I'm so glad you said Christoph Waltz was one of your favorite performances. One of my all time favorite movies with some of the most iconic cinematography
A trick I learned many years ago, was before washing your jeans for the first time, turn them inside out and put them in the dryer for 45 minutes to an hour. I was told that this "bakes" the dye into the fabric and keeps them from fading quicker. All I know is that it seems to work for me.
Man, I love this channel. I recently had to start going back into an office after 4.5 years of working from home, and boy i swear i forgot how to dress haha. I've got so many great tips from here. Great channel!
Nearly 49 and a Navy Sports Jacket, Office Blue Shirt, Brown Brogues, nice watch and a pair of well fitting dark blue jeans have pretty much been my goto smart casual for nearly 15 years, I plan to continue for another 15+.
Hey Antonio I must thank you for this video. It has been my choice too .. Polo T shirt and Jeans. I am 70 + now. But I stick to this outfit. To go with high ankle chukka suede shoes of contrast to jeans color. But of course your suggestions and tips helped a lot in choosing the right combination. Thanks again.
Hey man, I could really use some advice. I recently lost my right leg, above the knee amputation. I am saving up for a prosthetic. I don't want to hide it, as I think it's better for it to be showing, rather than having to explain a strange gait all the time. How would you recommend dressing for this? I know it's a strange question. I lost my leg, doesn't mean I want to lose my style too.
I would cuff pants at the point where your future prosthetic starts. While it might look like half shorts half pants, I think with the prosthetic, it makes sense (pants also can get caught in prosthetics, I believe).
I have the perfect pair (for me) from Ralph Lauren. I might have paid a little more than I would for Normal jeans but they fit me well, they're a dark wash w/ matching dark stitching(instead of gold), and they fit over my cowboy boots perfectly.

I’m telling you, dark wash Goodfellow Blue Jeans (slim) from Target have been surprisingly the best jeans I’ve ever worn. Personally I feel they go well if I wanna dress up but keep it a little casual, and they have been super durable and haven’t really changed in color after rocking them for over a year. Keep in mind I only wear them a couple times a week if that, but still really solid all things considered. About $45 if I remember right, so IMHO very excellent for the price.
Can you make your top 20 movies, may it be because of the fashion, principles or charisma? I know movies can also help a man internally and externally. Love your content, Godbless you and your family.🇵🇭
Hello Antonio.... i been following your channel for years, now its my turn to ask you about bolo tie, whats the proper way to wear it and where and what occasion... thanks u
Nice bolo ties can actually be considered formal wear, but then you would need a tuxedo shirt that doesn't have a typical bow tie wing collar. They won't work very well with t-shirts or polo shirts or the other stuff that these fashion guys tell you is acceptable semi-formal wear that actually is NOT acceptable semi-formal wear, but any short-sleeve Western shirt can still go with a bolo tie as long as you fix the top button same as long-sleeve, but typically most people would say wear them with long-sleeve shirts and a Western sport jacket or suit.
I'm looking forward to getting shirts from Collars and Co. I like the look of the shirts, but they're usually out of the size I need. However, I have some polos from Spier and Mackay, which look similar to the portifino polo from Collars and Co.
When dressing for church or for going to an office I often wear dark jeans (blue or black) with roper boots polished to a high shine, a button down shirt, a sport coat, and a Stetson Open Road hat. So here’s the question, when dressing up cotton pants, including denim, should they pressed and creased or not? Personally, for a dressier setting, I prefer to wear pants that are pressed with a sharp crease. Others say no. I’m curious to know your thoughts.
My denim jeans and chinos get the wrinkles pressed (ironed) out, but I don't put fore & aft creases into informal trousers. In fact I rarely bother even with my normal suits until I get to black tie. In my opinion, that's like wearing a necktie with a polo shirt - sure it can be done, and don't let anyone mandate your personal style, but risks coming off as a little too try-hard. Again, all my opinion, and you are free to disagree. I just had to stop and tip my own Stetson Open Road in Silverbelly back at you. Have a great day!
I will like to know what type of clothes I have to wear as salesman. Because we know the impact of the first impression. Thank you! I'm from Argentina ❤ (Sorry for my English)😂😂

Like the video but looking for more selvage demin and maybe one day talk more in detail about it and if it worth the price. Bonus points for helping show where to get a good pair selvage or not
There's 8 million selvedge denim vids, but if you're trying to figure out which ones are "worth" the price, then none of them will likely suit you because they usually cost way more than you're likely to spend. Would you consider Unbranded worth $100 or more if they have too low of a rise? Would you consider Levi's worth the price if they are rigid but not as heavy weight and don't have creative striped piping? [I don't know how many selvedge vids he's already done, but I suspect he has at least one...]
Not entirely, because I was looking for the odd pair that were heavier weight than typical jeans now, but the prices drive one out of the market pretty quickly for many of the hipster brands that get all the attention.
You failed to mention that Collars & Co are 100% polyester. A true well dressed gentleman only wears natural fabrics, such as wool, cotton, silk and linen but NO POLYESTER
Collars and co are a good idea in theory. I bought 2 shirts and they fit great and are good for hot weather but the material is straight underarmour golf shirt. Even in navy blue it does not dress up at all. Wish they had a dressier fabric.
You mentioned burgundy what color shirts go good with burgundy chinos? I know black and possibly white but what other colors Burgundy is hard to pair anything with I find lol
burgundy typically pairs well with dark blue or true navy, or mid and charcoal grey. khaki can work and olive green, but mostly I would save green combos for the holidays, etc.
Personally, if your shirt is patterned in plaid or floral or something, leave it untucked. If it’s a solid color I’d say it could go either way as long as your belt looks good. If you’re wearing a jacket I’d say tuck regardless?
Do you have an opinion on grey denim? I picked up a pair of grey Levis 505 that I wear. Too casual or not? Personally I think not because they are a similar shade to my grey casual pants
@@Highland_Paddy I was referring to the context of the video where Antonio talks almost exclusively about dressing up dark blue or black denim. Everyone knows denim is casual. There's a reason I have four suits and a tuxedo in my closet
No, EVERYONE does NOT know that denim is casual, apparently, or people wouldn't wear it to weddings and job interviews and such for decades now already. But if you're such a style master already, then how do you not know whether grey denim is TOO casual without asking a guy who gives meh advice a third of the time and then saying that they AREN'T too casual in YOUR opinion, anyway? Hint: Again, THEY ARE.
@Highland_Paddy Depending on the style. If it's low contrast with a matching or darker stitching, without fading or rips. You can make jeans, smart casual, or even business casual. To add, I'm in the IT space. So, clothing options can range from field work to corporate office offices at the C-suite level.
@@georgejones5019 Yes, people wear all sorts of horrible clothing combinations now in professional settings and to weddings and such, but that doesn't make them correct just because nobody is pointing out why they're wrong in public and then vids like this supposedly reinforce their Fashion Status or something. Jeans don't have enough refined features and they are typically intentionally associated with Work Wear no matter how you slice it.
I so really like you talking about basic knowledge when it comes to fashion and style but I don’t like what you are showing us ,because it’s mostly outdated and not really up to date . It looks sometimes like the mens department in those old fashioned eighties catalogs (Otto ,Quelle ,Neckermann) we had here in Germany 😅
One point that wasn't covered was what color the visible stitching should be. Personally I'd say white stitching on a traditional indigo pair of jeans just looks wrong. Like they were made by someone who'd had jeans described to them but never seen them in person to know that the thread should be a yellow/gold.
I prefer matching stitching to the color of the jeans or one that's darker. High contrast stitching, especially the yellow/orange to blue is horrendous to dress up.
The working class man can't really afford the levi 501s or others costing 70 or 80 or more they are a bit of a con, because were talking about Denim a cheap material that DOESNT have a evening wear reputation, its always had a work man's image, for that money I would buy suite trousers.
I own only a couple pairs of jeans, I have gone months without wearing them. I work in a suit and tie six days a week. If I go out after work I just take off the tie. My day off if I'm out running errands it's usually khaki's and a button down.
They are fairly overrated pants for most situations. Most "working" men don't really need denim, either, but they are typically less expensive, blah, blah.
I wouldnt call you, Mr modesty exactly. BUT some of your advice is wisdom, I liked your body type video very applicable to me, I'd say, you do seem to advocate through the back door, Tailored clothing, & who but the chosen few, can afford that? Yours is the most...presentation concious videos ive seen yet, most are strictly about dating advice just scimming on dress sense, but you do both prioritising the clothes aspect.
My take is to just stop wearing jeans entirely -- UNLESS you are wearing blue jeans and t-shirt. Stop trying to "dress them up." Put on some chinos which fit like jeans and you'll look much sharper.
I would say the only way to dress up jeans is with knitwear and boots. Maybe a flannel button up or polo. Never wear jeans with sports jackets or button dress shirts. Definitely never wear a tie.
Im a firm believer that unless you are in a construction office and will be out on a site. Denim has no place in an office or ever being dressed up. At points of my life i have been guilty of trying to over dress jeans and wish i hadn't. Chino's are a more comfortable, casual, "dressier" way to go. Keep the Denim/jeans for work wear. As a guy that has wore jeans my whole life, they are NOT comfortable, yet they serve a purpose. Ps. Stop rolling your jeans, again it was and is a sign you cant afford to buy the right size or get them tailored, not a fashion statement!! I agree with you about the dryer, all my clothing including "work" clothes are hung dry. Thanks for the video as always i enjoyed it!! Cheers
@@Highland_Paddy of course im just grumpy and have never understood why people want to dress up and look like myself and others who beat the hell out of ourselves for work. But yet have pristine skin, perfect nails and hands that havent seen a physical labor. If some how i didnt notice any of the above the first handshake will tell all. Its painful to watch a boot review and hear them complain about speed hooks on the upper shaft because it takes a way form their style. Most boots are based from military or some kind of labour based job. Speed hooks are part of all that. Besides if they wear their pants properly no one would ever see the speed hooks. 🤷♂️ The whole selvage denim craze hurts my head as well. It isnt comfortable, they are paying far to much for a pair of pants that ultimately suck!! Denim only looks good when its worked in and has fresh dirt & oil rubbed into it and you shouldn't be wearing that anywhere but while you are working. Pre-Riped, pre-stained or looking new is just wrong on so many levels 🤣 Even a cheap pair of dress pants or Chino's feel a hell of a lot more comfortable. Not to mention look so much better when they actually fit you right. Like i said im grumpy and probably old before my time 🤣 in my late 40's. My opinion isnt worth much these days especially when it comes to fashion. I just hate paying over inflated prices for work clothing because people have decided its fashionable 🙄
Im a journeyman tradesperson and never wore jeans at the job site. My daily uniform is dark denim, rolled up, laced dress boots, shirt, tie, blazer. Classic look and always complimented. FYI I work as a civilian in a police department. Retired police officer.
Some Japanese denim is absolutely beautiful. It's made the way the fabric was first made and exhibits all the characteristics that first made the fabric so beloved. Unfortunately capitalism/the shareholder value movement has diminished the quality of denim for decades. Imagine what happens when all the major labels make slight economies every year for half a century in order to boost profits. You don't notice any difference from one year to the next but after literally decades of cost savings the fabric bears no resemblance to the original cloth. It's honestly just crap for the most part. All that said, very few denims can/should be matched with blazers etc or "dressed up". In all but a few very well executed cases it ends up looking tragic.
Yes, but you need to explain that proper chinos don't have big, garish patch pockets and typically look even more dressed up with pleats, whereas unpleated chinos and jeans are less distinguishable to people who might think they are colored denim or something. I'm not sure what TEXTURE the jeans have, except that they may vary in weight and the dye job may have faded in the wash more dramatically?
@@stevewodell6183 Some do and some don't. I've struggled to find Chinos that aren't constricting through the thigh and crotch or have butt space for a more athletic build.
In my opinion, jeans are for high schoolers or younger. If doing outdoor work a pair or 2 is fine but wearing jeans in public as a man signals laziness and conformity. It takes the same effort to put on some slacks or trousers that look way better.
*The opinion of Antonio here is terrible.* First, touting minstrels-no thanks. Actors are tantrum-tossing grown-ups who play make-believe. "Pretend I'm a pirate." Jeans are labor work pants. *A stylish man never wears jeans.* Jeans are not even quality casual clothing in the colors of blue, black, light blue, indigo. At best, one can wear these jeans casually: white and pastels, and summers only. Jeans say "I am still 14, in high school, in my mind." Antonio might as well push guys to wear Toughskins by Sears.
Jeans also come in various shades of khaki and brown, blacks and grays. That'd aside, slacks and jeans are both made of cotton. Just a different weave and stitching pattern. Strange elitist mind set.
@@georgejones5019 You: "Strange elitist mind set." Yes, elites are beyond the minds of plebeians. You: " in various shades of khaki" Dust color has various shades? Or is it that people who market things misuse words? Good luck!
@@johnp.johnson1541 Actually, there ARE various shades of khaki because better looking ones will be more a flat tan and then some other ones will have too much yellow. Dockers are usually better for consistent color than some competitors, and this is not counting "beige" or "oatmeal" or other natural shades. But then British Tan / Khaki, has more ochre in them so they are darker yellow but you won't typically find denim jeans in this color. I would still wear most of these with a sport jacket before dark jeans, though, because jeans will not have refined rear pockets with buttons and such things and usually have contrast stitching, etc.

Um, one is a more traditional Western look whereas the other is maybe a throwback Navy look, so I'll allow it.
I prefer matching stitching to the color of the jeans or one that's darker. High contrast stitching, especially the yellow/orange to blue is horrendous to dress up.
Bruh, it’s 100F with 80% HUMIDITY in Florida…..not wearing no damn jacket!! 😣
Have you tried madras or seersucker in the evenings at least?
I watch you a lot, you look like Sean O'pry at some angles a little bit.
Hemmed denim never looks right unless you find a chain stitch machine to finish the hem correctly
The working class man can't really afford the levi 501s or others costing 70 or 80 or more they are a bit of a con, because were talking about Denim a cheap material that DOESNT have a evening wear reputation, its always had a work man's image,
for that money I would buy suite trousers.
Morgan Freeman was nominated for Shawshank redemption😂
I own only a couple pairs of jeans, I have gone months without wearing them. I work in a suit and tie six days a week. If I go out after work I just take off the tie. My day off if I'm out running errands it's usually khaki's and a button down.
They are fairly overrated pants for most situations. Most "working" men don't really need denim, either, but they are typically less expensive, blah, blah.
To hell with Mark Cuban. I’m on Team O’Keefe.
Yeah, Cuban gets away with too much credit...
No no no Antonio, you got it wrong. The 1st rule of dressing up Jeans is to wear an Anson Belt from Anson Belts and Buckles

That polo is a pass for me it covers to much of the arms.
I would say the only way to dress up jeans is with knitwear and boots. Maybe a flannel button up or polo. Never wear jeans with sports jackets or button dress shirts. Definitely never wear a tie.
Either go full cowboy or you'll end up looking like my dad
Sure am not interested in spending 110+$ on a single shirt.
Then dont. Why focusing on one single point of the entire video?
Even EASIER WAY: BUY NICER PANTS.
Dutch:denim is voor arbeiders …
Cheers
Yep. But rolling jeans is a fashion statement for a couple reasons now: To show off the selvedge denim detail or to look more retro from the 50s.
[Oh, or show off their fashion boots, but that's usually with the selvedge denim, anyway.]
The whole selvage denim craze hurts my head as well. It isnt comfortable, they are paying far to much for a pair of pants that ultimately suck!!
Denim only looks good when its worked in and has fresh dirt & oil rubbed into it and you shouldn't be wearing that anywhere but while you are working. Pre-Riped, pre-stained or looking new is just wrong on so many levels 🤣
Even a cheap pair of dress pants or Chino's feel a hell of a lot more comfortable.
I don't like speed hooks at all for plenty of reasons.
Pretty much agree, but just as I said to the last guy, most "working" men don't actually NEED denim pants, anyway.
Skip the history no one cares .
If a man wears a tie then just wear slacks. Why bother with a tie if wearing jeans? It just looks goofy.
agree
We need to stop trying to dress up jeans. They are casual pants. Just buy some chinos and be done with it.
jeans have nice texture that is missing from chinos, and chinos really limit the kinds of shoes you can wear.
@@verygoodfreelancer chinos literally have the same fabric weave as jeans. I wear boots and shoes with chinos and it looks good.
@@verygoodfreelancer chinos literally have the same fabric weave as jeans. I wear boots and shoes with chinos and it looks good.
It takes the same effort to put on some slacks or trousers that look way better.
agree
Step 1: don't.
*The opinion of Antonio here is terrible.*
First, touting minstrels-no thanks. Actors are tantrum-tossing grown-ups who play make-believe. "Pretend I'm a pirate."
Jeans are labor work pants. *A stylish man never wears jeans.*
Jeans are not even quality casual clothing in the colors of blue, black, light blue, indigo.
At best, one can wear these jeans casually: white and pastels, and summers only.
Jeans say "I am still 14, in high school, in my mind."
Antonio might as well push guys to wear Toughskins by Sears.
Pretty much. But he will also tell you which sport jacket goes best with your Harley ride to the canyon.
Jeans also come in various shades of khaki and brown, blacks and grays.
That'd aside, slacks and jeans are both made of cotton. Just a different weave and stitching pattern.
Strange elitist mind set.
@@georgejones5019 You: "Strange elitist mind set."
Yes, elites are beyond the minds of plebeians.
You: " in various shades of khaki"
Dust color has various shades? Or is it that people who market things misuse words?
Good luck!
@@johnp.johnson1541 pretentious. Cute.
