Cuz always brings a smile to whomever is listening. I would love to spend a day listening to his behind the scenes stories. BUT...the difference between a good or great interview is on account of who is asking the questions. Great repost Otis. But I've never watched a bad interview on your UA-cam channel. Thanks Otis...I would bet you have one or two we haven't heard yet. Thanks again bd best of health to you and your my good man...❤
Kenny embodies both the sophistication of a master and the child-like wonder and humility of an eternal student. So fun and enlightening to listen to him speak.
I already saw most of these interviews, but I am in awe that he remembers all of the amps. He is the ultimate guitar nerd who got to play and hang with the legends. He's the only guy who I could see playing with the Ramones and then with someone like Dolly Parton and fit in. He is one of one, no one like him.
This is part 1 of a 3 part compilation of Kenny Vaughan interviews. I'm hoping this will make it easier for people to find all of these stories. These are clips from interviews I've done with Kenny over the years, so feel free to share this video with anyone who might enjoy it. Here's part two: ua-cam.com/video/pQ_0xefROTc/v-deo.htmlsi=VHyF6aXd-dpajE6- Here's Part three: ua-cam.com/video/hwpLW1r8GJE/v-deo.htmlsi=iZGiWXbq481YdcrA
I love what Kenny said about Tom Petty putting more of himself into his music than most would, and how that little band was Us Against The World. I saw it when I worked in a record store when the first album came out. That was right when all these mega albums were coming out from the Bee Gees and Donna Summer. And here comes this catchy little guitar record that grabs your ear right away, and then Tom sings, "It's alright if you love me/It's alright if you don't", and that was it. They got their foot in the door with that song, and they never slowed down! So many rock anthems, real rock and roll anthems. TP dying hurt me so bad, like I know it did a lot of people. Damn, I'm not crying, you're crying!
Yeah it's always a pleasure hearing Kenny talk about all of the musical experiences of his life...He is one of my favorite storytellers. I think he really touched on what Petty was all about, music was the most important thing in his life. His phenomenal songs are a testament to that. His death really hit me hard too, I really couldn't listen to him for about a year after that. It hurt too much. What a tragic loss.
About a week ago I stumbled upon on of these Kenny Vaughan. Knowing next to nothing about country music, I didn’t know who Kenny is but a quick search for him playing and I was quickly educated about the stellar, top notch guitarist and musician that he obviously is . As a popular music history junky, I am so loving these deep dive interviews, thank you for making the time space and energy to create these fascinating interviews. 🙏🏼💜✨
Kenny you one of da best stories ,guitar etc.I’m 82 could listen to your stories all night long especially that Tom Petty barbecue and listening to Slim Harpo & Big Chester on boom box
I had the distinct pleasure of playing with Kenny in the late 70's. He and his pink Strat! Hey Kenny, congratulations on all the well deserved success.
Kenny is one of the very best raconteurs with his wealth of interesting musical history and his own experience of so many incredible musicians. He's the genuine article on so many levels- a great guy.
The Jimmy Bryant memorial bridge is 1/4 mile from my shop in Moultrie, GA. Stonewall Jackson wasn't born here, but this was his home town. I love these interviews, and Kenny Vaughan is a treasure.
What a great interview! I saw that show where Kenny was with Lucinda on that tour with Dylan and Van Morrison. I was already a big fan of Lucinda and that was the first time seeing her. Most of the people around us didn't know who she was, but man, my wife and I were totally excited to see her. And Kenny! He had tone for miles and killer phrasing. Everything about his persona and what he was doing on guitar floored me and I became a fan that day. It was my favorite set from that tour.
Absolutely my personal favorite of your flavors. Having Kenny talk bout Dylan, is as cool as it gets…need more details & insights of his memories. Thanks Otis.
Dude Otis! I live on the Gulf Coast of Texas and I noticed that Marty Stuart & The Fabulous superlatives are playing San Antonio this fall, I am not even a Marty fan, but I am going to drive 3 hours just to be in the same room as Kenny! A large part because of your great interviews!
Thanks, Otis. I love Kenny Vaughn and his stories. He had a perfect life growing up. Just my humble opinion as I find it so interesting and perfect for a person going into music.
Saw Kenny with Lucinda at a little theatre in Akron Ohio, the Highland. One of the best shows I’ve ever watched. Lucinda commented that the acoustics there were unparalleled, we’ll have to come back. They never did.
Honestly Otis you could be like the David Letterman of UA-cam. I Literally get to the point where I run out of things that I want to listen to and I just go back and check your Kenny interviews over and over. I love that guy. He is so bad ass. You two should think about doing like a pod cast together. I’m serious between the two of you. That would be fricking awesome. Thanks

Great interviews! Kenny is definitely one of the top guitarists around. Kenny reaffirms that the best musicians are not in it for the money. I think his thoughts on Tom Petty were right on. Thanks!
Otis I really love your videos, you have some very good content. When you are by yourself, or you are enterviewing someone, your content is always awesome.I enjoy the stories and learn a lot of interesting things that I dont see anywhere else on youtube. Thank you for sharing this you are appreciated.
Did I ever mention my coworker Otis? He had one hell of a green thumb 👍 Always brings a smile to my face seeing you on here. You're a good good man, certainly paid your dues if anyone ever has!
I had to stop the playback for a second to write one of the gazillion road dog guitar player memories Kenny evokes in me everytime i get to hear him testify. I might possibly be a little older than kenny (and you too Otis;-) but the chronicles of intsrtuments, live performance, and artists Kenny shares is always dead on point for me. -During Covid lockdown I spent the summer geting into Way out West and became a huge fan of Marty and of course Kenny on guitar. It all makes total sense now how they got together with Mike (Campbell) to record the album. I have to ask is Mike why Kenny gravitated to useing a Rickenbacker 12 string so much on the Album and tour? How about Marty's comparing the band bus to Willie Nelsons?;-). As always thanks Kenny for being so cool, and Thanks also to you too Otis for the same.. Really great stuff!..
I saw Kenny play in Nashville more than anybody. I saw him with Marty. I was at his cd release at Tubbs with Marty' s band and Chris Scruggs. I saw gis Organ trio at Mercy Lounge. I saw his Jazz trio at a watering hole on 12th. i saw him playing with Mike Farris at Grimeys.
Was hesitant to click on the vid as its an hour long but glad I did. Kenny is great story teller and seems like a fun guy to be around. No wonder Tom Petty called him to join him and his band for dinner.
I saw Bob Dylan live a few times and each time I was under whelmed. The last time most of the crowd was talking to the person next to them not even paying attention. On one song the applause was delayed because nobody realized he stopped. They were too busy talking. For the life of me I don’t see how he became famous.
Great memories from Kenny. Slight timeline correction. The first time Kenny heard Jimi must have been Feb 14 in Denver in the early days of the 1968 US tour. Soft Machine was the support act on that tour which started in February. Soft Machine had never been to the US until then and they were completely unknown. They had not even made their first LP at that time. Kenny is correct about the opening two numbers; Up From the Sky's and Foxey Lady. I saw Jimi March 2 1968 at Hunter College NY City and that is exactly the same two numbers he played that night. And Yes! Soft Machine were absolutely incredible. We did not think Jimi would be able to follow. How wrong were were. I saw Jimi 2 more times in 1968 and twice in 1969; Madison Sq Garden in May and Woodstock. Peace.
Wow! So happy I landed here after jumping on that three piece big at Dee's in Nashville. Always dug that dude with the glasses on Stuart RFD never knowing who it was. Twas fate. Now I'm one of the cool kids
The show that taught country music to a new generation was Hee Haw with Buck Owens and Roy Clark. We were young and getting an introduction to country music from our dad. It would take me years to appreciate how much talent was on that show. I still watch the old episodes.
I assume it's a kinda like an unwritten rule because everyone knows how private he is. Even his kids like Jacob when he's interviewed he wont mention him. Nobody wants to be in Bob Dylan's bad book.
Like hearing Kenny's experience. Finally got to see him Marry + the Superlatives in Delaware. Got COVID few weeks before show got over it but was having the dragging ass feeling hope they come back again
Listening to this reminds me of reading liner notes on the backs of the albums, and memorising the jokes and patter between the songs. Thanks for illustrating your world.
Love ya Otis, the Kenny interviews are so good , he is such a good guy and history of amps, guitars and artist is amazing , WHAT A memory. His humor is funny.
I remember back when Walter Carter was selling my Fender Twin Reverb Prototype-there was a black spray painted Bassman there. Could you imagine if it was Bucks? Probably not-but wow! lol
Kenny Vaughn is my favorite of all the enterviews you do.
Even though I have heard all of this previously, I never get tired of listening to kenny tell stories or play guitar.
I feel the same way Andrew
Agreed!
I was thinking that same thing the whole time I was listening to this!
Cuz always brings a smile to whomever is listening. I would love to spend a day listening to his behind the scenes stories. BUT...the difference between a good or great interview is on account of who is asking the questions.
Great repost Otis.
But I've never watched a bad interview on your UA-cam channel.

Thanks again bd best of health to you and your my good man...❤
Same.
Kenny is the coolest cat because he never tries to be cool, he just IS. 💪🏻
Right on!!
Very well said!
He never promotes himself and underlines the importance of other artists.
That Lefty Frizzell Bigsby necked Jumbo Gibson elevates my heartbeat. Would love to pick on it a bit.
I saw that guitar at the Country Music
Hall-Of-Fame in Nashville
R. I. P.
LEFTY🇨🇱 FRIZZELL
Kenny embodies both the sophistication of a master and the child-like wonder and humility of an eternal student. So fun and enlightening to listen to him speak.
So well said, gator.
It's so impressive how Kenny is such a fan of music, its history and other musicians. He's all in.
I already saw most of these interviews, but I am in awe that he remembers all of the amps. He is the ultimate guitar nerd who got to play and hang with the legends. Yeah man me too, there awesome!

Outstanding. Great that you are compiling these. I've seen them all several times, yes this will be much easier now. Thanks.
Looks more like a “motel” Otis. Nothing wrong with that. All I need is clean sheets and the light left on for me.
Thank you Otis
This is great! Anyone who isn't a KV fan needs to be!!
Great stories. Thanks. I read that Buck Owens [and Roy Clark] played guitar on some of the Wanda Jackson rockabilly records. Don’t know which ones.
This is music history. Kenny is a link to the past but with a modern touch. So great. Greetings from Sweden.
More interviews with Kenny please. Love his storytelling style.

Kenny Vaughan’s greatest hits. Simply the best. The true polymath.
Kenny Vaughan is a human data base who specializes in music. LOL. I enjoy every minute of your Kenny Vaughan sessions. Thank you.
How can the number of views not match the THUMBS up?? come on.....this is fabulous to hear, as Otis makes these for us the FANS.
The Jimmy Bryant memorial bridge is 1/4 mile from my shop in Moultrie, GA. Stonewall Jackson wasn't born here, but this was his home town. I love these interviews, and Kenny Vaughan is a treasure.
I was born and raised on Moultrie GA. I now live in Jacksonville but you can bet on my next trip to Moultrie, I will be looking for that bridge. 👍
Love hearing Kenny! I just saw him last night with Marty near Bardstown, KY. What an awesome musician!
Agree with Otis. Impossible to beat out Bob. Love listening to Kenny's stories.
I LOVE when you have Kenny on - Bet hanging out with him is a great vibe.

Thanks for the Great stories Kenny, I wish that I could play a Guitar Half as good as you do, you are the Man, Cousin Figel
Saw Kenny with Lucinda at a little theatre in Akron Ohio, the Highland. One of the best shows I’ve ever watched. Lucinda commented that the acoustics there were unparalleled, we’ll have to come back. They never did.
Hey Buck, you gotta show me how you jump those freight trains sometimes man. Bahahahaha Loved it. Great story
Merle, not Buck?
Guess I heard wrong.
@@keithcamic1555 Or I did ;)
“Hey, Bob!”. Bob Dylan. Not Buck.
Kenny has played with everybody and has so many great stories...also a fantastic guitar player. Thanks for posting this, Otis.
Love Kenny's insightful take on the "Outsider" of Petty and band. Integrity.
I saw you Kenny at Turnip Truck grocery store in West Nashville recently but didn’t want to bother you. Cheers brother!

Otis and Kenny are the nicest & coolest cats on the whole internet.
Mighty fine!!! That lead guitar player is on fire!!!❤️🔥🔥
K.V. Another badass American! 🇺🇸Of course Otis too. 👍

That was awesome Otis. Great story’s.

He's got some great stories, really enjoyed that
Georgie Fame! My hero!!! And Kenny is one of the top treasures on You Tube.

"I need the $20 back"... Man I could just hear that one coming.
Otis, I just love how you enrich my life
Otis... i love your vids 😊
The show that taught country music to a new generation was Hee Haw with Buck Owens and Roy Clark. We were young and getting an introduction to country music from our dad. It would take me years to appreciate how much talent was on that show. I still watch the old episodes.
Great!
Love the content thanks again
Kenny - did you play for the Sweet Hearts of the Rodeo when they played on Austin City Limits? I saw them and really liked the sound and looks.
Most guys don't talk about Dylan for some reason. It seems to be a forbidden thing.
You don't tug on Superman's cape 😁
I assume it's a kinda like an unwritten rule because everyone knows how private he is. Even his kids like Jacob when he's interviewed he wont mention him. Nobody wants to be in Bob Dylan's bad book.
Hail Hail Kenny Vaughan!!
Great stories thank you...
Country Joe - that takes me back!
Like hearing Kenny's experience. Finally got to see him Marry + the Superlatives in Delaware. Got COVID few weeks before show got over it but was having the dragging ass feeling hope they come back again

Kenny is awesome! Hilarious stuff!
Cuz!!! And the thumbnail is killer!!
Janis and Kristine definitely dressed to the 9’s…miss them. Love listening to Kenny talk. 67 Hendrix…Wow!
That drummer for Buck was Jerry Wiggins.
56:50……when Kenny Vaughn says “I gotta tell this story”, whatever I’m doing is on hold.
Kenny makes me feel like I'm in a "Cracker barrel" band. Lol.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Great personal stories. And impressions.😊
I love this channel, If you love music you have to give this a listen because it's epic
Kenny is coolest cat ever. I would love to meet him and hang for an hour. Greatest guitar picker going.
