Melanie is a good character and a good person. She engineered the train, saved most of the remnants of humanity, kept good order, and managed resources effectively. Yes she made some bad choices but she said she was trying to make things more just one rule at a time. She deserves to rule.
Shes basically the single person that keeps the entire train going. No matter who is making choices, somebody will revolt, somebody will need to be punished. Anarchy is way worse.
Jennifer Connelly's scene where she cries over thinking she killed her daughter by not checking if they boarded before the train left. Is honestly the only scene in the show that actually driven me to silent tears. It's a great storytelling technique to not only grow your character and have her make her way into a redemption arc. But it's a brilliant way to really get the audience to side with her more and understand her feelings and intentions are real. So when it comes to her and her daughter, we know who to feel more for. Plus I can't wait to see lj and the brakeman get what they deserved, it'll be a wait but it's coming.
I’m beyond impressed with the performance of most of the characters on this show especially considering that I initially thought the series was cheap and corny. I’ve become enamoured with every aspect of the show from the character development to the concept etc etc. bravo to the show runners, cast and crew. Phenomenal series. I’m blown away and can’t wait for season 2
She want order and accept the reality very well. However, after having sex with the man and he suddenly died, is hurting her. The creator of this video did a wonderful review of her in episode 8. Ruth is the middle manager who care for targets.
You’re correct, Melly move with the prisoners cart was prefect, force him to the reality on the train to the surface. When he found out he was a father, Layton were happy to ignored the revolution. He is as selfish and self interested like the others. I suspect Layton will be the anti hero of season 2.
A few thoughts, If you by chance catch this Heavy Spoiler guy: 1)Melanie killing josie: I dont get why people say that. I mean its like 50-50% blame at least, maybe even more on josie. She chose to fight melanie and thats what caused the hose to disconnect. Melanie could have just locked her up in a drawer, no harm taken. She can be blamed for not ttrying to save her though. 2) when mealnie's daughter boards, se says they have 13 minutes before the train starts to freeze if they surrender. Taking that into account, there is no way the sepaarated first class had a chance to be saved by wilford in time, since those were just normal cars. Also, even if wilford did intercept them, he had to aproach them from behind, meaning his train would have those cars attached to it on the front. Which it didnt, so good bye to them. 3) the whole wiflord thing is more the creation of the movie, not the original comics. In teh comics, the inventor of the engine is alone in the engine room, and there is no "wilford" myth going on, rather the engine itself is considered a supreme entity in a way. 4)In the comics, there is only one survivor of the Snowpiercer, not multiple as you mentioned here. 5)The people from icebreaker going into the outside: since in the novels the trains have radio connection, after snowpiercer goes off the radar, the icebreaker following behind has regular "breaking tests" in case they have to stop in time before hitting teh immobilized Snowpiercer. They actually do find her on the first breaking excercise, taking the engine and the only survivor on board the icebreaker. They keep the myth of the snowpiercer still running out of controll in front of them, to keep the order on board through the fear. They also keep doing the breaking excersices, during which a small crew goes outside and scavenges teh ruins of the modern world. If you read this far, thank you for your time.
Having not read the graphic novels, thank you for clarifying these. I've yet to find a way to read them digitally (or even get them delivered physically), but there are certain things that really makes me wonder about the trains. I agree that Melanie didn't kill Josie, but still Melanie has tortured her, and was responsible for the maiming or even deaths of many from the tail. Without knowing her and her intentions they have no other way to think that it's not her fault. And yes, I really do think that the disconnected train died. I'm just wondering what happens to them however, and if these junctions are all over the map and what their purpose are. Are they alternate routes so that the train(s) wouldn't ever cross? Are they there in event that specific cars have to be abandoned? Logistically it's just amazing to think that Wilford (or Melanie) thought of it all at the beginning.
John Espino the tracks were built long before the freeze, wilford was a railroad millionair based on the film. The only new thing that had to be made from scratch was the engine
You might be right in that it is implausible that the Folgers, Grey and the other disconnected passengers were saved. But I bet they were. It was way too contrived that the Folgers were even in that carriage so I think such effort to contrive must have been for a reason and that reason is that they come back to further complicate things for Layton and Melanie in season 2. Remember the rule of fiction, if you didn’t actually see them die don’t assume they are dead !
Why? She is a damn despicable monster! Sure in her mind she has good reasons, but when you fight to keep a classist system in place, in a survival situation no less (the first class are basically freeloaders and should IMHO be ditched!) by mutilating people and torturing them then it is time to stop, step down, accept responsibility and be executed IMHO!
@ARC-5555 'Fives' the first class cabin are mostly the investors of the train project that is under the name of Willford, unbeknownst that Melannie was the architect of the train. If any revelations about willford's behavior is unraveled, many wont believe it and many 1st class will exploit the situation to get their greedy hands on the engine. If anything, the better decision is to probably remove the threats but leave enough to pose a challenge. Then ensure that your value as an architect is emphasized and well-known to avoid any stupid vengeful people kill the most valuable asset of the train (which is the melanie). 7-years, is still too early for any of the inhabitants to produce anyone capable of replacing Melanie. Melanie maybe ruthless, but her methods aren't the worst nor wont be the worst. The way of life should've been changed slowly though. The 1st class shouldn't have remained freeloaders for that long. There has to be slow subtle changes in the system since the beginning to make the life within even more sustanable.
I heard the theories of the "Icebreaker", but when they spoke about the signal I really thought it is just a bunker or something like that. When she looked through the binocular and saw that big ass train, I really did not expect that xD
I knew it. The moment Melanie reminiscing about her daughter in that therapy room, I knew her daughter still alive & likely also with Wilford. This could also might confirmed that Wilford & Melanie was together as couple, as make so much more sense her deep hatred toward him. Lover hatred is strong af LOL
Don't get me wrong, most of your theories were right and I love how theyre following the story from the graphic novel, and the ending was a blast I mean it had my jaw dropping, but I'm tired of endings that compel you and make you not want to wait for the next season. But lucky we had a teaser.
@@heavyspoilers he hadn't been cast yet. When they wrapped season 1 the show hand;t been renewed yet but then it was and they started production and casted Sean Bean
Layton is pretty annoying caricature (he is not a character in literary theory in my opinion; he is too idealistic on revolution and stupid as well who never care that himself doesn't have a ticket)
They cast the wrong black guy as Layton...this Hamilton play dude CANNOT ACT HIS WAY OUT OF A PAPER BAG! ugh! Its painful to watch his perpetually surprised facial expressions and bunny rabbit teeth... He's just eyecandy... Too pretty to be believed.
This is how I felt too, but after finding out that the show creators have revealed how it ties into the timeline of the film (this takes place around ten years before the film), I'm just eager to see how these seasons will setup the film.
John Espino Wait, So The Series is a prequel to the movie then? I can’t find an article that says that; everything online seems to point to the fact that the movie and the series are not in the same universe. Can you tell me where you got your info from?
John Espino lol stop making things up the show is separate entity Wilford drove the snowpiercer in the movie not the ice breaker or big Alice as it’s know in the show
@@barebasics no iv read that too but mabie in s2 wilford will be kicked out and will retreat to another train, or split snowpeircer and big alice will be populated with the people of snowpeircer. (Edit) I also think that this has been wilfords plan from the beginning
Love how Melanie plays with Layton. Layton‘s short reign and he has already blood on his hands. How does that taste Layton? Ruth and Layton on the list I despise the most.
I thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 episodes! My jaw dropped when the girl said that she’s Melanie’s daughter. The scene where they part with the 7 cars was so exciting! The entire montage was done well. I’m happy to see that the characters aren’t simply black or white. I’ve really grown to like Melanie throughout this season. It’s kinda eerie how our current reality is very much like the Snowpiercer-with this whole pandemic thing happening Anyways, I’m looking forward to seeing the 2nd season when it comes out :)
Firstly, As we've seen multiple times. Speed was about power, not fleeing. Secondly, Melanie was genuinely surprised when she found out that 'Big Alice' was running. Thirdly, 'Big Alice' was seemingly on a slightly separate track, and definitely hadn't come anywhere near in contact with Snowpiercer before.
ARC-5555 'Fives' That’s not how it works mate, the train travels at night several times in the show, it’s going at 70mph at certain points (slower than would be required to stay ahead of the night) and the track isn’t designed to keep the train in the sun, just that it takes one year to circumvent the earth, i.e one Revolution.
I really believe that Wilford IS Melanie's husband, that's why she knows so much about his intentions and coincidentally, her daughter Alexandra is on the Big Alice with Wilford too. The way she's so scared of Big Alice coupling with Snowpiercer makes me think that her ties to Wilford is not that simple. She also mentioned that during the day of departure of Snowpiercer she thought her daughter "was there but wasn't" but made no mentions of the father, and I think, though it's a bit of a reach, either her daughter chose to be with Wilford, or is forcibly taken away by Wilford on another train after being left to die in the outside world.
Am I the only worried that somehow the cars they disconnected survived long enough for Wilford to find? That would be a big mess for Melanie and the rest of Snowpiercer to deal with... Also I cant wait to see Ruth get a punch to the gut when Wilford isnt the man she imagined.
13 minutes is what they have maximum, roughly 10 though. Let's do the maths. the fork track was more of one of those sidings you see for some train cars to go, as it was parallel to snowpiercer, whereas big alice came from the opposite direction and did a near 90 degree turn towards snowpiercer. We see all of big alices cars, double snopwpiercers size, we even saw behind the final car, no trace of the other cars. If they picked them up though they wouldn't of caught up in time.
Survival seems to always need a Thanos. Melanie keeping balance even if it means killing and getting rid off people and Leyton when he uncoupled a part of the train.
11:40 i think they might do the virus... it would be perfect , considering these times there was decontamination for people coming up from the tail . ....so i feel this may have been a real concern and since the train is now more MIXED with people moving from car to car without decontamination , a Pandemic could happen
Plus Melanie actually mentions that we don't know what society they have or what diseases they have. Like I wasn't even thinking about disease until she mentioned it. I think you're right!
I hope next season we get some type of flashback episode or flashbacks sprinkled throughout the season where we can see how Melanie and Wilford came together and what led to their eventual falling out with each other.
the episodes was awesome AF, didnt thought that i'll get 2 episodes this week! Melanie is the mvp of the show. she showed them/layton the pressure of "protecting" humanity... "whatever it takes", and that last push to protect the train from Wilford's train For a second I thought that fall ended her story, but since the train stopped + that daughter reveal, we'll be getting a season 2 for the series. IMO, getting rid of the corrupt ish people (some first and the guards) was morally/ethically wrong, but was the right thing to do. since if they did took over, it would be just worst than mel's way of protecting the train. my prediction for season 2: now with wilford is around, things will be crazier. as simple as that. would love to see a proper backstory for mel and wil, especially their fallout overall, its a good watch, and cant wait for season 2. OFF TO UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON 2! lolz
Great last episodes. I think we will see a snowpiercer movie character at some point next season. Maybe the kronole addict father. That would reveal this is the snowpiercer from the movie.
I hope so, would love to see some connections, I like that they kinda tricked the audience into thinking there was no way this could be connected only to pull the rug out from under us at the last second
@@heavyspoilers yeah it was definitely a mental shocking ending. Hopefully we get more teases it's in the same universe next season. That wouldn't only make the series but also the film much better. Long shot here but imagine the revelution people we see frozen outside the train in the movie are characters from the series.
I thought of Strong Boy, but he speaks Mandarin instead of Korean. Bummer :/ Yet it actually lines up nicely when you think that in the film they know about the drawers already. This season started with the Tail not knowing about the drawers at all.
Is it just me or does anyone think that Layton is an ungrateful guy who doesn’t know his place. He killed people to board the train, not grateful that the train let him live and look what snowpiercer became after he took control.
Just finished watching Season 1. I liked the bit of foreshadowing. When Mrs. Folger made Layton hold up the white flag of surrender, she holds it up with him too. She was cut off at the end. And Layton had to surrender / sacrifice some of his own people to save the train.
I kinda think he was with Ruth as everyone boarded two by two but her plus since she thinks so highly of him also she was not on first car Melanie made sure of this so did LJ . So I think ruth might be his love since Melanie legit went out of her way along with Lj to make sure Ruth was on the train that reconnected .
I think the Chris Evans movie version are just on one of the other trains and eventually the two versions will collide and the movie will play out like it did.
Kudos to everyone involved with the show. Brilliant writing, great filming and decent effects. Considering the budget of the production, I think they nailed it. I too think Melanie is misunderstood and is indeed the backbone of the train. Without her, none of these people would be alive, and they don't even realize it. It will be a long wait for season 2.......
For me personally the 8 episode was the best! So I’m confused with ending: does it mean Melanie will be in charge as well cause of her daughter? Layton’s team are tails again? Cheers🙌🏻
I remember reading somewhere that the creators of the original graphic novel headcannon all the snowpiercers into the same universe with multiple diffrent trains
Fun fact: if you turn on the captions any mention of Wilford is capitalized. Words such as "He" or "Him" are capitalized as how some refer to god in the bible.
Episode 9 and Episode 10 are definitely separate episodes in looks, feel and story. I feel I didn’t took in episode 9 because I jump into episode 10. What was the reasoning behind releasing both?
Shows regularly drop two episodes together to create more excitement. The Handmaid's Tale have been know to drop two episodes at a time. One time, they dropped three episodes (at the beginning of season 2).
I legit only watched the show because a character was playing Melanie. Its exceedingly rare for my name to be in a show yet a lead character. and got hooked ^_^
It would be interesting to see the Folgers back along with Commander Grey and the surviving Jackboots. However I don't think they or anyone for that matter survived the decoupling because if Wilfred did rescue them then they would have told him about Melanie, which means Alexandra should already know that her mother is alive. Now that would be a plot hole.
As far as the Folgers and Grey knew when they are cut loose Melanie had been executed. I don’t recall they knew she had escaped. They might surmise differently given who else knew how to decouple the train like that but can’t know for sure.
I think a big theme of the series is Necssity vs Morality, Melanie does questionable things in the name of order but at the same time perpetuated a corrupt system that ultimatly turned against her and would (in her view) destroy the train through short sightedness and overexploitation on the other hand you have Layton who has the best intrests of others at heart and is intrested in doing what is right regardless of the results but at the same time puts others in danger by threating order and the train. In the 2nd to last episode you see the two move a little towards the middle, Melanie risks the whole train by decoupling to save the tail while Layton had to leave his friends to die to save the train as a whole
@Dom From what I've read online, there is no solid release date, yet. The article said that there was talk of the release date being sometime in the summer of 2021. There are supposed to be ten episodes for season two, they filmed most of episode nine, but shut down production in March due to COVID-19.
Throughout the series, her button also shifted from a W to an M and vice-versa, several times. This was awesome foreshadowing. I think LJ is set-up to redeem herself rather than become more psychopathic because that would make a more compelling character arc, but not sure. I am also convinced the 7 carts they left in the cold might make a return - maybe the Folgers actually activated Big Alice. I also am curious to see if Ruth will have all her feelings for Mr Wilford dissolve into a bubble, once she actually gets to know him - I do think he is the bigger evil.
I think Wilford was a older man who dazzled Melanie as a young MIT graduate. They built snowpiecer. Him - getting the financial backing and workers. Her- the design and enginnering. They slept together and had Alexander but his dream of Snowpiecer was bigger then his devotion to family. He was wineing and dining girls/guys and Melanie lost her faith in him. Wilford had Alice stocked and ready just in case mutiny took over snowpiecier. He redirected Alexandra and her parents to Alice and spent years educating Alexandra to be an engineer.
You only died if Hollywood show you drying, off screen death means you’re not written off. Therefore the security and prisoners are able to be alive if need be in future seasons. Of course, will those prisoners forgive Layton ?
Definitely a massive season finale and here is the very best fanhub TV show analysis online. Now I have to read the comics because there seems to be enough links. The portrayal of the power of love and sacrifice is so well made on this show. 🤩 +Much respect for the FF flashback of the train mission! ++ Super Hyped for season two!! +++ Thank you for the uploads!!!
Estranged lover and a “lost” daughter sounds very familiar. Remember a film Jennifer Connelly acted in last year? Alita: Battle Angel. It’s kinda funny how she takes up a loosely similar role again.
Big Alice ends up being eventually the Snowpiercer we come to know from the movie. That’s where I’m sure this is heading to, the timeline running with all of this alongside the future and current novels they’ve been releasing seems to also correlate with both. Big Alice looks EXACTLY like the movie version of Snowpiercer, which means at some point I think they actually rid themselves of the majority of the TV Snowpiercer at some point in this show.
Heavy Spoilers it just hints heavily at that. The way the front carriage of Big Alice was designed, it is really similar to the way it was in the movie. Which I think reinvigorates the theory that Snowpiercer in the show is not the one we come to know in the 2013 movie. At some point in the show, I definitely see them detaching the TV Snowpiercer and it’ll break away to wither and die, leaving us to be immersed into Big Alice aka the movie Snowpiercer. If it does fit with the movie’s universe, then this can only assume that sadly, Layton, Melanie, and plenty of these characters eventually perish at some point. How they’ll do that, is uncertain.
From what I have read the TV series is not intended to be a prequel and end up where the movie starts. It’s a reinterpretation of the source material. They will want to get a season 3 up in sure which will involve a whole lot of different plot lines. The source books have multiple trains but this is never mentioned in the movie.
i actually hope they don't have another train appearing again, I was blown away by the ending of this season (especially because I didnt know anything about the comics so I assumed this would be the only train) but if they now make a third train show up it would feel cheap and formulaic and wouldn't be as thrilling as the first time. Also I think the existence of too many trains takes away from the high stakes you feel for what happens to Snowpiercer because its not the only refuge of humanity anymore
She always had the tailies at the end of the day, when Booth suggested that they uncouple the tail she shoves him with a feeling between them that that is not an option
Everyones talking about how Mel or Layton is their favorite, I just really like Strong Boy and the Last Australian, they either of them die im gonna stop watching
Oh my gosh, before watching this I just have to say, oh my gosh. At least they ended the season in a way that would make sense how this is technically years before the film. I just like to add though that it's a nice touch showing the scale of the train against Melanie. Really makes you see how big the train is. After watching the video...some thoughts on the last two episodes and what's next for the series. 1. While Melanie was in the Nightcar, I actually thought that she was going to reveal that Wilford is the father of Alexandra. This thread went on so much that I thought she was going to have to carry Melanie's family name-Cavill-and not Mr. Wilford's because she's an illegitimate child. That they mentioned her family name at the end I guess leans into that theory even more. I don't know how it works in other parts of the world but where I come from if your parents aren't married and you live with your mom, she can give you her family name. Of course it depends on whatever laws apply in your place, but forgive me if I'm convinced that Alexandra is Wilford's daughter, haha) 2. Though for these last two episodes for the season, I again feel like everything is rushed. In previous recaps, I've mentioned that they don't really give much space for Layton to really come to terms with his decisions, especially during the revolution. In these episodes there isn't really any space for Layton to show that he's really at odds how to *lead* the train-the price of revolution isn't just deaths but really dealing with what's left or what's after-and I hoped this was given more air time (at least before they engage in another revolution again against Wilford, phew they have no time to even breathe). It's a common theme that the film and the series shares: Curtis didn't know what's 'next' when he got to the engine, and he even almost got talked into taking over Wilford's post; Layton should be 'celebrating' but because of the lives that it cost him to get to that 'win' he was reeling, and he can't even get into thinking what happens next. This is why I think it would have been nice to see Layton basically asking, we've won, now what? 3. Although I really feel that Melanie's story was really compelling, and her arc throughout this season was a thrilling one. I believe that Layton and Melanie had the same vision of what the train ought to be and how it is to be run, the difference being Melanie had the chance to run the train and found it difficult to effect an immediate change of the status quo, and Layton suddenly realizing that when he 'won' his revolution. I'm that guy who keeps commenting the past few recaps that he roots for Melanie, and I still do. I think she was really just doing what she thought was right-although this is not to discount the cruelty she herself administered. I don't think it was necessary to torture people, or even uphold the class distinctions. Melanie waited too long to effect change in the train and she had to live with the decisions she had to make. That said, (and tying into my second point), I hoped that we got to see more of what Layton might have done. If Melanie took too long to effect change, Layton could have shown what happens when change happens too abruptly. Either way it doesn't work the way we think it is, and I would have thought that Layton wouldn't be able to hold on the power he had for too long if he was just intent to changing how the train runs as soon as he can. Real change is slow, and can only be ever assured when everyone is taken into account and is actively involved in making it happen. Melanie hid the truth and took so long that she failed, Layton exposed the truth and could effect it immediately, but I guess we'll never know who Layton as a leader could be or what Snowpiercer would look like under his leadership because they just had to introduce Wilford almost immediately. (And again this ties back that maybe season two could have at least one episode in the beginning showing Layton running the train, at least before Wilford shows up and upends things.) 4. THAT SAID, with Wilford being introduced in this season, I think he won't be the same Wilford we get to know in the film. That version of Wilford is a 'far-gone' version of Wilford. Again maybe this is me again humanizing and trying to root for the villain, but I think he and Melanie also had the same vision of what the train ought to be-but his view leans more on playing along with the status quo and having a revolution 'from within'. He knows that there should be a just and fair society but the society they've lived in before Snowpiercer wasn't really a just and fair one. I mean, as Nolan Grey said, the rich are good in a crisis but they can't really be the effective leaders for a society like Snowpiercer, and I think Wilford needed them to build his train (okay to have Melanie build his train), so he had to play along. That Melanie has his diaries and reads them for guidance reads (haha) to me not that she was just peddling along Wilford's wicked ideology, but that he also shared in her vision-and that's how they came together and had a daughter in Alexandra. I think though that while Melanie tried as best as she can to hold on to her virtues, Wilford was tempted too much by the status and power that was given to him-something that will really get to your head when you have a train of people who think you're God. I think he will lose both Melanie and Alexandra next season, and that's what really led him to be the Wilford we see in the film. If people you love die anyway, and the status quo can't ever be changed because that status quo preserves the 'order of things' as they are, what's the point of trying to change things? There's also the matter of W inverting to an M. I mean COME ON WOULDN'T IT BE LOVELY IF THEY WERE IN FACT, LOVERS AND BUILT THE TRAIN TOGETHER? Earlier in the season the pin inverted from an M to a W, now we have a W inverting to an M. If Wilford is a god this is some high-level mythology symbology thing hahahaha 5. I really just love how Melanie references the climate crisis as a series of decisions we've all made decades before the story is set. This is not to debate that global warming due to human activity is real (it is), but come on whether or not you agree that it's driven by humans or not at least we can agree that caring for our Planet Eternal™ is something that we can all do? I mean the Earth is literally a 'train' that runs on a 'track' around the sun and we mark a full 'revolution' as one year? And while the 'fuel' is unlimited and it could go on running 'forever' (until at least the sun uses up all its fuel and goes supernova), resources and parts are not. And it's not as if we have a 'supply' train that would 'save us' that would keep us running forever, is there? (Oh gosh that went almost religious real quick.) 6. I wonder if we see the revolt of the seven in the next season.........I've always thought that the train couldn't ever stop but this shows that it could stop for a limited amount of time. Reading down in the comments tells me that in graphic novels the train did stop at times with a crew scavenging what's in wasteland minutes at a time. In the film I thought they all just jumped out of the train but maybe the train....stopped again? Looking forward! 7. I also agree that the people in the decoupled train couldn't have been saved at all-they'd be dead quick enough. If the speed of things freezing up is respected from previous episodes I'd think they'd be dead in a minute without electricity and heating. BUT we now know that each car has batteries. What if? If it's going to be set up though that Wilford saved them on the Big Alice I'd be very upset. 8. Also, are there just special tracks that junction out from the main one? What purpose do they have? And there's a supply train? And why wouldn't Javi know that there's a possibility that other trains exist? If the supply trains are so important? (Okay gotta stop reading through the comments because this list keeps getting longer) 9. In an alternate universe I'd love it for Melanie and Wilford to be writing letters to each other, ending with 'I have the honor to be your obedient servant'. LOL --- Anyway it's great keeping up with this season with you Deff, your theories and comments have made this season much more enjoyable to watch and dissect. I just hope that they've shot enough for the next season that they could still air it in time. I can't wait for another revolution (haha) just to see what happens next. Cheers mate! (Also my gosh why aren't the graphic novels available digitally because I can't get one shipped to where I live! People here keep telling that they're following what's happening in the graphic novels and I'd like to read it!)
Rightly or wrongly I think it’s obvious and inevitable that those seven carriages were saved by Wilford. We never saw them actually die remember. The Folgers will be back you watch.
@@davidgeisler9885 A couple videos back I shared that LJ could very well be the yellow lady who likes blood in the film. This would be an interesting thing to follow!
Thanks for the spoilers, I loved the show so much it helps me to get through to the next series. I love Layton, he's an awesome actor! As well as being a big hunk. That said, he can also look pretty scary with those big eyes especially when he's all bloodied up! I think it would be cool if Miles and Alex ended up running the trains, to heck with adults but then I couldn't see Layton so forget that thought. Awesome that they chose Sean Bean also! I knew the voice immediately which said it was going to be a grrreat show! Truly love it!
You can clearly see that the ‘back of the train’ shown at the end where Wilford is sitting is actually the engine of his train and the new front. In the next season the train will be going the other way, that is why they had to stop.
Yeah I think Melanie will reverse the trains...she'd die trying to walk 40 cars length back to the tail of Snowpiercer. Icebreaker doesn't have many windows.
I have been thinking about how the timeline works between the comics, the series and the movie. With the additional knowledge that there are other trains this has actually removed some of the hope that was suggested by the end of the movie, taking away some of its power. Also because the TV series is actually very good I am unable to ignore it like many other poor prequals and sequals.
Overall enjoyed season 1, the world building was great and they fully used it to dive into the social issues and its nuances. other than some romance distractions in the middle. the story was captivating thanks to the great acting and awesome set. can't wait for season 2.
Has anyone pointed out a huge spatial problem with Snowpiercer? Let's assume for easy calculation that each carriage is 10m long. 1,001 carriages is ... a freaking 10km. How do the characters move from Engine to Tail? Walking. Army regs says 10km takes 2.5 hours. Why aren't they using some kind of internal transport system, eg a hyperloop? They can't, because each carriage is designed to rock independently, especially around a curve. They should be on at least bicycles - cycle 10m, dismount, cycle, dismount ... probably an hour plus to move down the train. This problem is clearest in the finale. Melanie moves from the Engine to the Tail - STUPIDLY ON TOP OF THE CARRIAGES. She should have ran all the way to the tail, then emerged above, instead of fighting the elements for 10km and probably three or more hours - does her suit have enough heating and oxygen for three hours? Yet, at the finale, we see that she has probably traveled at least 990 carriages' worth, because she starts walking just a handful of carriages from the END of the SECOND train. Other than that, the internal logic of the show is not bad. Looking forward to season 2!
I have a lot of questions about Big Alice. Okay fine, it was a prototype of Snowpiercer, but was it stocked and ready to go like Snowpiercer was? How could it have survived for 7 years? Assuming the show is not following the multiple train set up of the novels, which was hinted at when Melanie was sure it was Wilfred on Big Alice because how could anyone else have survived. That makes this a really big question.
I'm assuming since snowpeicer was built before the big freeze, as a tourism device, big Alice was the supply train/prototype for it's journey around the globe. Therefore, my theory is that Mr Wilford was never on the train, and was always on big alice. But I'm not sure about Melanie's daughter.
I had this weird feeling that we wouldn't see Sean (Mr wilford) and instead had a suspicion we'd meet Rowan which I also predicted could potentially be Melanie's daughter (Alexandra). But I'm really interested to see how wilford is tied into this all, possibly the father of alexandra? And how they survived.
I reckon with regards to Melanie/Andre/Wilford and power over the train could be something similar to that of Suits season 2 where Hardman comes back and tries to take control again
Jennifer Connelly is an awesome actress and she Defies Ageing...you see her in Blood-diamond then watch SnowPiercer and then tell me how much she looks the same. I didn't want to like this show ..I thought the original idea from the Main Movie was good and a metaphor for today's society, Very much like the movie "The Platform" which I highly recommend if you love shows like this... What put me off this concept is how do they maintain the Tracks the Train runs on? Sure you can fix the train to some extent but severe cold weather will eventually damage the Tracks..especially if its as cold as they say it is in the TV show but...after watching a few episodes....i can suspend my belief for a few minutes to enjoy what is actually a very good show...just as long as you don't pick apart the small flaws and possibilities of such an endeavour... Roll on season 2... The Season one ending..right near the end when you see the Bright light ..then it changed to like a "cartoon" look..i wonder what that was about...
Let us know your thoughts on the finale and what theories you have in the comment below. If we mention them on our Season 2 video we will give you a shoutout. If you enjoyed this video then please subscribe to the channel ua-cam.com/channels/q3hT5JPPKy87JGbDls_5BQ.html

Alex Shadows Wonder why
Hahah it’s the same actor
Heavy Spoilers oh true 😄
I hope melanie can separate geh icebreaker so that the showdown with wilford will be in the third or fourth season
I aslo think that Wilford is Melanie’s daughter father and that the W changing into M is for Wilford and Melanie. This is soooo amazing

Definitely the W&M thing, I thought that.
Melanie is Wilford’s daughter you mean?
Briann23cgy no, that Wilford and Melanie has Alexandra
When the W changed to M meaning Melanie and I think your right Alex is his daughter
Nah man, the W was changed to M, because it needs to be set to “mini”. It was accidentally set to “WOMBO.”

Melanie is a good character and a good person. She engineered the train, saved most of the remnants of humanity, kept good order, and managed resources effectively. Yes she made some bad choices but she said she was trying to make things more just one rule at a time. She deserves to rule.
Anyone can suggest me a new show so I can watch on Netflix? I really loved this one, can't wait for the second
Shes basically the single person that keeps the entire train going.
No matter who is making choices, somebody will revolt, somebody will need to be punished.
Anarchy is way worse.
By humanity, do we mean americans? Where are the Indians, Bolivians, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Cubans?
@AfroNinja yes but in the show I only see American humans lol
@@ortegayecid probably because the train left from.chicago
I’m blown away and can’t wait for season 2
am i the only one who just can’t stand Ruth
She want order and accept the reality very well. However, after having sex with the man and he suddenly died, is hurting her. The creator of this video did a wonderful review of her in episode 8. Ruth is the middle manager who care for targets.
Ruth is so stupid!
All her actions are based on self-interest and emotion. LIKE GET WITH THE PROGRAM RUTH. Jeez.
I cant stand layton
She’s ruthless
You’re correct, Melly move with the prisoners cart was prefect, force him to the reality on the train to the surface.
When he found out he was a father, Layton were happy to ignored the revolution. He is as selfish and self interested like the others.
I suspect Layton will be the anti hero of season 2.
Could well be, I don’t think he will end up leading in the long run, specially if this ties into the movie
I hope Wilford is the hero of season two I need a ned stark revival .
Heavy Spoilers just curious as to what you mean by this. It's been a while since I've seen the movie so maybe I'm missing something
I don’t think agreeing to surrender and be executed to save the lives of everyone else is selfish.
Wilford is a dick though in this show
A few thoughts, If you by chance catch this Heavy Spoiler guy:
1)Melanie killing josie: I dont get why people say that.
Garai Péter what movie please?
A M the snowpiercer movie
You might be right in that it is implausible that the Folgers, Grey and the other disconnected passengers were saved. But I bet they were. It was way too contrived that the Folgers were even in that carriage so I think such effort to contrive must have been for a reason and that reason is that they come back to further complicate things for Layton and Melanie in season 2.
Remember the rule of fiction, if you didn’t actually see them die don’t assume they are dead !
Daaaaamn, I'm rooting for Melanie
same
DreamingFlurry I root for Melanie. Look at the train when they have it Layton’s way. You can’t argue that order has a cost.
Me either! Imagine if this was a 3-D movie!
I knew it. The moment Melanie reminiscing about her daughter in that therapy room, I knew her daughter still alive & likely also with Wilford. This could also might confirmed that Wilford & Melanie was together as couple, as make so much more sense her deep hatred toward him. Lover hatred is strong af LOL
Last weeks episode where she was saying that she built the train struck me as a woman scorned! He wasn’t just a business partner!
Don't get me wrong, most of your theories were right and I love how theyre following the story from the graphic novel, and the ending was a blast I mean it had my jaw dropping, but I'm tired of endings that compel you and make you not want to wait for the next season. But lucky we had a teaser.
Hahah very annoying, one of the things I hate most about tv
Better than having people forget about a show, leading to it being cancelled.
What teaser?
Lucy Lamazares ua-cam.com/video/QElL7QXWNrU/v-deo.html Enjoy!
When i saw the 2nd train i thought; "Wilfred has returned and he's p*ssed!"
Looool such a good entrance
7 fkng long years!
I was kinda expecting sean bean to make a cameo appearance in the final episode ngl
Yeah me too, least we got him in the trailer I suppose
Yh it should’ve been him at the end greeting them instead of Rowan Blanchards character
@@heavyspoilers I thought Sean Bean would finally have a break. In GoT he got killed in a season, in Snowpiercer it takes a season to show him. LOL
@@heavyspoilers he hadn't been cast yet. When they wrapped season 1 the show hand;t been renewed yet but then it was and they started production and casted Sean Bean

Till and Melanie are definitely the best characters. Layton has gone downhill.
Episode 9 and 10...... I was mindblown after watching that.
I would love if it NOT have anything to do with the movie, just another new story adaptation.
@@carveysando6374 I also heard that this was a reboot and is not a prequel to the film
The M/W and Alexandra being with Wilford + her saying that she build it and he advertised it indicates that they were a couple at some point
Love how Melanie plays with Layton. Layton‘s short reign and he has already blood on his hands. How does that taste Layton?
Ruth and Layton on the list I despise the most.
i love Layton and Melanie they're my top fav.
But he already had blood on his hands when he killed people during the combat.
@@lucylamazares4687 Yes, but now he has his own people's blood on his hands.
Are we just supposed to forget that the people inside the detached carriage were willing to gas every other class on the train?
I don’t know how people like Layton, he’s annoying
A few tear jerkers throughout eps 8 and 9.
Yeah some big big moments
I thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 episodes! My jaw dropped when the girl said that she’s Melanie’s daughter.
The scene where they part with the 7 cars was so exciting! The entire montage was done well. I’m happy to see that the characters aren’t simply black or white. I’ve really grown to like Melanie throughout this season.
It’s kinda eerie how our current reality is very much like the Snowpiercer-with this whole pandemic thing happening
Anyways, I’m looking forward to seeing the 2nd season when it comes out :)
Yeah really really close, scary how accurate it is. Anyway thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the show, have a great day
Definitely, especially when the whole crisis is a product of Climate Change.
This does explain why Melly never like them slowing down the train as not to be caught up.
she don't know he still alive.. the train need certain speed to get full power...
Ah really good catch, I think you’re right
campkira She lie so much that I don’t believe many things, and how he didn’t actually died.
Yeah I definitely think they will link em, makes the most sense with Alexandra being alive, I doubt Wilford would’ve cared about saving anyone else
There are a few times through the series where the W pin Mel has on her uniform is upside down before the Wilfred is gone reveal.
Am I the only worried that somehow the cars they disconnected survived long enough for Wilford to find?
That would be a big mess for Melanie and the rest of Snowpiercer to deal with...
Also I cant wait to see Ruth get a punch to the gut when Wilford isnt the man she imagined.
no way, they would be dead in 13 minutes and Big Alice didn’t appear until a day later
"Guess Who`s back, Back again Wilford back tell a friend"
Hahahahaha
my god tha ending was shocking
Yeah big big way to end the show
not really it come out of nowhere like if they can not get season 2... it would end without the alice...
I'm kinda predicting there will be another train lol
I loved watching Ruth in these last two episodes I hope they keep her and Layton main characters in the second season even with Mr Wilfort
Yeah she’s excellent, watching Wilford arrive killed me
Yeah I was secretly hoping he was going to be gone just to see who comes up into the power vacuum
That decoupling was tight & Strong boy & Aussie & Z rescueing Andre was my fav the whole series
Survival seems to always need a Thanos. Melanie keeping balance even if it means killing and getting rid off people and Leyton when he uncoupled a part of the train.
11:40 i think they might do the virus... it would be perfect , considering these times
there was decontamination for people coming up from the tail . ....so i feel this may have been a real concern
and since the train is now more MIXED with people moving from car to car without decontamination , a Pandemic could happen
Plus Melanie actually mentions that we don't know what society they have or what diseases they have. Like I wasn't even thinking about disease until she mentioned it. I think you're right!
They’ve already filmed it but I think they definitely will if they haven’t
Season End: The whole of Snowpiercer become tail class. XD
"whatever it takes", and that last push to protect the train from Wilford's train
For a second I thought that fall ended her story, but since the train stopped + that daughter reveal, we'll be getting a season 2 for the series.
IMO, getting rid of the corrupt ish people (some first and the guards) was morally/ethically wrong, but was the right thing to do. since if they did took over, it would be just worst than mel's way of protecting the train.
my prediction for season 2: now with wilford is around, things will be crazier. as simple as that. would love to see a proper backstory for mel and wil, especially their fallout
overall, its a good watch, and cant wait for season 2.
Long shot here but imagine the revelution people we see frozen outside the train in the movie are characters from the series.
it can be more than one train.. since the movie train are not start in chicogo...
I thought of Strong Boy, but he speaks Mandarin instead of Korean. Bummer :/
Yet it actually lines up nicely when you think that in the film they know about the drawers already. This season started with the Tail not knowing about the drawers at all.
@@johnespino886 yeah. Maybe they have drawers in this new train Big Alice and they are in there. Would be interesting if that was the case
Is it just me or does anyone think that Layton is an ungrateful guy who doesn’t know his place. He killed people to board the train, not grateful that the train let him live and look what snowpiercer became after he took control.
So Sean Bean plays Mr. Wilford, meaning he will certainly die
Just finished watching Season 1. I liked the bit of foreshadowing. When Mrs. Folger made Layton hold up the white flag of surrender, she holds it up with him too. She was cut off at the end. And Layton had to surrender / sacrifice some of his own people to save the train.
I wonder if Wilford is the father of Melanie's daughter.
I was thinking the same thing too.
he could be melanie's parent
This show is enough explanation as to why we need class divide.
More like a good explanation as to why we need to plan out and be ready for something different.
@Eve R. Logic at its finest. 👍
I think the Chris Evans movie version are just on one of the other trains and eventually the two versions will collide and the movie will play out like it did.
don't matter anymore.
Cheers🙌🏻
Nah I think Wilford is just using her, he used child labour in the film so probably that again
Heavy Spoilers who knows, it was heck of season🤯🤩👏🏻
Remember how W backward rotates to M so wilford is husband of mel's and father of that child.
@@setiop6788 ooh i didn't think of that.

The fact that so many were surprised Melanie's daughter was still alive are in for a big treat when they discover Sean Bean' inevitable fate.
What was the reasoning behind releasing both?
tv show.. they can not fit everything in certain time slot... hence why it don't look like it should be back to back...
No idea tbh, was surprised they dropped em back to back like that
campkira schedule the issues does make sense. However, isn’t this a prime tnt show?
Shows regularly drop two episodes together to create more excitement. The Handmaid's Tale have been know to drop two episodes at a time. One time, they dropped three episodes (at the beginning of season 2).
Got almost everything right. 2nd train, Layton & Melanie uniting, Wilford alive. Just thought Wilford was in a drawer instead of on the 2nd train.
Will you be doing videos on S2?
It'll be interesting to see if the separated carriages were picked up by wilfred
Truly enjoyed been watching all season waiting for season 2. 🍻
How many episodes have already been filmed for season 2? And any ideas when season 2 will release?
@Dom
From what I've read online, there is no solid release date, yet. The article said that there was talk of the release date being sometime in the summer of 2021.
There are supposed to be ten episodes for season two, they filmed most of episode nine, but shut down production in March due to COVID-19.
So we finally going to see the oompa loompas running Big Alice then?
Are you going to review season 2? Its like on episode 5 already
I cannot believe how great this fucking show is snowpiercer is so good thank you heavyspoiler cuz I always get a good wrap up after I watch it
Much love Wesley, thanks for dropping a comment and glad you enjoyed the video. Have a great week
I'm just livid that they squandered the opportunity to call the second train Icebreaker.
You do know there is 10 trains?
The ff8 spot is absolutely spot on. Great call out man, you're easily my fav channel at this point.
"they nearly took off the tail" Wilford aint playing games, he legit nearly derailed the last car to get there fast.
You only died if Hollywood show you drying, off screen death means you’re not written off.
Therefore the security and prisoners are able to be alive if need be in future seasons. Of course, will those prisoners forgive Layton ?
who care... they r nameless nobody...

That ending! I need more and I need it now.
Estranged lover and a “lost” daughter sounds very familiar. Remember a film Jennifer Connelly acted in last year? Alita: Battle Angel. It’s kinda funny how she takes up a loosely similar role again.
She likes complex characters and I agree with you.
the concept of a second train i had already known from the comics but i was not expecting it to be in the tv series
Yeah they did a good job of hiding it
Big Alice ends up being eventually the Snowpiercer we come to know from the movie.
Yeah can definitely see it getting destroyed especially as all the carriages are different
Love this series omg when is S2 ???
i actually hope they don't have another train appearing again, I was blown away by the ending of this season (especially because I didnt know anything about the comics so I assumed this would be the only train) but if they now make a third train show up it would feel cheap and formulaic and wouldn't be as thrilling as the first time. Also I think the existence of too many trains takes away from the high stakes you feel for what happens to Snowpiercer because its not the only refuge of humanity anymore
agreed
the last 3 episodes were amazing. Definetely jaw dropper for sure
Yeah some big big moments
when i saw the episode title “994 cars long “ my heart sank because i thought they were gonna uncouple the Tail section 😭😭😭
For me I really agree that there should be order and balance. The train is limited.
I am finally through ep9 now. I have to say that watching Snowpiercer is the longest 60 minutes I have ever spent doing anything.
Of course it depends on whatever laws apply in your place, but forgive me if I'm convinced that Alexandra is Wilford's daughter, haha)
(And again this ties back that maybe season two could have at least one episode in the beginning showing Layton running the train, at least before Wilford shows up and upends things.)
If Wilford is a god this is some high-level mythology symbology thing hahahaha
5. (Oh gosh that went almost religious real quick.)
(Okay gotta stop reading through the comments because this list keeps getting longer)
9. In an alternate universe I'd love it for Melanie and Wilford to be writing letters to each other, ending with 'I have the honor to be your obedient servant'. LOL

Anyway it's great keeping up with this season with you Deff, your theories and comments have made this season much more enjoyable to watch and dissect.
Props to the guy who commented a few vids ago that icebreaker would make a visit!
Yeah shoutouts the second train theory guy - his new name
I posted about it back in episode 6/7 but I also read the stories. I really hope they don’t include the rat people in the nuclear power bunker.
Thanks Awesome video
And how they survived.
my man ned stark built snowpiercer
Just watched season one and it was awesome , roll on season two
I reckon with regards to Melanie/Andre/Wilford and power over the train could be something similar to that of Suits season 2 where Hardman comes back and tries to take control again
I very much enjoyed the first season. Can't wait for the second one!
Was the Wilfords classical music from snowpiercer
Episode 9 is so intense
strange how Sean Bean will act a character that came to life for a change
Alice might be a reference to ALICE Pack. A military issue backpack where gear is stored.
