine near a foreign person who didn't like that so called it racist.
      The country is an absolute joke.

    I love the Defranco fanbase. Every day it's different. On one video I'll scroll down and the comments will be filled with the most cancerous shit with nothing more productive than petty name calling. And then the next video will be filled with commentors picking apart what was said in the video in the most level headed, analytical way. There's still disagreements but they're civil and thought provoking in the best way. And then there's other videos where it appears everyone agrees, or at least just seem to be in the mood to give hugs all around. Love it, hate it, or just be kinda "meh", the comment section here is always interesting :P

    I wish I could give Laci credit for trying to engage with other opinions, but I watched her 2.5 hour talk with Blaire White and it came off as so disingenuous. To me, she came across very condescending, and she seemed more interested in trying to prove she was right rather than actually engaging with the arguments/opinions Blaire was making. And for the record, I'm not an antifeminist, and there's a lot of stuff Blaire says that I disagree with, but I think if Laci wants to put on this new face of being a changed person and wanting to understand other perspectives, she's going to have to try harder.

    • @channingjulien
      @channingjulien 7 років тому +21

      +Gavin Gill
      Don't get me wrong, I think Laci is doing a lot more than many other SJWs by even being willing to sit down with those who are her philosophical antithesis. I just think if you're going to claim that you want to start engaging with other perspectives (even those you're diametrically opposed to), at the very least you need to come at it without the purpose of proving why you're right, and that's the vibe I got from her talk with Blaire. Granted, I'm fully aware that is could just be my read of the thing, and I have only seen the one interaction between her and Blaire so it's probably not an entirely fair assessment. I don't need her to change her position on anything, I just want to see her engage with the opposing perspective in a way that's more than 'I appreciate that you think that, but here's why you're wrong', and so far I haven't really seen that. But hey, I'm always willing to be optimistic, and I think it's a good first step.

      Spank You can't prosecute a foreign dignitary if they are under diplomatic protection.
      The very worst we can do is eject them from the country.
      It's a shit response but it's a rule that protects our diplomats abroad as well.

    • @gorisenke
      @gorisenke 7 років тому +3

      YoshiIkagawa
      That's understandable, but I'd think it's a hard pressed argument to call his guard diplomats. Maybe all they could do to the Turkish president is eject him and ban him, that's frustrating but fine, but we should be able to prosecute the guards all the same. That was a hate crime against US citizens and just as diplomats are protected, there's probably a law that keeps a foreigner from shooting up locals and then claiming diplomatic immunity at an embassy. Of course that's not what happened, no guns were used, but if the guards get away with it, it's an abuse of the system.

    • @priusdriver699

The lion whisperer - he's a guy who works in a lion sanctuary in Africa and simply has the most beautiful relationships with the animals (lions and hyenas) to the point where he could comfortably play and cuddle with them and actively speaks out for the animals. Even taking in another two cubs a few years ago. He spends so much time caring and maintaining relationships with the animals and will care for them for the rest of the animals lives. He is truly admirable, I don't know anyone else who deserves a shout out more then him since all the ad rev goes to the animals he cares for

You honestly have the ability to change this world and I will gladly support anything you do. You not only present both sides of a story but you even express your opinion which too many news organizations are too scared to say up front. You actually do your due diligence and fact check all of the stories you present and I find that amazing. Not only because most other news organizations don't bother just because they want to break the story first but also because you care about your audience/ people of the world enough to do so. I am 23 and you have changed what I expect from a news organization. I strive to be as an amazing/ honorable person as you and wish I could work for someone like you. I have an accounting degree so if you ever need an accountant or just someone to do your dirty work feel free to send me an email. Stay awesome you beautiful bastard.

    Please keep making the Friday show. Even if it has to be on Saturday or Sunday. It really exemplifies the conversation idea that this channel has. Where it isn't just you telling us the news but, us, even if it's just a few, talking in some kind of way. Makes you seem more human, and makes us feel like you listen and that you care about what we think and say. It's the closest thing I think we can get to a twitch chat interaction kind of thing. So please keep doing it, and if possible, maybe make them a little bit longer. (I know that isn't feasible but it's still a hope I have.

    A cue is (1) a signal prompting an event or action, especially in a performance; and (2) the long stick used to strike the cue ball in billiards and pool. The word also works as a verb meaning give a cue. A queue is (1) a line of people waiting for something, and (2) a hair braid worn down the back of the neck. As a verb, queue means get in line or place in line. Both these homophones are often used with up-cue up meaning prepare [something] to start on cue, and queue up meaning get in line.
    Queue is rare in American English. And when American writers use it, it’s sometimes spelled cue-for example:
    A younger brother, Garret, is also in the cue. [Our Colorado News]
    The musicians cueing up to salute Paul McCartney at MusiCares were nervous enough about doing justice to their hero’s classics. [USA Today]

    There's a picture circulating right now related to the whole turkey thing that's just... so satisfying...
    Basically the backstory behind it is that the Turkish Foreign Minister decided to go to The Netherlands for the same reason the Turkish President was visiting America. The Dutch government don't like this much, and basically say "No, we don't want you in our country." Turkish Foreign Minister essentially says "Fuck you guys, I'm visiting whether you like it or not."
    The picture is of a car containing the Turkish Foreign Minister completely fucking surrounded by Dutch riot police and it's the best thing.

    The fact that people defend Danny Mathers and think she didn't do anything wrong is actually upsetting. Why are so many people so fucking unsympathetic? It actually frightens me how little people care about each other.
    And if nothing happens to those body guards, if no actions are taken for this assault on American citizens enacting their constitutional right to peaceful protest then it will also show how little the government cares about their own citizens. As a Canadian looking in to this whole situation it really does upset me that those two thugs in suits might get away scott free with this, just because you are the bodyguard of a foreign power does not give you the right to assault the citizens of another country.

    This isn't the first time there has been issues around what should and shouldn't be covered by diplomatic immunity. In NZ there was a case where a Malaysian staff meber of a diplomat broke into a woman's home and indecently assualted her. She reported this to the police who charged him with burglary and assault with intent to rape, but someone said he had diplomatic immunity and he was sent back to Malaysia by their government. However, when it came out publically that this had happened there was an uproar. Eventually Malaysia extradited him back to NZ to face charges.
    Diplomatic immunity is important, but it should never be used as a "Get out of jail" free card for people who assault the citizens of the country they are living in.

    Tariq is only known for being outrageous, it's all he has to offer, nothing else is brought to the table by him. He's the Skip Bayless of social relations which in itself is terrifying because somehow, Bayless is still somewhat relevant.
    Either way, he's a waste of time and acknowledging his comments in any medium is waste of personal time. Instead, you could be frolicking in a field of daisies, Phil.

      Last I checked those fools had already left the country so short of sending a CIA hit team to Turkey unfortunately we probably won't be able to do anything. Of course the main stream media is so moronic in their search to find anything Trump related they won't ever cover this story.

    I truly thought that was the route they were going with that McDonald's commercial! that the ending was going to be that the kids dad was Ronald...and I'm happy I wasn't the only one whose brain went there. (i apologize, this comment isn't much of an important contribution to the conversation...but I felt compelled to share it.)

    The problem I see with that particular refutation of "boys will be boys" is that the phrase isn't used to excuse bad behavior. It's to reconcile it. It's fairly understood that boys are more boisterous than girls, this leads to a disproportionate amount of correctional penalty towards boys for their behavior. It's not excused, what happens is that in reconciling that "boys will be boys" they resort to medications like Ritalin. Contrary to what that comment says about what we expect from girls, their poor behavior is more frequently excused.

    • @MrHws5mp
      @MrHws5mp 7 років тому +11

      Exactly. 'Boys will be boys' is used to _explain_ certain kinds of boys' behaviour but it only excuses them up to a certain line. if they cross that line, then punishment will come fast. Honestly, I wonder if ANY boy has had the experience of 'getting away with murder' because 'boys will be boys'? It seems like more of a radical feminist fantasy than an actual fact...

      As a female with a brother I heard "boys will be boys" said by my parents when my brother would be loud, obnoxious, or violent. If I were to do any of those things I didn't hear "girls will be girls" instead I was told I was not acting right and that I needed to get it together or else no one would want to be around me. That's why I personally don't like that phrase and I know I'm not the only one who has experienced it being used that way.

    • @Zoltan1251
      @Zoltan1251 7 років тому +3

      +Servescia.... that is kinda wrong.... but we dont know specifics of what your brother is exactly doing..... "boys will be boys" is not excuse... it represents different mentality of boys... for example a boy drew a battlefield with people fighting with swords in arts class and they brought in parents that there is something wrong with their kid.... i mean, WTF????!!!... or boys likes rock music being played loud...
      boys like different things and one of those things are playing soldiers and playing competitive games.... difference is that you have to teach boys to fight for being good, being competitive and then shake hands with opponents.... good example is Canada and hockey... boys have fist fight during a match and go have a beer.... thats where it should be pointed out "boys will be boys"... i think you just misunderstand the term

      I also find that girls are more often excused for bad behavior than boys. I grew up knowing alot of other kids in different areas because I moved alot. An the things they let girls get away with is ridiculous.
      I knew one 14 year old girls who beat a 5 year old boy with a tennis racket until he bled and she was only told she wouldn't get ice cream and that she should try and behave, after which she locked herself in a car and started blaring the horn for an hour. Never received punishment.
      I knew an 8 year old young girl who would regularly call her mother an attention whore and would regularly call child protective services to punish her mother when she ignored her tantrums. She never received punishment.
      I knew multiple 13 year old girls who hit on their English teacher with love letters and lewd comments in class until he was forced to resign. Never received punishment.
      I knew 3 9 year old girls who would steal soccer balls from 6 year old kids playing soccer and beat up on the first person who asked for it back. Never received punishment from adults, but did receive punishment from kids.
      These are just some of my more memorable ones but they are far from the only ones I've experienced personally. What makes them so aggravating is that they went completely ignored by adults who excused the behavior and did not punish them.
      Meanwhile if a boy draws Godzilla fighting a castle of knights he is sent to the school shrink for 2 hours for a period of 3 weeks, who then asks them draw flowers and ponies (actually happened to me). An I met alot of other boys there for other stupid reasons like 2 boys who where playing sumo in recess both being forced to take several hours of training in "non violent interactive play" after which their parents received strong recommendations to have them medicated by said shrink. Another boy who spoke too loudly and had to be "taught" how not to speak unless directly asked a question and even then only in hushed passive tones.
      An people wonder why boys hate public school so much more than girls. Schools have essentially become a social gathering place not a place of learning. Staff is more concerned about silent play involving low talk about unicorns then about rough housing or physical/example teaching.

      +Servescia Same same. To be honest, my brother was always a super quiet kid, and I was the trouble maker, and my dad would get mad and yell at him because he didn't think the same way as him. He would yell at him all the time to be louder and more assertive because in my fathers opinion he wasn't behaving like boys should. And I know it gave my brother allot of issues with anxiety and resentment. I mean, not that this should even matter, but my brother was an athletic kid, and he made friends well, and didn't let anyone push him around. He was just quiet and sweet and soft-hearted, and I think it's really horrible that people still believe that boys are naturally more wild and unruly, and that my self possessed little brother was therefore less natural.

    • @AlienZizi
      @AlienZizi 7 років тому +8

      i see your point but feminism started off worse, as white women used racism to point out that ''black men can vote but white women can't''
      white feminists didn't care about inclusiveness until recently.
      so you can make a point that a lot of ''feminists'' are getting too close to or even crossing the line of misandry but feminism as a whole is better now than before. the worst ones are just the loudest, even if they're a minority.

    I relate to Laci Green a lot currently, as a young teenager discovering my identity and what I stand for, I found Laci in her Sex+ days where she was primarily sex positive sexual education vids and I loved her. So when she branched into more SJW stuff, it was easy for me to mindlessly follow and I got so absorbed in it. Though I consider myself to be really liberal, I have DEFINITELY stepped back from being an SJW be abuse I took moment to actually open my mind to other people's perspectives! So to see her realise the same, I'm pretty willing to believe this is genuine cus I know how it feels when it happens :)
