    Totally enjoyable how you make this appear all so simple Shaun. Nice touch with the contrasting printed red cover. Snow may melt away here this weekend, again. Getting late into spring very quickly. Happy Gardening! Stay Spicy! -Bob...

    I love how neat it all turns out. I make similar random things and it is just a bunch of nonsense hidden in a box. Well done, and thanks for your efforts.

      Thanks Brad....yeah I have plenty of projects like that...wires just jammed in wherever. Getting the 3D printer has been brilliant, definitely a lot more satisfying to hold the end product!

      @@ChilliChump2 If you ever get the chance I'd love to know what kind of heater you have in your green house. I'm trying to temperature control my seed starting area but to hook up a regular heater to an stc 1000 seems just plain dangerous. I saw the one in your greenhouse looks like an oversized aquarium heater. With no exposed elements or anything that seems a safer, less fire-harzardy option. Cheers.

      I don't have a heater in my greenhouse. I have one in my growtent though. That is just an oil filled heater. Was the most efficient way I could find of doing it.

      @@ChilliChump2 Thanks for the reply Chilliman. I was sure I saw a metre long cylindrical heater in there somewhere but obviously I'm too stupid to own a computer. The one in the ferminator would probably serve the purpose and I guess that I could look that up. Cheers for being such a stand up guy. And I still desperately need to see white super hot sauce. Take care in these weird times.

    Enjoying these Videos. I used to design things like these from this size to 100+ I/O, motors heaters and stuff but fortunately I alway had some one else to make the control panel and do the wiring. This will be a new experience. They were PG16 Cable Glands btw, horrible things :-)). Wish I could afford a 3-D Printer, I can think of lots of things to make with it. Some actually needed :-D.

    What are the inserts you're using in your box? I usually just under size a hole on items I print that will need screws. I'd like to try the insert method. Looks more durable. Also, do you just have a small tip on the soldering iron or is it something special? I gave the same model soldering iron.

    • @ChilliChump2
      @ChilliChump2  4 роки тому

      They are called threaded heat set inserts. The bit on my soldering iron is a special bit to do this (got it from farnell if I remember correctly)

    Everything looks good, however, i would highly recommend you add fuses for both the controller power supply and each of the individual relayed outputs. small cost increase but it stops you from burning down your shed if something goes tits up.

    • @ChilliChump2
      @ChilliChump2  4 роки тому

      the plug is fused which goes to mains. that is standard for UK plugs. I have tested with inline fuses on my relays and board, and the mains plug is first to failure.

    • @blakedoan2394
      @blakedoan2394 4 роки тому +1

      @@ChilliChump2 I did not know UK plugs were fused. that's quite a nice feature :) In Canada they would rather you burn your house down then add a dollar to the manufacturing cost :P

    Mains power supply and USB power supply conflict?
    When you add a mains power supply to power the ESP32, do you need to take care not to connect a USB cable from your computer to the ESP32 any more? I have read that if you hook up the ESP32 to a computer via a USB cable while supplying power to the ESP32 pin (VIN?) this may cause unexpected behavior because you will be back-powering the USB port, which could confuse or damage your computer. Any thoughts on that?

    Great video as ever thanks. A couple of questions if I’m not thinking again of schedule; If the environment is more humid would you use a different sensor in a sealed case and if remember correctly your greenhouse is solar powered, do you link everything into an inverter or just use 12v.

    • @ChilliChump2
      @ChilliChump2  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Graham,
      No need for a different sensor...the sensors I am using (both types) are fine in a very humid environment as they are.
      And I showed in the video, this project is for my shed with my grow tents....which is running off mains. I use 12V and DC only in my greenhouse, running off my solar system...inverters are a waste of energy.

    • @graham-kirby
      @graham-kirby 4 роки тому

      ChilliChump2 Thanks for the comment. I have already created a unit that has four DH22 modules for four cupboards in our garage that hold any preserves / canned goods we make, plus I have just added a fermentation / home brew fridge, thanks for that. The sensors you are using look to be far more accurate and will allow me to be more proactive, next step our 6 x 8 greenhouse with no power.

    Great video! I have a similar system in my greenhouse, but you keep coming with new ideas! Is the bme280 a lot better then the dht22? Looking forward to your servervideo. I think I need to order some new diy stuff soon! Thanks #stayspicy

    • @ChilliChump2
      @ChilliChump2  4 роки тому

      The BME280 is much better with humidity readings. The DHT22 is more of an indicative reading for Humidity (temperature is fine). It is just a little more limiting than the DHT22 if you want to have many of them!
