One thing to note is that the Apollo Venus plan would've also used two LMDE engines for the SM as opposed to the usual AJ10-137

I'd figure sending two identical atmospheric probes can be useful, since it allows you to do the same measurements in different places and/or times and get some idea of the range of values.

Any chanced on you making a mission similar the movie "The martian"? As in, building the space ship hermes completely on orbit, then going to mars, having a decently big lander that can do up and down once, then returning? I know it would be a big mission but you do those pretty well :)
What manly made me ask is the EVA session at 6:57. I dont know why, but the docking above the blue background with the sun shining on the metal parts and showing the scale of such a "small" craft just hit different

Definitely have had that infuriating engine sound thing. It ruined an entire science playthrough of mine as it was even playing everywhere at the ksc, even in the VAB. Worse thing was that it was the 4 mammoth engines sound that was playing from my dres mission.

I overcame the j2 s2 issue by angling the outer engines out a bit, so the centre engine was safe, while the base of the outer engines stay hidden

As for the engine sound issue that you mentioned, I've had something similar happen recently.
I took off from the KSC, put myself into orbit, and went back to the KSC's tracking station to timewarp to a transfer window. When I then took control of the ship in orbit, I had this pretty annoying constant re-entry sound, kind of like I was cutting through the atmosphere at speed that I could not get rid of, no matter what I tried. The game still said I was in High Orbit, and everything seemed fine, so I have no idea what caused it.
I've noticed that KSP2 still doesn't show the effects of having a liquid fueled rocket "steam" at launch due to the temperature differences. Matt, tell them at the game headquarters, please. Love your shows, dude.
Storable propellants don't steam, like Proton or Titan II+.
I believe you are referring to the deposition and sublimation of water vapor from the atmosphere and off gassing of the tanks.
It would be super dope it they added graphical effects for that
It depends on the propellant. If it is cryogenic like methalox, then the tanks will frost. If it is something like RP-1 (Kerosene), then it will need to be stored at such cols temperatures.
I dont have KSP2 but i watched several streams of it and yes the bug of the persistant engine firing sound happens constantly
I always feel sorry for the kerbals, so its nice that you gave them a little extra living space.

They really need to bring back engine varients from ksp1 so we can properly cluster engines again
13:40 I have this glitch on KSP1 with RCS thrusters sometimes! It'll just constantly play the RCS thruster sound as if I'm holding down any of the IJKL or HN keys
In my game I think it is the seperatrons, I had the emergency ejection thingy and the thruster sound keps going. Not while loading quicksaves though because it was gone pretty early into the mission
always good content as always ! do you know if disapearing station are still a probleme , because i finally made myself a good pc for that game and yet after to lost station im scared to play :(

I personally wouldn't mind if the video spent more time on how the rocket was build.
Can you make a video on how to maneuver in space. I have always only made planes. I can't even get to the moon. I have no clue how to travel in space. But I have made some really excellent planes. I have yet to buy KSP 2. I just have the first KSP.

Plane parts will not work in a vacuum
There is no atmosphere to generate lift, drag or anything like this

My fix for the bug that keeps your engines on(not just the noise) is always just turning the engines on and off and messing with the throttle and that seems to work.
Only the real ones remember when the poodle was a single-nozzle engine

I’ve had the audio bug, it might be related to Eve, because it was on a probe I sent to the surface
I had the same engine sound bug the last time I played. I couldn’t get it fixed, though. I’ll just wait for the next patch and hope for the best.

13:00 looked into this one, and this is indeed a reported bug with SRBs and seperatrons in particular that’s been happening since atleast v0.1.5. I’ve unarchived it over on the bug reports forum :)
At last now Eve has normal looking soil instead of purple just for the sake of it. Its atmosphere is still purple but that works for me.
If you want to smoothly walk on a ship with mag boots than you should tilt your screen along the way
You know what's scary? Given the sheer number of stars in the universe, a solar system exactly the same as the Kerbal one probably exists.
That would be cool, but the planets in KSP 1/2 are more dense than osmuim.

Back in 2018 I started playing KSP 1 but stopped playing for a long time. It was only just recently I started to play it again and I have this idea for a large Duna mission from Kerbin. The mission envilves sending up modules for an inter planetary station that will launch many Kerbals and 2 landers to Duna. The idea is that the station will stay in orbit around Duna while the kerbals take the landers down to the surface (similar to how it was done In the book “The Martian”).
However I’m running into a problem. When I started to send up a module containing the liquid fuel for the station, the thing was to heavy and I had a very hard time trying to dock it to the rest of the interplanetary station.
Do you have any tips? I have watched many of your videos about fairing huge colonies to Duna and the mun, but I’m still stuck with trying to plan the construction of the station.
The key to effective docking is 6-axis RCS, and the key to effective RCS is taking advantage of the vessel’s moment of inertia. Put *extremely* simply, you will be served by putting the RCS thrusters on the big fuel tank on “booms” extending as far out from the tank as possible. If the thrust is far from the center of mass, it will make maneuvering far more responsive and use less fuel to do so. To save on part count once you have the tank docked, attach the booms themselves to (two way) separators. Once docked, you can eject the RCS booms from the tank to get them out of the way.

I think the reason an F1 rocket engine equvalent isn't in KSP 2 is because they were so powerful both America and Russia swore to never use them again.

For some reason, always when I touch the ground with my lander legs, the legs simple contract and it’s basically useless. I don’t know what to do and there is no tutorial teaching how to mess with them. Maybe it’s bug, but I didn’t saw anyone else with this trouble. Can someone please help me?

A patch is supposed to come later in April. Usually, you can check the KERB updates to see what the devs are currently fixing.

Good challenge idea: The Ultimate Goat Test Challenge
The goal of the challenge is to collect as many points as possible. It is done in a fresh science mode save.
The challenge is done in 3 steps:
*1. Before the challenge begins:*
Before the challenge begins, you will need to get the settings for it. You can even choose multiple at a time. They can't be broken but they will reward you by multiplying the score at the end of the challenge. +X% means that X% of the total score will be added to it. All percentages are summed up first before applying
Hardcore mode (if you kill a Kerbal you lose all of your points, no quicksaves are allowed): +100%
Quicksaveless (already applies if Hardcore mode is active but without the additional reward for it, you CAN die, but still, no quicksaves): +30%
One ton at a time (every rocket needs to weigh at most 1000 tons): +50%
Absurd introvertism (you only have one Kerbal, if he dies, another one replaces them): +70%
Forgot the thingy (no docking allowed): +30%
*2. During the challenge*
The points are scored for landing on the celestial body and returning back to Earth. Each celestial body weighs a specific amount of points:
Eve: 280
Moho: 245
Tylo: 235
Laythe: 210
Vall: 200
Bop: 190
Pol: 175
Eeloo: 165
Dres: 155
Ike: 145
Duna: 140
Gilly: 130
Minmus: 120
The Mun: 110
Kerbin (you need to get to space, land, get to space again and land again, all within one launch): 100
The points will only be earned if a kerbal lands on the celestial body and goes back to Kerbin (a robotic spaceship doesn't count!). If the Kerbal dies on the way back after landing on the body, you will lose half of all the potential points it could've scored if the rocket would've gotten back to Kerbin, for example if you land on Vall and then crash on your way back, you will not gain the 200 points from that launch and only lose 100 points (except if you revert that).
You will also lose 35 points each time you upgrade in the tech tree.
*3. After the challenge:*
You may stop the challenge any time as long as no Kerbal is in space. The points are multiplied by the conditions you chose in the beginning. If your points are negative, you have lost the challenge.
If you are good enough you will get a medal (just a trackmania Easter egg)

i had the engine sound problem with the kesa mod engines, i just fixed it by quickly turning the engine on and off
