In the SNES Version, in the castle of Isis at night, one of the cats revels himself as a demon from Baramos and you get a nice little message there. I don't know if that applies here. Also in the SNES Version, in the pyramid puzzle, the combination uses all 4 buttons i believe. Also, one NPC in Ashalam i believe in the SNES Version tells you that Ortega ignored the magic key because he simply forced the doors open with his manliness.
Yeah I just happened to go there to see if they were any invisible treasures and lo! A button! Then I remembered the children's song... and yeah I lived in those times too; I'm ready for whatever this game has to throw at me, like that area where you need to use the Bottomless Pot. 1:08 Oh, the Mummy Men must be what are now called Mummy Boys, so I guess it makes a lot more sense now. 3:17 Do an LP of that!
@jedisociety He's said it before, this is live commentary with clever editing. The audio and video tracks are separate, letting him cut out a battle without having to cut out his commentary.
About the trap/puzzle, the children's song refers to the sun. Which rises in the east and sets in the west. Hence the button on the right and left hand sides of the map, not the ones in the middle.
@shinrenx Ironize was intended to be used at the beginning of a fight(preferably boss battles) so you can notice an enemies patterns and therefore make better decisions on what skills to use for the fight.
I really don’t know if anyone commented on it… but I always cast ironize if I run into a mimic because it shields you from defeat and it makes them waste their MP in the process of casting it over and over. That is really the only use (and it’s a good one) I found for that spell.
HCBailly You should talk to the evil kitty inside Isis castle at night...interesting creepy dialog. Also the Queen of Isis is very "interesting" in the Japanese version...Since you told me not to elaborate I shall not :)
I thought the children's song is pretty self-explanatory. The small button opens the door. First to the east, then to the west. It only requires a bit of trial and error to figure out if you should push the inside buttons or outside buttons. At least in this game the guards acknowledge that you're stealing treasure. And yeah, definitely talk to the cats in Isis at night.
I can't begin to express just how nasty the Pyramid can be for someone with only modest RPG experience and no walkthrough or guide. The traps on the first floor drop you into a chamber where magic doesn't work, and there are especially tough monsters. If you open the wrong chests on the first floor, you'll almost certainly get at least one party member killed by the Man Eaters. Then trial and error to open the door on the 3rd floor means more battles. Definitely not easy!
@shinrenx It's best use is to get a bead on enemy attack patterns. You can't really stabilize with it because you can't move while it's in effect, but you can watch what the monsters do while you're impervious.
The children's song lyrics do say "first to the east, then to the west" so it's not completely useless. The only use I see for Ironize is to deplete a boss monster's MP if Stopspell doesn't work. But you'd probably run out of MP first! You're VERY brave in exploring the underground sections right now. Usually I come back quite a bit later...
@gregdrako Yeah the Golden Claw only affected you in the Pyramid in the GBC remake. Having an encounter every two steps was really annoying while trying to get out of there heh.
Even with the children's song, I still took so long to figure out the button "Puzzle" that I ended up setting up camp at Isis, training on infernus crabs, and also hunter flies that wandered over from the other side of the mountains near Assaram.
In the GBC version, the kids on the Isis castle actually tell you the order of which the buttons are pushed, and when you get the golden claw the pharaoh curses you, but i forgot if you still get into one step encounters on the world map while wearing the Golden Claw.
In the remake, the Golden Claw's curse is only active in the pyramid. This was most likely done because you have a bag that replaces Aliahan's storage system.
Is anyone else having trouble fastforwarding through youtube videos since the site-update a couple of days ago? I watched about half of this video and came back later to finish it and every time I jump ahead the timer changes but the video itself stays at the beginning. I can't jump to a specific place in the video. It's driving me nuts.
zelda was the most epic puzzle game ever, there was no rhyme or reason to bomb a particular square to reveal hidden treasure, psst, now that was REAL hidden treasure
Getting out of the Pyramid with the Golden Claw is no fun at all..a battle just about every step..and you will fight like hell for every step until you get out..and then you'd better cast Return or throw a Wing of the Wyvern in the air (if you're in the NES version)..I mean, damn, the Silver Harp was good for attracting enemies, but this..this is an enemy magnet turned up to max..damn, the Curse of the Pharaohs is strong.
im playing the gbc version and im at the basement of the pyramid and the stairs will not appear when I search my underfoot im on the same tile as hcbaily at 555 but I have not yet gotten the magic key does that effect the stair appearing? o well I don't need the golden calw anyway I was just gonna sell it for the gold
Could the reason it took you 7 years to finish this game have something to do with a destructive form of "wind power" that we will be witnessing very soon?
Remember kids: Dragon Quest III does not encourage the cool crime of theft! Yeah, that ony guy in Isis is really just a waste of time. At day he tells you he waits for the night and the other way 'round ~.~
uhh there is no real reason to leave a good weapon in the vault lol just keep using it.... why would you wanna use a less powerful item for your fighter?
@thebehemoth011 its hard to get out of there alive but golden claw will make fighter more powerfull or you can sell it if you have l i t t l e m o n e y . . .
I'm glad we have you to let us know how practically Worthless nearly EVERY Treasure chest is in that entire temple

And that Crazy Cat lady ALSO Has a Crazy Cat! Try talking to one of them at Night
@Guitarist500 The Golden Claw drastically increases your encounter rate. It's really only practical when you're level-grinding.
Or to sell for a nice 11200 Gold.
@@ChaoticNarrative it's not worth it. 11250 isn't that much. It increases your attack in a very big amount.
Yeah I just happened to go there to see if they were any invisible treasures and lo! A button! Then I remembered the children's song... and yeah I lived in those times too; I'm ready for whatever this game has to throw at me, like that area where you need to use the Bottomless Pot.

3:17 Do an LP of that!
Those Mummies called Horks who had like 60 or more HP and ignored formation! It was ridiculous!

Wow, we got tiny toons, 5th element and Happy Gilmore references all in one video. Quite the spread!
I really don’t know if anyone commented on it… but I always cast ironize if I run into a mimic because it shields you from defeat and it makes them waste their MP in the process of casting it over and over. That is really the only use (and it’s a good one) I found for that spell.
00:20 - You don't want to push that button. Party go down the hole...
HCBailly

Animaniacs = The best cartoon of my childhood!
That golden claw is the worst begginer's trap I've ever seen.
In the GBC version, the kids on the Isis castle actually tell you the order of which the buttons are pushed, and when you get the golden claw the pharaoh curses you, but i forgot if you still get into one step encounters on the world map while wearing the Golden Claw.

Wait, isn't that a Tiny Toon Adventures (and not Animaniacs) reference at 0:14?

[Skimpy Swimsuit] Taken
*burns eyes out with a match*
zelda was the most epic puzzle game ever, there was no rhyme or reason to bomb a particular square to reveal hidden treasure, psst, now that was REAL hidden treasure
It's not just the queen, cats are sacred in Egypt.
03:16-03:17 Speaking of Ultima, are you going to LP any of the Ultima games(hopefully U7)???
Almost thought he would say that the golden claw is cursed.
Cast....cast.....*mindblow*
in remake of this game I think golden claw curse only works inside of the pyramid, but I could be wrog.
HCBailly when are you going to LP 7th Saga? :/
I always just SOLD the Golden Claw and STACKED all my other party members with weapons and aemor
maybe the mummy men are tougher because the mummies were actual "mummies". :p
yea at night I think one of the cats is a monster disguised as a cat or something.
At 13:02 it looks like the priest is doing the chamber maid
I'd like to see Deceased Crab LP this game, because then he'd be The Crab With The Golden Claws.
*Akbar's Airship Emporium*
Totally not deathtraps.
im playing the gbc version and im at the basement of the pyramid and the stairs will not appear when I search my underfoot im on the same tile as hcbaily at 555 but I have not yet gotten the magic key does that effect the stair appearing? o well I don't need the golden calw anyway I was just gonna sell it for the gold
The fighting phase reminds of the game Earthbound(Mother), don't you?
I thought the swimsuit changed how whatever character was wearing it looked.
anyone notice the background music is louder in these walkthroughs? might just be me
Seven years? it must've been bad if it took long..It took me four years to finsh DQ VIII,but that's a headache for another time ^-^
Japanese translation? So they translated it to English, then back to Japanese?
I really can't tell anymore if you're doing post or live commentary.
Maybe you're a editing genius but i just don't know, HC
all my toons are lvl 15 here and im having the hardest time. something is up.
WHY are the guards asleep`?
IT'S A TARP!
Could the reason it took you 7 years to finish this game have something to do with a destructive form of "wind power" that we will be witnessing very soon?
maybe it want's to make a call.
@ebbhead1991 yes it was
@blackjack2win Oh No! Not a tarp!
Eh, 1500 gold is nothing, plus it's just a video game (and a very old Let's Play at that)! Still a neat strategy though.
swag!
Remember kids: Dragon Quest III does not encourage the cool crime of theft!
Yeah, that ony guy in Isis is really just a waste of time. At day he tells you he waits for the night and the other way 'round ~.~
elevator go down the hole

@and1521 So, its editing genius, then
@thebehemoth011
its hard to get out of there alive but golden claw will make fighter more powerfull or you can sell it if you have
l i t t l e m o n e y . . .
It is improvising not cheating. Haha.
6 views and 360p already? woot
Voice is painful to listen to
If you think that's painful, turn back now. This is tame by today's standards. Sorry that doesn't work for you.
