    I have been following Ken for a little over a year now and have purchased 14-15 of his videos. I bought this 5 disc set last week and have been having a ball. In my opinion, every guitar player, no matter your level of experience, should own this set. I have been playing lead in a band for over twenty years and a guitar picker for over 50 years and I am amazed at what I don't know. Do yourself a favor, beginner or old salt like me, and get this set. You will be glad you did. And, no this no commercial. I have never even spoken to him, just a big fan.

    This is great, I've just discovered your videos this week and I'm loving them. You're style of teaching is second to none, I've been wanting to get into country guitar for a while and now with your lessons I can! I've been looping this rhythm pattern on my Tele all day, it's so much fun to play. Thanks Ken.

    My favorite part about Ken's lessons (other than the fact that they are all simply incredible) is when Ken talks about how hard it is to play something slow. But then Ken playing it slow is still too fast for me! 😂 In all seriousness, though... CountryGuitarChops is thee best.

    Thanks for posting! The groove is in the double downs on the low E. That's the secret here. This also works fine in hybrid style (flat pick plus fingers). But in this case I prefer to play the double downs as down-up.

    Sorry if this has been posted before, but is anybody else noticing that he is playing a different rhythm than the one he is teaching? The one he is teaching actually covers 6 beats, so it would cycle every few measures. Ken, you are fantastic, but is it just me being crazy here?

    • @Lemonsong59
      @Lemonsong59 8 років тому

      Paul Dann I used the bridge pick up on this part of the video, and I have the Seymour Duncan "Vintage Stack" in this Tele. It's a humbucker, so it doesn't hum, and it still pretty much sounds like a single coil. The mid PU is a "Strat Noiseless", and the neck PU is another Seymour Duncan version of the baby humbucker. Thanks!

    • @paul48520
      @paul48520 10 років тому

      CountryGuitarChops It is THE sound for that I have been looking in a TV, but there are so many pickups and marks that it is like that it could not find the way. It is sure that I am going to take one as yours, and believe that you should have a Signature "Ken Carlson".Veré here, in Argentina, if I obtain the necessary thing. A million of thank you friend!

    Man I have just stumbled onto these lessons.. been playin for a while, not a beginner, but for some reason I am struggling with these “country style” pickin type of licks, and playing stable altogether. Never had any kind of lessons so I’m wondering, for a more or less beginner is there some kinda workouts to get my finger memory and what not changed from more of a minor blues style to this beautiful style?

      Hi William. Man, there just isn't a quick and easy answer to your question. I can only suggest that you check out my Beginner/Intermediate Lead Course. Don't be put off by the "Beginner" part in the title, I can assure you that there is something in that section that you probably haven't mastered (just like the most of us). This course goes well into the intermediate range. I teach 8 of the most common scales used in country, and how to mix them together. There are about 80 solo examples too. It is VERY in-depth. Check it out here. countryguitarchops.com/product/beginner-lead-guitar-course/

    Ok. Stupid question here. Just got into country and I love it. Is Ken here using a tube amp or SS? I'm guessing by that beautiful sound it's a tube. Can anyone help me please? Thanks in advance. Keith

    • @CountryGuitarChops
      @CountryGuitarChops  7 років тому

      Hi, I'm using (and prefer) tube amps, but don't let that stop you from trying out the SS and the digital modeling amps. If you prefer the sound of SS or modeling amps, great, just don't become one of these idiots that make it their mission to put down tube amps. Good luck!

      I played with 9.5's for years, which are pretty easy to bend. I switched to 10's about a year ago, but the 9.5's (DaAdarrio) are certainly easier to bend.

      +Greg Elliott Hi Greg! I forget which amp I used for this video, but I think it was a Twin. I don't know why, but to me the start of that pattern sounds more like AJ's "Freight Train" and less than "Chattahoochee". I stand to be corrected.

    • @CountryGuitarChops
      @CountryGuitarChops  8 років тому

      It's a rhythm pattern that will work over (and is played) over many train beat songs, and your right, Freight Train is a good example, probably better than Chattahoochee, but that's the one that came to mind at the moment, and that's the pattern I use to play it most of the time. Thanks for the input James!
