Who can this be? Homily for the 12th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year B.

“Who can this be? Even the winds and the sea obey him.” Mark provocatively leaves the question unanswered. It just hangs suspended over the story, leaving the reader to supply the answer. For anyone versed in the Jewish scriptures, for those who know that God alone is sovereign lord over the sea, there is only one possible answer to this question.
