What's your favorite Chris Stapleton song? Have you seen him live?
Never him live there's quite a few favorites actually
Top 5
Might as well get stoned
Parachute
When the stars come out
Starting over
Hard living love that Waylon Jennings phaser sound he got going on that one.
Although number five could alternate any day I would also have to say fire away sometimes
Fire Away! Seen him more times than I can count. Started following him in his bluegrass
All of them!
I saw Stapleton about a month before he was on the Grammy’s with Timberlake (when he really blew up). It was a small club in a shopping center and he was fantastic. It was a 3 piece set up with Morgan singing harmony, just like Kenny described. It’s a top 3 show for me.
Favorite song would probably be “I was wrong” or “Cold”. The vocals on those two are unreal.
So many great songs, but if I had to choose one I'd go with Cold. Not seen him yet, hoping he'll visit the UK soon!
Kenny Vaughan is an icon in his own right. He deserves far more credit and recognition than most people realize. Great talent, great work ethic, he is a true journeyman and has been a major contributor to the music industry for long enough to be considered an integral fixture. Thank you Kenny.
I love Kenny and Marty. Kenny is a beast of a player. Please let him know that he is greatly admired and respected by his fans. We are out there.
Love the site Otis thank you ! Please tell Kenny to write a bio he’s not only a great guitarist but an amazing story teller , he needs to put his story down it would be a shame to lose all of his experiences. Truly amazing !
Him and Marty Stuart both.
Stapleton really seems to have his head on straight. He deserves all the acclaim given him. The best cross over artist in country music along with everything else in his gear bag.
Kenny vaughn is the man, one of my favorite guitar players ever. Great story, thanks otis
Kenny blew me away first time I saw him. Totally agree.
I gotta say I have seen a ton of shows. never heard a musician say a "listening crowd" ..... I'm a listener I pay good money and want to remember the show. Kenny is one of the best. and gracious too Thanks Kenny !!!
Walking digestive tracts🤣 .. Fully enjoy the variety and all the other story tellers. Each unique and and interesting in their own right. As I always say, "This is the the best show on the internet!" (to me). Thank Mr Otis, I still give a damn! . . . Kyle from Arizons🌵
I remember seeing Kenny Vaughn a long time ago playing for a bunch of different bands. He was a sort of goofy looking guy who played great and I was always watching him. A buddy of mine had a band for about 40 years, a very decent cover band, we were talking about great lead pickers and I thought Kenny Vaughn was about as good as there was. He said he didn't know who he was, I told him he was about 6feet tall with glasses that made him look like a someone nerdy guy from the fifties and he played for lots of different bands. My buddy said, "I know who he is and damn he is amazing". I don't know what it was about him that made me notice him back in the late 70s playing lead for someone but the first time i saw him I could not take my eyes off him. I have heard him on other interviews and he is just a cool dude. Chris Stapleton is amazing and I remember the first time I saw Marty Stuart, he was on a show playing mandolin with John Prine and someone else. He was wearing one of his Nudy suits and long hair, I love John Prine but I also had to watch Marty Stuart the whole show too. I could listen to you interviewing Kenny Vaughn reading a phone book, to have been to a show with Kenny Vaughn playing with Marty Stuart and the main act being Chris Stapleton must have been some kind of special, putting in an occasional Micky Raphael on harmonica, that would have given anyone an eargasm.
I first saw Kenny playing with Lucinda Williams. If I remember correctly he had a Mod haircut and was wearing a dark velvet suit. He got my attention as well!
Saw Marty and Kenny once, what a cool, one of a kind band!
Here's a playlist of Kenny telling stories.

THANK you!
His work with Steeldrivers was incredible. I mean he's still incredible, but I really love those songs he was doing back then.
Kenny and Marty are the best of the best. Can't get enough of them and the Fabulous Superlatives. But I didn't realize Kenny was such a good storyteller. I would definitely buy his memoir if he ever writes one. Kenny is the real deal.
Kenny Week !!! Woooo Hoooo ☮️💜🎶
I hear as much Chicago Blues, or Memphis as much as I hear Nashville in Chris's music. It's why I love his music so much! There's no one genre that can contain that Man...just say'n...
I got to meet and hang out with Chris Stapleton way back when he was with the steel drivers. Nice guy.
I have seen Chris Stapleton live twice, in 2018 and 2021. 2018 Marty Stuart and Brent Cobb opened. Kenny was playing with Marty and they were rocking. Chris Stapleton is always fantastic. Love Kenny's stories, thanks for sharing.
Big respect for Chris Stapleton and his way of doing things. He's got a big playlist of great stuff, but my favorite will always be his standard - Tennessee Whiskey. Ironically, I found it running through my mind this morning as I did chores - before I tuned in this morning and found this new video. Coincidence is a strange thing......Thanks to Kenny Vaughan for confirming what we already knew about Chris - that he's the real deal. Great video.
That song has been around forever and Chris kills it.
A awesome interview about Chris thanks for sharing Otis keep up the great and Gods blessings for you and all your family
“ Those people aren’t even home” 🤣🤣🤣Those who know, know Kenny Vaughn. Those who don’t need to.
1st time i heard him play was with marty stuart i have liked him ever since great guitair player and story teller i watch you all (MARTY STUART SHOW) alot on you tube way to go!
Thanks for doing these interviews. You and the late Joe Chambers are much appreciated. Best to you...
Otis, you and Kenny make some great videos. I love Kenny with Marty…those guys sound so good together.
Love Kenny's stories.
P.s. Otis your the man and I could listen to Kenny V tell stories for hours. Kenny can bend the strings with the best that ever lived so humble!
I love it! Kenny is wonderful
Can listen to Kenny all day long... playing or story telling...
This this channel Otis and am a big fan of yourself Kenny and and chris respect coming from Ireland
Just love everything about this. The conversation, the visuals, the do se do at the beginning, the length. Bite sized long form. Brilliant.
Excellent
Thanks Otis and Kenny.
I'm suddenly a Chris Stapleton fan. Thanks Kenny, and Otis! My favorite song is the only one I know, "Tennessee Whiskey". Damn! It's got everything.
I'm going to have to listen to him. I'm sure Ive heard him but I'm not familiar with his stuff. I will definitely be checking him out. Kennys recomendations have a lot of weight with me.
He’s fantastic. Check our “barely alive” “fool me again “ “I was wrong” and you’ll be hooked.
@@erikernst7714 3 of his CD's are being delivered tomorrow.
A cool guy talking about another cool guy!
Otis I saw Chris on my birthday in 2019 in Memphis. Wonderful show. Kenny is right about it being stripped down. Nothing flashy and just a wonderful sound. He plays down his guitar playing ability but he’s a fantastic player. My favorite song in probably Midnight Train to Memphis. Plus I’m a huge fan of The Jompson Brothers. Love all their stuff. Peace brother✌️
I just love Kenny vaughn...
Kenny gives great interviews with you man...nice
boy i love that 'country music got a hold on me'
Had a great time meeting Kenny and Marty at Master Musicians Festival in Somerset this year. Whole band was legendarily good, man.
Otis- always great to see Cousin Kenny- great storyteller as well monster guitarist. But who took down saturday am coffee chat? I was traveling over the weekend and checked last night -it was still there. Got up late, got me a cup a joe , flipped open the chromebook and it was gone!
Good stuff. I ain't got to Stapleton yet, still working on this Kenny Vaughn guy, what a gem!
Checking in from Fountain Square
Great interview
I saw several Kenny gigs around Nashville during my nine years. Some of the cool.ones were his CD release gig at Ernest Tubb Record Shop with Marty's band and Chris Scruggs on Steel Guitar, his trio with the organ player at Mercy Lounge, the bar on 12th, Marty's band at Midnight Jamboree, Mike Farris in store at Grimey's, great well rounded player.
My favorite Chris song is Death Row. I have seen him live 2 times. He is amazing. Nashville Amphitheater and Bridgestone live ..Wow such great music
I love hearing these stories first hand from real musicians. Thanks Otis
I could listen to Kenny share his stories and pick guitar forever.
Really enjoy Kenny. When you interview him.
Great thanks Ottis saw Chris twice 10,000 people 3 piece band it was great
Very cool stories. Kenny has to be one of the few people whose first exposure to Chris Stapleton was in the studio.
I am a fan of the Steeldrivers, the Jompson Brothers, and his solo stuff.
Very cool to have Mickey Raphael joining the lineup on stage when he is available too.
Amen on the addition of Mickey. He makes everyone he plays with sound better.
When Kenny Vaughn talks, I listen.
Some years back a friend suggested listen to Steeldrivers & he was right, man what an incredible band, musician excellence for sure but... who is the guy singing? Man his voice ! And that was me learning who Chris Stapleton is... I can't help but get choked up listening to "Daddy don't pray here anymore" (I think that's the song title.) So forlorn lyrics and Chris's delivery makes me miss my Dad ~ gone 20 years now, still hurts not being able to talk to him.
A Jamey Johnson crowd is a lot like what Kenny described a Stapleton crowd to be. I’ve even heard JJ admonish a crowd when it started getting rowdy.
My fav Stapleton song might be ‘Might As Well Get Stoned’. I love the double entendre.
I could listen to Kenny all day and Otis as well thanks otis
Always love hearing Kenny tell stories. He's produced a couple of records for a buddy of mine named Rob McNurlin and they're just great country albums.
That’s Awsome That Chris is down to earth !! I’m glad he made it !! Most of the execs in the music biz these days don’t like that style of music !! I play my own style no matter what !!
Another great interview!
Thanks a bunch
Love Kenny, would like to hear more about his learning of guitar, he is amazing!
I replace all of my speakers with AlNiCo speakers. In fact, in my tweed champ, I ordered a 60 year old 6 " AlNiCo speakers and an old 50's Sylvania 12AY7 and a 50's Motorola 6v6 and it sounds wonderful!
MORE KENNY VAUGHAN! And Thanks Otis
Awesome love the Stapleton stories ✌️😎 I’m not a very good guitar player but I totally dig jamming along with Oklalona Tenn. rhythm guitar only 🤣✌️
I wanna hear Kenny tell more Grateful Dead stories!!
Saw Chris Stapleton play to a local county fair audience, I’m august of the same year traveler dropped. It was a killer gig and probably the last time he played a venue that small. The next tour he was playing hockey arenas and amphitheaters
I’ve got some dead stories too. As far as traveling and seeing them I mean. Amazing days I’ll always think about Jerry
@@riceflatpicking4954 I’d love to hear them!!
Man, I just want to say, I really enjoy all your videos. Thanks for putting them out here.
Love this channel Otis! Keep it up Brother!
"Walking digestive tracks!" {]X^{D}
Walking digestive tracts might be the best description of an inebriated person that I've ever heard.
Great inside story!
Damn, Kenny please write a book
I would love to hang with Kenny...he seems like a really cool salt of the earth kind of guy who has great stories and is a monster player.
Cousin Kenny is back! Hope you’re well Otis. Join Otis’ Patreon people. This stuff is gold
Vaughn is just smooth as suede....and plays his ass off...
I was at a Stapleton show in Toronto outside, when he hit 'Might As Well Get Stoned' the audience exuded a cloud of pot smoke, That's a listening crowd.
chris stapleton could play blues like b.b. king..very talented guy.
Spinning Hoosier national pretty regular lately. Great lp. Sound quality is exceptionally good on the vinyl. The artwork is magnificent and it has a lot of mojo. Just wanted to let people know.
I like “Them Stems”.
Would so love to see a discussion with Kenny about Bill Frisell.
Traveling all day for work. Check in to hotel ....now time for the Otis rabbit hole. Be well
Please do the story on Paul Kennerly.
White Mansions is beyond incredible. The sequel, The ballad of Jesse James is phenomenal. And the only music I have heard with Mr. Kennerly, properly on it: Misery With a Beat. Also phenomenal.
Love Kenny's appearances, always great. I'd drive him crazy about Merle, though.
Cool cat.

Joy of My Life, John Fogerty song writer
Otis and Kenny, could be cool like a song. BTW would you post your post office box number again. Thanks
Gave all my gear to Jason Paxton. Bass player from Outshyne.
Govt Mule is a lot like Stapleton
Cuzzn K is a right nice feller
I guess I’ve always had the wrong impression of Chris Stapleton, I had the impression that he was kind of arrogant and pompous, I guess I was way off on that, sorry Chris, I’m a bigger fan of Jompson Brothers/ Steel Drivers stuff rather than the newer stuff though. Thank you Otis and Kenny for sharing this great video
thanks again OG, now is it just me or how can folks afford 2022 arena tix $ ? Club shoes at 40 $ ok but arena shows are extortion. imho. He rescheduled from 29 April til 08 Sept...
Im into straight classic rock guitar gods etc and I cant keep Chris out of my ears.
I have always thought the best country singers either grew up poor, had a tough life due to what happened growing up or both, if not they were ones who drank too much/did dumb things and had stories from that side of life.
Need a Dean Dillon segment……🎸
Alnico 🤚
Isn’t Tennessee whiskey just “i’d rather go blind”, by Etta James? No harm in that of course.
He plays the blues even if his fans don't know it
😁
If i had to listen to Eric Church I Would Have To Be Drunk
And Mickey played that night,
Kenny Vaughn is cooler than an Eskimo fart! 👍🏻
160$ lawn seats. That’s different
I'd have to say Dr. Hook and his Medicine Show is the drunkest I've seen...nobody died though
Not a huge fan of Chris Stapleton songs. I'm a huge fan of a songwriter hitting that level of success and Yola being on his tour.
