I mean, who in the right mind would do this to some kid in college? he made a simple mistake and you're gonna charge him hundreds of dollars for it, when you know he barely has enough money to buy food for himself. if I was a locksmith that kid would have gotten it for free.
@@bubblebass8498 ...I mean you gotta make a living somehow right? BUT, that being said? That guy seems like a legit scam artist. Charging that much to jimmy a car door open is fucking highway robbery. It probably took him 15 minutes and 1/10th of that money in cost of tools to do that. Pretty scummy
I agree with this sentiment 110%. I have called people to unlock my car before. It cost me $50 at most or $0 if it was roadside assistance with my insurance company.
I love these weird backstories to why someone has a guitar. It really shows the bond between musical artist and instrument. Also joined guitar super system finally.
i got the SE 245, i love it, talking about the middle position, one of my favorite settings, roll the tone knob on the bridge pickup back a little, around 6-7, and the volume of the neck pickup back to around 8. lovely for chords
I picked up an SE245, too. Not the cheaper one if that makes a difference. The pickups in it absolutely scream! I was very surprised, it's a joy to play, too
A Korean one from the WMI factory? Aye, mine too. I think mine is an earlier one around about then too. They really do handle everything, great guitar for the money :D
I love this story Tyler... I'm sure you get lots of jealous comments on youtube about the amazing guitars you can play every day, but this shows that you had to earn your way and do the hard yards like most of the rest of us. You earned your success bro!
You can buy the highest quality guitar money can buy, if you há é any good memories of your cheapo first 6-string, you won't be able to part ways with it.
I've really grown to appreciate your channel and this video is no exception. I also have a guitar that I care about that much, the story of how I got it isn't like that but I'd never part with it and rarely let anyone else play it.
What a great memory. Yeah, it sucked that you were literally a victim of highway robbery, but how that life experience united you with that gem PRS was cool. I also loved the bump and scratch follow up too. Every scar has a story. Thanks!
Man, you are such a better player than you let on in your usual videos. I mean, your playing is great in those too, but I feel like this video gives a more candid look into who you are as a player. Much respect!
Oh my god why are there so many haters already. Tyler that guitar is amazing just as you are and the story is great as well, it's surely inspiring to us young guitarists. Thank you so much for what you do.
PRS custom 24's have this really cool thing with the switch in the middle and the coils split. You get this really clean, almost acoustic sound. And I specifically say custom 24's because of how close to the bridge the neck pickup is
I have been playing since 11 years old..1973 I have owned many guitars down sized a lot when I stopped playing Live because of illness gave most of my stuff to my son and donated to a Church ..I know how you feel about a certain guitar I have 7 now from the 70's and 80's but my main baby is a 1999 Kramer FR422 Taxi Yellow..it sure is and always will be..
I name all my guitars (only have 3 atm) but the one i love the most is my electric, my grandpa and i straight up made it based on a strat, with the whole 5 channel, celluloid pickguard, and unnecessary whammy bar (because i thought it looked cool but never use it), glossy black, and weighs an absolute ton. but i love it and named it Shayla. She was with me my first ever gig and she never stays home on gig night.
Gosh Tyler, what a gorgeous little thing there at 7:20. All those great chords...did you just make that up because that really is nice. I got curious about your guitar because of the obvious beauty throughout it so I window shopped. The PRS DGT in faded whale blue is soooo very splendid. Splendid lol. it's 3,000 but wow, I may have a new monthly bill for awhile
I worked a few years for Sprint from 2012-2015. Your timeline of phones is off, touch screen smartphones with data were definitely a thing and common then. The flip phone, limited use data era was more like 2005-2009. Also the word is "exorbitant", not "absorbitant' (sic)
Tyler grew up with a family that had some money. Not knocking the guy, just little bit of street smarts to know that the locksmith ripped him off and breaking a window is cheaper than a locksmith.
I totally get your story! I'm form Slovenia (europe) and we were just kids around 13 years old, already fuckin' into Satchie, Vai, Petrucci, etc., anyways we got realy drunk, cause thse were the days when we could get alcholol no matter the age here in former yougoslavia states, and we were constantly going into that one store in Ljubljana, where the shop owner was really old, at least to us at that time, and we where looking at those ibanez rg550's, anyway, one day we got tottaly wasted at the middle of the day, it was a summer hot day, drinking vine and smoking joints and totally wasted went there at that store and the store guy just said like " you're totally waisted get out of here, we weren't mean or anything just wasted as fuck and totaly into vibes that he wasn't, like country, here we have even more hard core music that our sort of musicians are like wtf, three chords and stupid lyrics, like sun, and flowers and cows and girl doing laundry, like alps or polka kinda vibes, anyways, we were kicked out, but at the end of the day that friend managed to get one of the ibanez gutars at disccount, but we were tottaly angry why didn't he gave us a poster of john petrucci, It was a rebbelious thing, anyways, thanks for that story, it really took me to me in the 90's somehow. Sorry for a long weirdest comment :D
Short version: he had to sell his only guitar because he locked his keys in his car and employed the world's most expensive locksmith so needed another one and bought this one I mean, even if you snappy it up some it's no Lucille anecdote
Oh man a similar locked-out scenario happened to me just around a month ago. Got locked out of my apartment by accident after I went out to the gym. Felt like a fucking moron and wasted money just to get it open.
It wasn't roadside assistance it was just a locksmith.....if he had roadside assistance he wouldn't have ended up getting fucked in the ass......there's the moral to this story.
My 94 ESP KH2 came from tragedy as well...my IDIOT friend stole and then CRASHED my beautiful North Carolina scored triple black 400hp 93 Mustang GT 5 liter. My BABY...totalled :( Another complete IDIOT friend was selling the ESP....I had my insurance check, and I got that ESP....for $500!!!! Whoop whoop. Still got it...plays phenomenal. I miss that car.
We're waiting for "The Story of my Hot Wife"
Mist R This story is embedded in a podcast episode. 🙂
Which prs is that
Sc 245
That's on a different website...
The reason why he hasn’t done that is because it would be too short he has a hot wife because guitar
cheaper to break the window and get in and drive lol
EXACTLY what I was thinking. Just us muricans being muricans haha.
I mean, who in the right mind would do this to some kid in college? he made a simple mistake and you're gonna charge him hundreds of dollars for it, when you know he barely has enough money to buy food for himself. if I was a locksmith that kid would have gotten it for free.

Kameron Gard But he would have never gotten the PRS D:

Thinking about it replacing the window's cheaper
yea,IN LA LA LAND!!!
Lol Yh also kinda hard to believe that going $800 in debt made you go and buy a $3000 Guitar 😂
I love these weird backstories to why someone has a guitar. It really shows the bond between musical artist and instrument. Also joined guitar super system finally.
Here's a future hint..... For $700 or $800 break the window!

yeah, i got one from before the cheaper one was introduced, must be the 2013 or'12 model.
it kinda does everything

Man all this hate and he hasn’t even been doing this long. Great job Tyler keep up the good work

My favorite electric guitar , bought in 1997 , Ibanez SV470 SOL
My favorite acoustic guitar , bought in 2015 , Martinez MCG 80C CE
Meanwhile me with my $300 epiphone...
TJ I was in that position too man. Gotta get a job and buy something that feels and plays a lot nicer
I love my $300 epi. There is nothing wrong with having a cheap guitar. Its the skills that matter - you cant just buy that.
el_pedro The price indeed doesn't matter, but after purchasing myself a nice Fender, playing the Epiphone just felt horrible
Meanwhile, my $150 squier and I

The jazz chords !!! I melted .... such good music
What a great memory. Yeah, it sucked that you were literally a victim of highway robbery, but how that life experience united you with that gem PRS was cool. I also loved the bump and scratch follow up too. Every scar has a story. Thanks!
I want a girlfriend who'd treat me like Tyler treats his PRS SC. Except the shredding part.

I love this story
Lots of people asking "why didnt he smash the window?" And the response is he would have never gotten that PRS if he did!!
"Before iPhones were really a thing" ... in 2012 😂
What’s the context of this interview? I’d love to sit and listen to his story if he ever does this again.
I’d sell my clothes before I’d sell my guitar.
Just noticed the 300k are pretty close.... Congrats!
I was pretty surprised by this video. So much of what you said was on the money. Just goes to show how special a lump of wood and some metal can be.
"Pizza rolls...which are better than bagel bites."
