    I was there. Shocked we didn't bump paths. Great job on the footage & races.

      Thanks! Me too. I was there all day Sunday too for MSHS, still working on that vid though. I made it all the way to the end so there's a lot of footage to go through. I did look out for you when I was in the staging lanes in case you were out there but guess the timing never worked out.

    Nice video Chris. Man that index racing looks way harder than bracket racing. Way back in the day what you were doing we called "sandbagging", when you race slower than your actual time. Very difficult to do. Cannot wait to see day two! Thanks~ Anthony

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, the class index is definitely harder to do, especially when it's in a series where you're trying to run the same index but at different times of the year in different conditions at different tracks. At least with bracket it's easier to stay close around your dial-in and you can change it before each run. Some people still sandbag in brackets but I'd rather just try and run my number.

    Great video Chris. I know all about the mistakes one can make index racing😀

    • @Scavenger1320

      Thanks! As long as we learn from them. But also I know I've won races because of the other guy making mistakes too, and sometimes that other guy has been practically a pro, like you'll see in my next MSHS vid!

    Keep these videos up! Been great watching them as I’m looking for a 1320 car to purchase. Used to race a stock block class and looking to get back into it.

    Also a good thing to learn index racing …during your time runs instead of running full out for a time slip practice your spot on the track to let off ..for instance a landmark on the side of the track and let off and see what your et is …it will make it easier racing knowing your “spot”that you need to let off at being your way faster than an 11.50 and you don’t have to worry about breaking out! Try starting at the 1000 ft marker and working forward if need be

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 роки тому +1

      I definitely agree with all that. Watching my footage I can really see how bad I am at knowing exactly where I'm at on the track. Doesn't help that in all my time drag racing I never sat down to learn where and what all the markers are on a dragstrip. I just skipped right past those basics. I didn't think about looking for some sort of landmark either. My next race I think I'll be doing the pre-event track rental so that I can get dialed in a bit better. Thanks for the tips!

    With e85 and bolt ons, you think this car capable of going 6.50s in the 1/8th? I’m in the market for one and just curious

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 роки тому +1

      No, not even with a ton of weight reduction like I've got done. 6.50s equates to around 10.20s in the 1/4. That's 8 tenths faster than my best time in extremely good air. MIGHT be possible with a great tune, headers, bolt-ons plus even more weight reduction than I have along with a 15" conversion, but it would still need crazy good air. I just can't see it happening without also a cam or nitrous.

  • @ilirsaliu4592
    @ilirsaliu4592 2 роки тому +1

    are you only weight reduction or do you have things done and do you think you could cut more weight

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 роки тому +1

      Just weight reduction, the 17" Drag wheels and the cai that comes stock on the T/As. Everything else, tune/motor/trans/driveline/suspension is all stock. I do a full walk-around showing all the weight reduction and talk about it a little at the 5:50 mark in this vid too. There's still some weight reduction I can do, but most of what's left is going to cost money like a 15" wheel conversion or carbon fiber panels. As far as free stuff there's not much meat left on the bone. Biggest free thing left is the A/C but since I live in Dallas where summers regularly see 100+ degree days I'm not ready to go that far yet lol

    • @artillerybuff2000
      @artillerybuff2000 2 роки тому

      @@Scavenger1320 A couple of things left that might help a little; removing the front & rear hood and trunk lid support struts (free lbs.) and replacing the large heavy steel lug nuts with titainum nuts (costs approx. $200, about 3 lbs. of unsprung / rotational weight reduction). Also, have you already gone to a smaller crankshaft pulley? Thanks Chris~ Anthony

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 роки тому +1

      An ATI pulley is in my future, but I'm holding out for now so that I can still say my motor is completely stock when I finally hit that 10.99.

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 роки тому

      Thanks! I agree that's what I need to try and do instead. That and I need to get better at knowing where exactly I am on the track. Watching my footage I can see how bad I am at that. Seems I'm barely crossing the 1/8 mile mark when I start worrying about breaking out and start letting off if I'm already ahead.

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 роки тому +1

      If only I had a local track that actually held bracket racing events...and the money to go all the time if they did 😆 Only 1/4 mile tracks that regularly hold bracket races are all several hours away. So I'll just have to get my practice in the hard way during whatever events I can get to. I feel I'm definitely getting better with regular brackets, although spoiler alert, I broke out in the first round the next day here, the class index races are a bit tougher when you don't get to dial-in yourself. Although, another spoiler alert lol, I did a lot better in that the next day!
