My Bloody Valentine interviewed on "Rockin in the UK" January 24th 1989.. Full show recorded by me onto Scotch EG+ L750 video tape, using a Sony SLHF950 Beta HiFi VCR.
A promo was shown throughout this interview, I edited it out due to a copyright claim which had previously blocked this video from view.

Colm's drumming on Isn't Anything is one of the coolest things about that record. He plays almost entirely by feel and emotion, the tempos are all over the place, but the feel is immaculate.

At this point they were really nobodies. They had only released one album that was not incredibly popular and a few EP's.

False modesty is a thing amongst indie artists, actually makes them seem really pretentious. I'm not denying their briliance, KS is a genius, just their inability to recognise how good they are....kind of held them back from being even more amazing I think.

That’s what I like about MBV. They weren’t “punks” who tried too hard to look cool and disrespected interviewers. They were rather awkward actually and it was in their sound that they were musically rebellious.

It's pretty great that people with insight like you exist in the world. It's great you had a quality beta deck to record too as well. This would likely be lost to history otherwise, as so much other stuff is.

Yeah its a pain, but on the original tape, it was so difficult to make out what they were saying, so I had to tinker to get their words almost audible.
