Started playing guitar 8 years ago. Never took lessons and learned solely by watching channels like this. It’s crazy watching this beginners guide video and knowing that I have learned so much over the years. If you’re a beginner it’s all going to be weird and awkward, there will be days you don’t want to play maybe months but just keep going. It gets easier and easier, then it gets hard again 😂 but you will cross that bridge! Good luck everyone!
Yes, I don't play every day and sometimes I don't play at all, but it is great to learn something and then a day or so later, you feel confident playing something from a few days previously. I am teaching myself the chords in each key, with the advantage there is some overlap
@@andrewclarkeguitar im having trouble finding tones and stuff though, i was trying to play whats new scooby doo but i wasnt able to get my amp to sound right..
You are the next Marty Music. I’m only 7 months in and you’ve helped me and kept me from mistakes that have advanced my playing well beyond where most people at my stage are at. Thank you and keep it up!
I started learning the guitar in the middle of COVID in 2020 and videos like these are what I used. I remember being so overwhelmed when I started. But now I play a lot of chords and currently learning the minor scale. Oh how time flies. If you’re beginner, just listen and practice, practice, practice. It’ll be all good.
I was completely stagnant on the guitar for 6 months and you have finally brought me out of that rut. I was playing but not understanding why it works , it drove me insane. I can't begin to thank you enough your lessons are great , more than great . 👌
Thanks for this video. I have restarted my guitar journey. Now I have a proper guitar teacher. Helpful for me to have a discussion on how to have a proper learning roadmap.
I think this is a great topic so people have a road map of where to go next in their guitar learning journey. Otherwise they are going to be driving blind in who knows what direction and hit dead ends and become discouraged. Craig Ewinger
Awesome video! Do you have any advice or tips on becoming a guitar teacher at a music school? What qualifications/degrees do you need, and what are the essential skills to know? I'm thinking about becoming a guitar teacher, but I'm unsure where to start or what to practice. I've played for over 10 years but haven't learned much theory from my teacher. Maybe only a tiny bit. Are there any videos on your channel you recommend I watch that can help me work towards preparing to become a guitar teacher. I want to ensure I'm fully ready before applying for a job at my local music school. Thanks!
Great question, but I may not be the best person to answer that. I have no formal education or qualifications. I took some private lessons on and off in middle school, but I'm otherwise self-taught. What I teach comes from the perspective of a guitarist who gigged a lot and had to figure out shortcuts and systems that worked for me. It wasn't until much later that I started learning theory and was able to apply it to the little systems I had come up with. It's those systems that I mostly share on this channel. If you want to dig into more theory, I'd highly recommend watching this video of mine: ua-cam.com/video/dHKwodTRKN0/v-deo.html
@ Thanks! I will check out this video. I will continue watching more of your videos as well. I watched the one you did about figuring out songs by ear, and it was so helpful. I followed along with it, and it worked like a charm.
Would it be worth it to skip the pentatonic scales and go straight for the diatonic scale? Curious because the styles of music I like definitely use all the notes
In 9:36 there is a difference in the edit and what andrew is saying. Which one do i follow? He says E minor and E major but the chart shows A major and A minor
Udemy has courses, also he told you about his course in this video. Learn theory from a guitar perspective. If you are still lost start with piano. It's more visually representative of theory.
These are all good. I might shake up the order a bit. Moreover focus on two or three in each practice to keep things progressing and not get stuck in a rut. Id also focus on some music history, documentaries, different youtube channels, you bump into new ideas not in your wheelhouse. Primary rule: make it fun. Those 90 percent arent enjoying it enough to keep playing.
Practice time eventually your muscle memory will recognize chords based off the shape of your hand and placement on the guitar takes time just like everything but don't give up and practice that's the main thing

Hi! Maybe you can do a video on bending/vibrato? Curious to see your take. Thanks for your content!
Good suggestion!
I recently joined your Patreon and was going to ask about What To Learn As A Beginner. :)
This was so great! However I have recently learned I need hands...🤗 Glad you didn't say 21 things to know that would of been a bit much...

Omg Just when im in a desperate situation, You show up and actually come with what I needed ^w^
bro literally i was so lost on what to learn next
Haha, that's awesome! Good timing, I guess. ☺
@@swaggyboi-nk9rb Yeah like I love learning and there is so many things to learn but my biggest problem is that I don’t know how structure things
Just what I needed to get started.
Would it be worth it to skip the pentatonic scales and go straight for the diatonic scale? Curious because the styles of music I like definitely use all the notes
Yes, that's perfectly fine!
In 9:36 there is a difference in the edit and what andrew is saying. Which one do i follow? He says E minor and E major but the chart shows A major and A minor
I say "E Major Shape" and "E Minor Shape" bar chords. Because these A Major/Minor chords use the "E Shape" to create the bar chord.
Good video
Glad you enjoyed!
Your techings and techniques are super good ...very sound....thank you brother you're Awesome !!
What is a good source and way to learn scales on the guitar?
Udemy has courses, also he told you about his course in this video. Learn theory from a guitar perspective. If you are still lost start with piano. It's more visually representative of theory.
Learn theory from a piano perspective if you get lost. Its easy to visualize chords on a piano.
Learning to play Neon is a long term goal☠️

how do you remember chords
Practice
Practice time eventually your muscle memory will recognize chords based off the shape of your hand and placement on the guitar takes time just like everything but don't give up and practice that's the main thing
Repetition. The same way you learned everything you know basically.
Learn one chord at a time.
Same way you remember to wipe🤘
Everything is fun and game until I get to my +- level 13-20.
