From past experiences, when you're unfortunately retrenched (more accurately your role is being replaced) , can PAP told the company to return you to the job or immediately find you another comparable job? Therefore, the life, jobs and future of Singaporean belong only to Singaporean and not PAP. Again this must be clear. As we know the GST rebate is just the rebate of the 2 percent increment but not for the total of 9 percent GST, not withstanding that the government do give rebate to the utility, but please do remember the rebate do not increase when the water fee was increased by 30 percent plus GST is equal to 37 percent, except for this year which was because of the convid 19. I would like to be correct that the GST figure is fix with variable calculation and it will not abolish since DR Vivian had said. But the government did not assure the rebate will be for live time. And will you give your assure that in the coming future there won't be any inflation hike which the GST will eventually increase accordingly together with the price of an item to be increase. And by way the reason for DR Chee to be repeating the issue is because the issue that was discuss or debating is a repeating issue. Thank You. And Pardon me for any impolite.

@Simon Lynn On the "disgusting income inequality" you responded to earlier concerning user Wei Jie Lee, your analogy provided is the epitome of daftness. A goldfish can take you on in a debate and win without trying.
Firstly, what makes you think an industrious person will surely see success 30 years on? You think there aren't other factors at play? You really think that just because one has worked hard earlier in life, he or she will be granted a solid remuneration package automatically? Ever heard of the survivorship bias? Maybe check that out instead of existing as a laughing stock. There are so many who worked harder than you could ever imagine and still end up poor. Why, because of factors such as risk, oppourtunities, luck and connections. You conveniently disregarded these factors in your example. Why are you being partial here? Lack of grey matter in the brain that you can't stay objective?
With the above said, the same can be said of a slacker. A slacker can may up affluent 30 years down the road, why not? A stroke of good luck and other advantageous can get him or her to the top of the wealth ladder without significant effort.
You arrived at your final sentence in your analogy where you asked, "then whose fault is it?"
Why would this be the individual's fault if he or she worked tirelessly and still ended up poor? Is the system pushed out by the ruling party not with a scintilla of fault? Valid it certainly is to mention the "disgusting income inequality" gap among locals. Simply put, not all poor are poor because of a deficit of effort invested.
Damn, you're dumb beyond belief. You mother should have swallowed you. What a shame.

If this were a fair debate to begin with, with the dissolution of parliament, each party would be given the same amount of time to speak.
But let's be honest here, with so much data at PAP's disposal, of course he was going to ask the oppositions about the information they do not have.
Had the oppositions have the same resources (access to information included, i.e reserves) as the PAP, would they not have a clearer picture of how they would implement their policies?
It seems like only 1 party knew about how the sequence of the debate was going to be, of course he would already prepare his questions to the other members.

Does the opposition in any country have full information about the inside scoop of the running of a country? The answer is no. Firstly, im standing at no one's sides to say this. But we need to admit that we do have one of the best healthcare systems in the world. Not many countries provide that much subsidies for people and i feel that the PAP has done a good job in healthcare. To say that the PAP did not do enough and more should be done in Healthcare is completely inaccurate.
Secondly, people repeatedly comment that Dr.Vivian is just repeating his points through each GE but aren't these evidence that the PAP has made actions in contrary to opposition party claims? Its a reminder that the PAP has actually done something.
Thirdly, there are always people who want more. The real thing is have u acknowledged what your government has done for you rather than focusing on your personal benefits. Yes, the government's utmost priority is the people but being over the limits may in turn cause adverse effects to the economy or the welfare of certain sectors of citizens. Thinking rationally, the PAP has done so much that it has made Singapore a pleasant and peaceful place to live in.
I really admire Jamus for his speech, he certainly is a PM material and i believe he can take the country further but ultimately citizens, think as a whole and not for yourself only. Life is never going to be easy, if you think life can be easy with government giving you incentives and you yourself not doing anything then it is the wrong idea.
Lastly, i also want to recognise all opposition parties' efforts they seems to put in lots of effort for this GE. They have massive confidence in their speeches unlike some PAP candidates. I think this is one thing the PAP should learn to not to underestimate anyone cause it seems as if the PAP knows they are going to win and therefore come to this GE with minimal preparations.

Our healthcare system hardware and software provided by the healthcare workers are indeed very good. It's the hard work of the people on the ground that makes it good.
The funding of our healthcare is our much bragged about 3M system. Medisave, Medishield, Medifund. The first two are actually your own money and the last only a very few percent of people qualify. So in the end we pay mostly for our selves. But the government does provide subsidies for the subsidized patients. So for those in subsidized hospital wards , they do "benefit" from those.
However, medishield life premiums are on the rise. Even MOH will not deny it. When u are young, it's not an issue because mostly u don't go to hospitals and when u do, it's covered by company insurance. And the premiums is very low when young.
But when u grow old , the premiums go up significantly. Most retirees don't have much money in their medisave and depend mainly on their children to pay for them. This is not right. The government should make their premiums lower.

Chee on his proposal to decrease unemployed by giving Grants to the unemployed to start businesses. What I feel has not been touched on by the Opposition is that of the policy failures up till COVID-19 in January 2020 - I know that that coronavirus has been spreading in Wuhan a few months earlier - which has exposed the incompetence of the emperor with clothes policies. If the PAP is so confident about the soundness of its policies leading up to the current PREMATURE GE, then why conduct the GE in such a short time and preventing more robust debates and campaigning so that the electorate has more time to get to know various policies, including by the PAP and also by the Opposition.

Many of the job PAP says is creating are short term such as safe distancing ambassadors etc and not covering enough on the arts side. .
All relief packages sound good but how much is actually dispensed and to who?
What's the efficacy of these measures in relieving, generating business and preparing the people for their livelihood after covid? .
The quickest source of funding and a good people binder would be to redistribute some of the minister's pay, which ranks highest in the world. Rule by example, instead of just asking poor landlords who still have mortgages to pay, to give free rental.
What about big corporations like banks who so far have not had to bear the costs of keeping small businesses alive. They continue to charge the usual interests, more if deferrals are requested, thereby squeezing every remaining drop of blood that's left of the SME and landlords of commercial properties who have to waive rental despite having lost employment income and now having no money to pay their mortgages?

Before you cast your vote, ask yourself🤔🤔🤔
"Is my life getting better or worse since GE2011 or GE2015?"
"Will my vote affect the next generation of Singaporeans especially your own children?"
These 2 questions will give the answer who you should vote🤔🤔🤔

The government and PAP are 2 different things. Past returns doesn't mean future returns. Heck, every investment you get into, that clause is there.
A party is a party, and any with the compassion and capabilities can contribute to the country.
We must stop using "opposition" to describe the other parties as they are equally competent of contributing to our country. "Opposition" is a linguistics tool to create a subtle notion to divide them from the rest of us.
Think carefully and vote wisely everyone!

There is so much focus on specific point scoring arguments on both sides , much of it has been discussed and debated for a long time. What’s really at stake is whether the voting populace do believe that aggregation of power and opinion within a single political entity is really a good idea for the long term future of the country. The future of the world is wrought with great uncertainty and new challenges and past glories no longer guarantee future successes. Political structure in Singapore needs to embrace diversities of ideas and opinions and it matters not which political entity it emanates from.

Don't worry lah. PAP will still win a strong mandate to run the country. Hopefully WP and PSP win some seats to keep them on their toes. That's all they can do. They won't form the government.
