      Lush's first gig was only 6 months earlier, and they hadn't even been signed. They were still a noisy punk band playing opening slots at the Falcon.
      Lush apparently had already opened for MBV (and the Pastels) at the Fulham Greyhound in June of this year, and they had borrowed Colm's kit for a show at the Falcon on Oct 9th because the drummer for the headliners Sun Carriage refused to let Chris use his kit. Miki knew Kev well because he was Emma's boyfriend thru 1987. Emma also had worked for Creation's publicist. And Miki was also a student at PNL where this gig is.

    Could a group this strange and special exist today? MBV were one of the most creative, inventive groups in the world in 1988, admired only by a coterie of music-heads, and performing in the back of a Waffle House for 20 people. This anonymity gave them the time and room to develop into something extraordinary and truly unique.

Although, you could argue that both of these artists are sort of music revivalists in a way MBV weren’t. But I’m not suggesting there’s a lack of talent today, I was just wondering if it’s possible to have a sustained “underground” scene for more than a few weeks anymore. As soon anyone comes up with anything vaguely interesting it’s immediately documented, hyped, proliferated, copied, etc.

      @@xavierd.1668 Minute 14:56 you can see a red/orange head holding a cigarette, a girl with asian features that resembles Miki; due to the haircut, the pale skin, the face and the way she holds the cigarette it is very likely (obviously likely) it is her. I wouldn't dare to say that Lush is among the audience, tho Miki seems to have been there ,in perhaps, not the most sober state.

    @devoarepunk 2 роки тому +64

    Sad that everytime Bilinda is mentioned in these comments its about her looks or how "cute" she is. I rarely see people talking about her genius and acknowledging that she is one HELL of a guitarist and arguably the most important aspect of this legendary band. Shes a grade A badass and its so annoying how women in rock are rarely appreciated for anything other than their physicality or attractiveness.

    • @carlodave9
      @carlodave9 2 роки тому

      I would very much disagree. It’s because she kicks ass that makes her hot as hell. If she worked in a shoe store people would barely notice her.

    • @devoarepunk
      @devoarepunk 2 роки тому +3

      @@carlodave9 not my point, you can talk about and mention how she kicks ass but you dont need to include any comments about how "hot she is", all i see is that, i barely see anyone saying "god shes such an awesome guitarist". And no if she worked at a shoe store (?) shed only have weirdos commenting on her looks.

    I have no clue why, but for some reason in this clip Debbie always looks to me like she should be in Star Trek the Next Generation as a deck officer on the Enterprise. Something to do with her haircut and face, I just picture her in a Starfleet uniform on a mission with Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes.
