For what it’s worth, I usually don’t catch the livestreams “live,” but I love this format. I also love the produced videos. As someone who knows more about pokemon than all of his friends, family, and loved ones, it’s awesome seeing someone turning their own passion for pokemon into a career. Keep it up man! Your content gets better every time I’m able to tune in.
i think my favorite accidental bit is when scott forgets jasmines name in the moment, but then proceeds to call like 2 or 3 other characters "jasmine" after that without even noticing
Missed the stream, but waking up to Churro cam is not only welcomed but encouraged. As for T-Tar, honestly, I'm not surprised he is so good. I'm just surprised at how much of the game is set up for him to just mow through. I know he's arguably the greatest Pseudo. It's just shocking he destroys his home game as if he were a full legendary. GF really did main him on all their competitive teams, clearly.
Professor Scott isn’t the worst, but does not have the alliteration of Super Nerd Scott. I would probably also recommend Super Nerd Scott because his persona seems more Super Nerd than Professor in the likable, self-deprecating way.
This thread caused me to cackle ferociously BUT! I humbly submit that Scott gon' have to adopt a tree species as a name to be legitimately. Allegedly. 🤷🏾 I don't make the rules, argue with Game Freak lol
The routing updates in this and the Dragonite run were super interesting. Really feels like you're making use of every tool available to optimize this one especially, which is awesome. Gives me a new perspective to one of my favorite mons!
You've been getting so much better at these, even the livestreams are getting better and better. Your mastery over these games really shines in your commentary. Soon I'll be able to support you on patreon, can't wait to get all the extra stuff! Keep it up!
1:45:45 Ah yes, Rock Dark Dragonite, my favourite flavour hehehe~ Loving this stream so far. I found that person saying the streams are boring rather strange, because yeah they could just not watch if it wasnt for them. The streams have different strengths which lets them appeal to a different type of viewer and thats wonderful actually c:
Chunks: 1. 0:00-1:06:58, replaythrough has just healed at Mt. Silver; 2. 1:06:54-2:17:50, run umpteen is headed to get the starter; 3. 2:17:50-3:42:46, FINALLY back at... well, the Mahogany Rocket plotline, but still, MAHOGANY!! :) 4. 3:42:46-end, still finishing but am like 10min from the end.
Truthfully, I really dislike live streams in general. BUT!!! Scott yours are solid, and it doesn’t feel awkward and I actually enjoy watching them afterwards. I think the way you did this one is genuinely great and I enjoyed it. Great job keep up the good work! As well as the produced stuff!
I'm a trucker, so the livestreams are my favorite videos since they're good & long. especially the ones where you talk about music & your experiences from school. I'm a strings guy too, just more bluegrass than classical😉 keep up the good content
Personally, I think picking up runs at certain points takes away from what makes you so good as a content creator. Your persistence is a great quality. Might as well just do assisted runs at that point.
talking about i dont like livestreams i do like backports or w/e is pointless because Scott can see the view metrics. He already knows what we generally prefer to watch.
Not really, he does take feedback c: If streams arent for you though feel free to just not watch them, or only watch the bits you enjoy; Scotts fully produced content wont go anywhere That being said if you have some specific points that would make the streams more enjoyable for you im sure that feedback would be welcome c: Just be polite y'know c:
I will go into specific reasons if you ever want me to. But... I much prefer your live streams rather than your produced content. Keep up the good work.
I love the collab vids. Getting to be exposed to other members of the community through u is really awesome . And i am in bad time zone and can only catch vods on youtube. Vods on youtube (even if a seperate channel) would be appreciated for us in East Asia.
~2:30:00 -- Tyrannataur a top tier Pokémon with an EXTREMELY haunted early game.. Here's hoping you manage to get off that second run in this 4 hour stream 🤞
~3:04:00 Rip Tyrannataur to Ladyba, courtesy of Confusion, I see why RBY Pokémon Challanges/GSC Pokémon Challanges likes that strat for his min battles runs. Guessing confusion + poison + attract is only possible thing worse (or maybe paralysis, confusion, attract). Here's hoping this guy's luck turns around in the last 90 minutes
Here’s an idea I had about how you could approach these… 1. Do your first run like you do now. 2. Take what you learned and optimize the route like you do now 3. Play through the optimized route a few times to determine that it’s viable. 4. Once you’re happy with the route, instead of having to grind over and over for the perfect run, just do one final run using the optimized route, this time with save states. This would still give your videos the story and sense of progression they do now, but you wouldn’t be forced to play the same run over and over again for days.
Yes, but it would invalidate the entirety of his existing tierlists. and would require him to choose another primary metric as real time is his primary metric.
@@rainbowskin3379yes, but he already has the optimized route for every mon. Every pokemon on the existing tier list would need one more play through, something that could be easily done on stream. In a single 4 hour stream you could probably get at least 3 reranked. Also I think real time would still be the optimal metric. I guess instead of save states rewinding might be a better way to put it; like being to redo a single turn; it would still accumulate time, but would be much faster and have less impact than full resets. Just a button that rewinds the game by half a second could work.
It seems like the move for balancing the tier list would be to fit a normal distribution to the times, and then the resulting bins would just have different times. This would also help show just how much of an outlier the best/worst performers are.
I got my sons into watching your channel and they love it! One of them, his favourite poke on is Snom and asked when you would be doing that one. I told him not for a while since it is a Gen 8 pokemon, so you'll have a fan for a long time if you keep doing them
I was wondering what Pokémon I should backport tonight, and I think this settles it. I also love Snom and I guess it’ll get a chance in Pokemon Yellow sometime in 2025
Yep, I agree. Professor Scott. I was going to wait to make a comment about calling you that until you were closer to beating all yellow Pokemon. If Professor Oak can be a professor without catching them all, even in Kanto, you should get to call yourself that once you beat Yellow with every type. The real question is what your specialty would be. Oak's is Pokemon ecology, Birch studies habitats, and Elm studies breeding. Would you say you study Pokemon growth potential?
I was at the part where someone mentioned Rocktober, and I just had Reptember pop into my head. I don't know if it is for reptile pokemon or for fighting types hitting reps in the gym but I thought I should put this idea here
Tyranitar had the sauce but Scott didn’t have the luck. I really do think this makes a case for the theory that having the right coverage is a lot more important that marginal stat lose from having sub optimal DVs in Gen 2, no matter how bad it feels. The elekid example really shows that move pool is king, stats are THAT important if you just have the tools for everything.
Who would win: a Rock kaiju with enough anger to make it an integral part of itself with base stats that rival most legendary Pokemon and has been OU/Uber for most of its existence, or one ladybug?
I don't know if there is lots of work, but just for the meme, for April fools you could change all gym lider sprites and names for "Jasmine". Like "Rock Hard Jasmine", "Psiquic Jasmine", "Surf Jasmine"... It could be quite funny if the meme goes on in streams
"Here we go, Jasmine time". Wait, you already beat the underground rival... * looks * Oh it's Clair :) * Later * Buh-bye Jasmine! (Just beat Karen) * Later in chat * Everyone is Jasmine Exorcising some kind of Jasminophobia by calling every lady boss Jasmine :)
The only thing that is "worrysome" about making re-dos is the unbalanced ammount of them that you do with certain pokémon. Of course Tyrogue is bad but... maybe it can get a better time if you re-do it a few times... Edit: You should do the re-dos using a base of other run. You spent a lot of time sometimes doing the same "not interesting" interactions. Ex: Taking the pokémon from Elm and reaching the Egg Professor and going back to fight ???
Scott is hidden power physical or special and could you do hidden power psychic instead of flying? I'm to lazy to go to Bulbapedia to look it up trying to go to bed not think XD edit NVM you answered after I typed but why is HP flying physical and HP psychic special? Gen 2 thing?

I’m in the exact same boat as you
I know I said it on the vs video, but seeing my favorite gen 2 absolutely crush it in the reranking made me so happy. Thank you Scott!
i think my favorite accidental bit is when scott forgets jasmines name in the moment, but then proceeds to call like 2 or 3 other characters "jasmine" after that without even noticing
I was only half paying attention while doing chores during that part, and I was getting so confused 😂

Professor Scott Shields here. I do concur, Super nerd Scott as a particular dictation that would provide satisfaction to declare as a title.

🤷🏾 I don't make the rules, argue with Game Freak lol
I like the normal videos a lot but these streams are such good content for having on while at work
I was hesitant to watch them because I don't normally care for VODs and streams, but you're right these really hit the spot.
I wont lie, the Ledyba death was absolutely hilarious

The triple crit plus the oddish breaking out of all 4 balls was actually insane. What a weird streak of luck
For the jrose rankings he also resets the whole elite 4 gauntlet if he resets
Yeah, that is a big difference!

Giant Godzilla rock monster defeated by a lady bug 🐞 😂

Pretty cool Flareon stream. I was a little worried when Jasmine gave you some trouble in the elite 4. I would give the stream a Flareon/10 score

Hey Scott just wanted to let you know that as I was watching the vod, we both said “thmb” at the same time at 46:50
The way I dropped everything at work to witness Jasmine and it was worth it!

I'm curious why you'd ever set up on Pikachu at all. Just attack it and then set up for free on Venus.
I think it's in order of weakness to the type so Gary and then it's a tie so it's random
Does fire punch not kill the magnemites in the rocket hideout to save time instead of 2 turn dig?

Everyone is Jasmine
Exorcising some kind of Jasminophobia by calling every lady boss Jasmine :)
Was Lance sending in his team based on weakness to rock? Also, I think you’d be a Pokémaniac that turns into a Professor since you start with Gen 1
"Everyone just assumes the rock types get the rock type moves, and that's fair, but they don't!"

If you get 100k subs, a celebration idea is a all vs legendaries in emerald run
one hour and ten mins should be in SS tier
I think you need to fill out your tierlist more before rearranging it but it's crazy to think that Lugia could potentially be moved to the A tier
