Following a review last month of Fallout 4, we now take flight with Starfield's wealth of new modes, graphical updates and improvements on Xbox Series X and PC. Performance is MASSIVELY improved. It’s actually playable now on console.

It really is night and day how much better 60fps feels. CRAZY better. The frame rate drops can be wildly dramatic though in the middle of town...but the scaler they are using is likely from ID team, and it works WONDERFULLY. Everything is still sharp, the signage looks fantastic also.
The game needed another year...i knew the 60fps update was coming near the 1yr anniversary. Even better that its not.
Bro it needs like 5 years to make it interesting.

Oddly enough watching the Fallout show made we want to give Starfield another try
What they don't mention (strangely) in the video is that performance mode + 60 fps on the series x is around 60 fps or 55-60 fps the vast majority of the time. Akila and New Atlantis are the two major exceptions, that is why it is strange that they get fixated on Akila during this video. You spend a very small part of the game there. Basically all other planets and cities, including Neon will be around 60 fps just like all space combat scenes.
My advice if you have a regular 4K tv and a series x: play it on performance mode, 60 fps.
Dragons dogma and red dead 2 please do the same 60 fps should be the bare minimum 🤦🏾♂️

Red dead 2 is fine lol, you can 80+ fps easy with 30/40 nvidia gpu’s

Real question. Now that IGN has its hands on Eurogamer and therefore some shares of Digital Foundry, do you think they will mess with Rich & the rest team to boost IGN's own tests? I'm generally pretty neutral in regards of taking sides or getting all hot headed about corporate acquisitions, but DF has been such a benchmark for real quality content that just thinking about the possibility of IGN "advising a new course of action to increase viewership and mass appeal or engagement" makes me really mad.

This game runs butter smooth on my rtx 2070 suuper at high settings with amd fsr3 frame generation on.... Get around 85 to 90 fps, sometimes even 100+

Can someone please tell me why the flashlight is 3rd person still points to the ground and serves no purpose?? And why does my jet pack disappear and re-appear?? This is poor and baffling that it’s still not fixed

Why? At the time the game was running terribly above 30fps so it was definitely smart to lock it

The games fundamentally boring. After 3 days of playing there's literally nothing left to do. All we wanted was skyrim in space.
This made the game SO much better. Many improvements to planet hopping as well…
If you’ve already been to a planet/landed, then you can fast travel directly there without having to go back to the planets orbit first (removed like 2-3 extra loading & sequence steps)

The amount of raw power available versus what is being delivered here is abysmal , Starfield should be a rock solid 60fps on SeriesS nevermind SeriesX there is nothing groundbreaking happening here it looks average , on a decent PC it should be absolutely flying it's just a badly optimised game full stop

Visual mode on 60fps lock is amazing. Only the haters will deny it because they're pony players of course. Real fans know this update made this game earn another playthrough.

It's funny how 30 fps was a creative design choice that gave gamers a cinematic experience, but fast-forward a few months later, and they drop a 60 fps patch. 😂

Returnal runs at 1080p and drops to 45 fps with a next gen engine...

All the time and money spent optimizing small details for random PC setups is a waste of resources. Lock it at 30 and give us content worth playing. who cares if it runs at 60 or 90 FPS with better dust particles if the game is stale so soon after launch. It’s built on Creation engine…it’s never going to be super smooth all of the time.
