Kai (the shaman) is from Germany, Maria from Norway, Christopher from Denmark.
I'm seeing Heilung for the third time again this year in September. They're an experience you just have to catch live when you can. And yes, they have so many more songs that will blow you off your feet. This one can serve as an introduction, but please don't stop there.
April 23rd, first time for me. How was the first show you saw? Did you walk away in a mellow buzz no longer fearing death? That's what I assume the first show does to you
@@ragohwhiteclaw7462 The first show was very strange, to be honest, because it was a seated venue and everybody can see that Heilung needs their audience to be able to move freely during the ritual. It was more watching than participating. That was in 2019, if I remember correctly. Their show in 2020 was postponed to 2023, due to the pandemic, much larger venue, some seating, but most of the space before the stage was standing space and that was much much better. First show was great because as a small person I could see everything haha, but second was just better participation wise. Audience was wild. Even Maria broke character once at the end and waved and smiled to the audience. :D Both experiences were mindblowing.
I will be at AFAS this September ❤
Enjoy! I know you will. :) @@Frankamaria
Maybe we see each other 🗡️🪄🔮🧙🌳🪶🧝🎑
next songs you need to check out are Alfadhirhaiti (Names of the All father), Anoana, In Maidjan, Norupo.
I've listened to each at least five times this week and it's only Tuesday. Never gets old.
add Tenet, Traust and Svanrand and you have my favorite songs from Heilung.
Alfadhirhaiti, go live version, that's the best one.
@@funsun. Oh i know about Alfadhirhaiti.. both live and studio version
I listen to Alfadhirhaiti on my way to work. I'm the parking lot when they start chanting and it gets a lot of fun looks, because I'm chanting with them...
@@enkeli19 took me sometime to learn the lyrics for Alfadhirhaiti..
Also crazy to think that this whole concert was their very first time performing live in front of an audience together.
WHAT!?
YES! XD Kai, the Shaman, wasn't a professional performer by any means. Maria and Christopher were. They first put out their stuff on YT when people basicall begged them when they would be able to see them live. They took one year to prepare and get their show ready for an audience. Lifa, the gig (or ritual as they call it), was the result of that. :D@@ThunderRooster
@@ThunderRooster yup
This kind of music feels like my ancestors from Scandinavia calling me home.
It has an affect!
Completely agree. I’m Ukrainian, German and Swedish on my moms side. Norse and danish on my dad’s side.
@@jackiehansen2421 My moms side is from Sweden, Denmark, and England. My dads side is from Norway, Iceland, and Ireland.
Dude, I’m half Japanese and the rest English, Scottish, Irish, with a drop of Danish and I feel the same way! Let me tell you, that “drop” of Danish blood is boiling in my veins when I listen to this! It’s weird. Literally brings me to tears.
I’m mesmerized listening to her sing. Like being in a trance. She has an angelic voice.
@@tool46296 A drop is all it takes
Their live ceremony is such an incredible experience… life changing for me!!! ♥️
Please check more out of them. They have so much more amazing songs. Greetings from Germany
Because of your comments at the end... look up "Vikings and Native Americans dance in unity at Heilung concert"
Oh sweet!
Maria is a pagan shaman as well! .......btw, the band makes their costumes and many of their instruments.......Heilung="Healing"........
War Spell. Norway, Denmark & Germany.
Glad u enjoyed 👍 Heilung invite First Nations to join them in Ritual. Some amazing clips uploaded.

👍
Whoa!! I will!!
Has to be some form of throat singing, this dude does it for hours every day (every tour stop), if he's just throwing on Gravel he'd wreck his voice pretty fast IDK for sure but he has something Healthy going on there.
Please try their song Maidjan. Maria's solo will knock your socks off!!
Krigsgaldur means warsong Krig means war, galdur means shout
Scandinavia is going to war, it is tradision in our contries to sing before we go to war. We are civilised contries but we are also still wikings, this is the song we sing before we go to war. Scandinavia, and france have had enough, we are proud nations. And we sing war songs before we go to war. Franse have their own song, this is our war songs. I thijnk you know who we are going to war with.
Good place to start with Heilung! It's one of their middle of the road songs - not too intense but also not too slow-building. I highly recommend checking out more! Heilung is a human and spiritual experience in the form of music. And very meditative if you let yourself fall into it. A wonderful mix of folk, metal, and tribal music! I recommend the full LIFA concert for the full experience. It's like a ritual that even the audience is part of. but if you don't want to commit to a concert, I recommend:
Anoana (theres a music video)
In Maidjan (live from LIFE concert)
Othan (live from LIFA concert)
Norupo (theres a music video)
Senua's Saga: Hellblade II (live performance)
-per wikipedia
Heilung is an experimental folk music band made up of members from Denmark, Norway, and Germany. Their music is based on texts and runic inscriptions from Germanic peoples of the Iron Age, and Viking Age. Heilung describe their music as "amplified history from early medieval northern Europe". Their music is usually about Germanic deities, The Jǫtnar, and valkyries. "Heilung" is a German noun meaning "healing" in English.
14:46 ...I mean, white people were tribal too, once. We are all from tribes. This band is Ancient Germanic Tribal - pre-Christianity.
But I know what you mean. I have both Cherokee and Cree in my ancestry - but you wouldn't know it looking at me. You can see SOME features in some of my family but I only got the cheekbones.
I'm more German, Scot-Irish, and French - German being the most recent - my grandmothers German family came over a little before WW2. So this music touches something really deep and ancient within me. It makes me feel connected to my ancestors.
Those are real human forarm bones she uses.
Alfadhirhaiti
Othan
Hamere hippyer, if you want to get into a trance.
All from the LIFA concert.
That said, I don't think anyone understands the Lyrics, without a Translator...the Lyrics-like almost all of HEILUNG-are in proto Germanic (pre Viking). Greets from Germany🤘

The band in full is kinda from all over Europe, mostly Northern and Western Europe afaik
The hammer in the background and the sound of metal sliding across a whetstone are vikings forging and finishing weapons
better late then never mate, glad you covered them
It is throat singing xD
btw those bones maria is using i am pretty sure are human fore arm bones.. at least i think i heard them say that xD
As long as you have the blood and appreciation of your ancestral soul of your origin, do not be ashamed. The red in your hair might indicate celticheritage, as well as native american. Embrace both, because both are rich cultures loving nature and the planet we live on. Be proud.
Thank you for the kind words! Much appreciated.
they have had some native american musicians join them on stage during their US tour
That’s awesome!
Fun fact! StP's Viking lyrics actually are more or less the same as these :) some of them are word by word - let the blade do the talking, so my tongue (shall) become iron is the most understandable part.
tears hearing im the dieng ember of odins sons
So, the intended translation is "War Chant" or "War Magic" in Old Norse. However, it's been pointed out to me recently by a linguist in one of my own comment threads that it could also translate to "War Cost" or "Cost of War," since galdr might be something like in Danegeld or Wergild. Both can be true, however, since the farther we go back in time on the Germanic language branch, the less literal language becomes.
Thank you for the info!
Happened upon another one to add to my request list, Monochromatic Black- Hail the Queen, just dropped few days ago. I heard one of their songs 3-4 yrs ago and really didn’t hit me. This one did!! Vocals sound like Tatiana(Jinjer) and Will Ramos had a daughter, imo anyway
Nice! I added it to the list!
I told ya that imma hook you up on Heilung bro xD
Thanks my dude!
At first I wasn't too sure, since it took a while to get into it, but once the lady started singing, I was floored! It is so mesmerizing. I love the Viking style as well. Viking metal too. Peyton Parrish does some pretty awesome Viking metal. But honestly I love his Viking chants more. His song Ragnarök is phenomenal! It's a Viking chant and it's just amazing! Maybe I like it more becuz he's a man and I just love his voice 😂😅 but he does a lot of other stuff too, a lot of Disney covers, and some other original songs too. A large variety of styles too. He has a lot of amazing songs!
I’ll have to check him out!!
If you liked Marias singing (who could not?!), check out "In Maidjan"! It takes some time to build up... the first half of the piece is sort of an ABC-song but with runes.... but the second half Maria completely stuns me every single time I listen to it. Absolute otherworldly voice-control / soundshaping.
@@LoneStarr1979I'll definitely check it out. And yes her voice is amazing! 💜
krigsgladr translates into War spirit
listen closely to the lyrics .. one wants to slay for blood .. the other wants to keep peace ... it's the dilemma inside a warriors head . remember in old norse "viking" you only get one chance in battle to get to valhalla (heaven)
if you like this ther is alot of bands that makes similer music to this
Don’t be shy, drop them on me!

No! Lol that’s cool!
@@ThunderRooster Well now you know xD
your reaction is perfect, its supposed to be mesmerising, tribal, ritualistic even.
Thank you
I think it means "War Magic".
i thought so too but i was told by multiple people that it in fact means "War spell"
You got spell bound bruh xD
Anyhow here are the lyrics
Min warb naseu
Wilr made thaim
I bormotha hauni
Hu war (hu war)
Hu war opkam har a hit lot
Got nafiskr orf
Auim suimade
Foki afa galande
Hu war (hu war)
Hu war opkam har a hit lot
Min warb naseu
Wilr made thaim
I bormotha hauni
Hu war (hu war)
Hu war opkam har a hit lot
Got nafiskr orf
Auim suimade
Foki afa galande
Hu war (hu war)
Hu war opkam har a hit lot
What am I supposed to do
If I want to talk about peace and understanding
But you only understand the language of the sword?
What if I want to make you understand that the path you chose leads to downfall
But you only understand the language of the sword
What if I want to tell you to leave me and my beloved ones in peace
But you only understand the language of the sword
I let the blade do the talking
So my tongue shall become iron and my words the mighty roar of war
Revealing my divine anger's arrow shall strike
All action for the good of all, I see my reflection in your eyes
But my new age has just begun, the sword is soft
In the fire of the furnace, it hungers to be hit
And wants to have a hundred sisters
In the coldest state of their existence
They may dance the maddest in the morass of the red rain
Beloved brother enemy, I sing my sword song for you
The lullaby of obliteration
So I can wake up with a smile
And bliss in my heart and bliss in my heart and bliss in my heart
Coexistence, conflict, combat
Devastation, regeneration, transformation
That is the best I can do for you
I see a grey gloom on the horizon
That promises a powerful sun to rise, melt away all moons
It will make the old fires of purification, purification
Look like dying embers, look like dying embers
Look like dying embers, look like dying embers
Look like dying embers, look like dying embers
Look like dying embers, look like dying embers
Look like dying embers, look like dying embers
Min warb naseu
Wilr made thaim
I bormotha hauni
Hu war (hu war)
Hu war opkam har a hit lot
Got nafiskr orf
Auim suimade
Foki afa galande
Hu war (hu war)
Hu war opkam har a hit lot
Min warb naseu
Wilr made thaim
I bormotha hauni
Hu war (hu war)
Hu war opkam har a hit lot
Got nafiskr orf
