- It’s finally time to start transforming this dining room!
The first project we need to tackle is painting the room and I’m currently obsessed with the look of Limewash paint. I’ve done it once before and it turned out amazing… but things didn’t go quite as smoothly this time around…

Your attention to the prep is amazing. It’s so important to the outcome and you prove that with every project!
The lines where the cabinets and wall meet were SO CLEAN! I’ll have to do a close up in the next video… I was very proud haha
What an excellent example of what true and honest processes are supposed to be like. You get to the point of Mistake or Dissatisfaction/Disappointment and then you feel your way into the Correction. What an amazing result! ☀️
When I replaced my small bathroom drywall with purple drywall, I had to put 4 coats of the most expensive KILZ primer over it. I painted the room a bluish gray which would’ve been compatible but I was so puritan about the whole thing. It’s just best to have that perfect white surface to start with than to be disappointed later. Thanks for your videos. They get my juices going when I don’t feel like doing anything. You don’t even bitch and moan the whole time like I do. Or at least not while the camera is on. 😄
Oh believe me- there’s plenty of footage that ends up on the cutting room floor of me getting frustrated. We try to keep it family-friendly here… 🤣🤣
Wow…I wasn’t feeling it with the first applications but I am loving the finished wall. It’s soft and delicate, earthy and organic
So worth the pain and patience! Three coats in I was like ok ok I’m not liking this…but man was it ever worth the wait. Thank you for not cutting the struggles. That is why we do it ourselves no one else has the same vision in their head. And the clip of you repeating “trust the process” “trust the process” priceless! TFS
Thank you so much! I thought about cutting some of it out, but the process is kind of the point. Not everything goes perfectly the first time- it’s about not giving up! ❤️💪🏻
“Trust the process and your gut!” Great job!❤
Always trust the process!! ❤️
Whew! Love the kiss of warmth it brings to the area.
I am glad you showed the frustration and trial and error!
Came together beautifully 😍
I applaud your persistence! The color definitely makes the space feel larger. I'm assuming you have an idea for the A/C cabinet but wanted to share something I recently saw in a FB post. Someone took a tall vintage secretary, removed the glass and back, added caning on the doors. The upper portion with doors concealed the A/C unit and the lower portion was used for bar accessories and storage. Obviously this would require sourcing a piece with dimensions that would fit your space but I thought of you when I saw the image.
😅😅😅❤❤❤LOOKING PERFECT!!!!!
You remind me of Lone fox when he made his rental apartment so beautiful the owner told him not to change anything. When he moved out he loved it so much ....youre doing a great job.👍👍
Stunning. Like the finished look. Blends well with the kitchen. Kudos.
I love your channel so much!! Everything about it! You're fun to watch, you're perfectly groomed, you're charming, you're relatable and I love how well you explain what you're doing. You're dining room looks great, you're patience really paid off. How did you learn to do all this? You're a master carpenter, a professional painter, an amazing seamstress (seam-sir? seamster?), a chef/baker, an interior designer and you have impeccably good taste! Whew. Oh, I forgot one, a talented videographer. I love your channel! 😊
Your stick-to-it-ness has made all the difference in your dining area! The look is very open and classy, bringing all the adjoining areas together, culminating in their being MORE than the sum of their parts. And THAT’S the best result.
It turned out so great!! I had never heard of the cloud technique so even though it did work in this case I am glad to have learned something 😊
It definitely worked so well in my bedroom, but I was using a different companies Limewash so… 🤷🏼♂️
Love love love your channel and what you're doing! Also,I love all that you have to say.
I appreciate that!
Could totally feel the stress and anxiety from here but it all worked out beautifully! I think the red paper protecting your shelves, floor and cupboard may have contributed to the paint looking even more pink. I’m so happy for you that it worked out. It’s looking great and I’m excited to see more ❤
There's something soothing about this channel.
Thank you got including everything in your video. This is so helpful for anyone who is feeling frustrated when plan go awry! Beautiful job ❤❤❤
I really like the length of your videos, how much you speak, and all the camera angles you use along with the usage of music while you speak. Continue to do you. Some people have shortening attention spans, because of rampant short form content nowadays, and it shows. I have ADHD and I can focus without issue throughout your entire video. On another note, your choice to use both was clever and took me by surprise. The first coat of el matador made the glass fixtures look like they were floating, as I feared. You made a great point about undertones, so mixing solved both of your issues; it turned out great! I'm looking forward to the rest of it. :)
I really appreciate this post! Thank you. I’m pretty good about taking criticism on the chin, so it doesn’t bother me a lot- I just don’t want my videos to be tutorials. (There are plenty of those already on YT and I’m not a professional who should be teaching people haha) The point of the channel is to follow my journey through design and unfortunately that’s going to include me talking about it. 🤷🏼♂️
I really enjoy hearing from all of you in the community and seeing your thoughts and personalities- so I try to share to share a bit of me with each video as well. That’s the goal at least. I’m constantly learning and growing.
Again, that’s really kind of you. Thank you! ❤️
Went through this when sponging was the "thing". Woke up & cried because it looked like excrement on my wall
Finally lightened the color & added BARELY noticeable hints of gold & viola, THANK GOODNESS the 4 days of layering worked out
LOVE your results! Will be using some of your ideas as I'll be moving soon & now know how to use peel and stick and keep my security deposit 😅
LOVE that! I definitely woke up the first morning and thought it looked like I had mildew all over my walls… 🤣 It’s about not giving up and switching up until it works for you! ❤️
Wow. All I was thinking when you were applying the wash was "Wax on, wax off!" The results look amazing. Thank goodness you have the arm strength to make it through such a physically demanding process.
It’s definitely a workout! 🤣
Wow! It turned out beautiful, was I worried? Yep. Also you tapped over your outlet before painting, great idea because I always hit one when I’m painting😅
❤I really think it turned out beautiful! It really lightened up the space and brought all of the colors together nicely! I’m really liking the texture in the paint. Just gorgeous!❤
I am really enjoying your content so much. Creative people are my favorite 😍 Thanks so much for the inspiration
Thanks for watching! Means a lot ❤️
As I’m watching and looking, your gray tone shadow you were casting was creating a really pretty organic almost marbleized look on the wall similar to the marble color ya chose ❤for your countertops. I totally would have mixed grey in there that has more of a green undertone. Also, i have used old sweat socks on my hand and moved the lime in soft circular motions fading your edges out. It creates super soft muted highs and lows. I miss the suede paint that Sherwin Williams used to sell that used cross hatching technique that created a soft buttery suede wall. Oh, how i wish they’d bring it back ☹️.
I don't understand what you're doing and tbh I don't even like it, but I Love your commitment to reach your goal and deliver what you have in mind. Great spirit.
Bro does a great job with the prep work. That's the hardest but most important part of a good 🎨 job 👍🏿
Prep is SO important!
Looks good!!!!!
It's lovely...
I love it!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤
I love watching your videos!
Sweet!!! I love it ❣️
the colour looks great
Looks great
Watching you lime wash wore me out! That is a ton of work.
Amazing
beautiful 🎉
I know how frustrated you were but what a payout! The apt looks brighter and so much bigger somehow- it’s really a great design idea. The wall really pops against the green cabinets- great job! 🎉🎉🎉
👍🥰
Yayyy!!! You picked my picks 🎉
I think I said La Conchita on top but the El Matador on top was BEST
Very peachy
Great job. It turned out great. Lots of hard work. ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
I would definitely get rid of the
p🍿pcorn ceiling, otherwise the entire apartment looks amazingggg 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I so love your talent and vision!!!
Would you be open to posting the paints & materials used - I just love love the look!!! Is that brush specifically for lime washing?
Great prep work. i have considered lime wash before myself. Never pulled the trigger it feels almost too faux finished and something that will be out in a few years. I also don't think it goes with my style. But good for you for trying it.
Well, it looks alright but I really much preferred the dramatic black it was originally. The black really made the mirror and glass light fixtures pop out and now they seem kinda lost.
Congrats on an outcome that you love. The wall goes with the gold tones of your fixtures and hardware. Did you consider painting the wall section of wall under the AC cabinet? The white square under the dark cabinet seems out of context to me, particularly since you did the kitchen wall in the warmer color.
I think you should have stuck with the lighter color only. I believe the limewash paint creates the look you want each layer.............with the one color :)
It looks wonderful next to the kitchen. The color was the right choice. I’m sure you’ll have to do in the dining room, so what’s next?
I still think you should’ve done wallpaper 🎉
Can I please know where do you get your shirts from? They're like the perfect T-Shirt.
Good question! Most of my work t-shirts are Uniqlo! Affordable, good quality, and fit so well
Love the end result. Quick question. Why are there blue tape markings on the floor? :-)
Haha those are tripod markings for future videos! Don’t tell.. 🤫🤫🤫
@@DesigningTheDream89 Secret is safe with me. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing.
I hate it 😣 but its maybe just not for me. I love the kitchen so much
That paint treatment took ten years off your dining room. Maybe twenty.
Impressive as always!
Sorry, idk why I’m just focused on your face, lol. Seriously, the more i see your video the more i see chris evans in your face. 😍
Haha I’ve gotten that a lot! I’ll take the compliment!
@@DesigningTheDream89Anyway I already following and DM you on Instagram too. 😝
Can anyone tell me why I'm subscribed to this channel for all notification alerts, and I am not receiving any notifications? I'm just wondering what I need to do to fix this. TIA
Why. But why? Are you not doing the panel over the glass door? Not doing that brings to much contrast to the AC box. Thank you.
I played back at 2x speed and it was still a little long, consider editing especially the repetition. Good vid, just too time consuming to watch. Came out very well.
When you are happy, STOP.
I was afraid it would turn out like an ugly Lone Fox project. Hot mess avoided, thank goodness!
More butt shots please, requesting for a friend…😂
This looks like venetian plaster. A very time consuming application. But with this process you get almost the same result without it being so labor intensive.
I am an architect trying to learn interiors, they are two very different things, although our basic thought processes are exactly the same and we speak the same lingo. They say that too many trends are extremely out of context. Example being: Living in a NYC loft and design farmhouse, with barn doors, chicken wire cabinet fronts, these Belfast sinks were never in the states, etc. They hey have a strong and valid point. That is a big conflict. It looks stupid and is so overdone, so they will be dated fads fast.
I am guessing that you live in a suburban condo complex. A tuscan kitchen would be horrendous.
This is subtle and you did not do your entire place with lime wash, it is limited to that area. From what little I can see you are mitigating the the cookie cutter look of every other unit and giving some personality to this place. Technically out of place but not a blatant mistake, like venetian plaster would be. Let's forget about limewash with popcorn ceilings.
I like it, it works to add depth to that wall as much as the mirror does.. This will age well, in ten years it will not look like vertical slates on sliding glass doors, or an misplaced and jewel tone accent walls.
????
I like your channel. However so much talking. It’s much better when you’re showing us with voice over. Your space looked great.
I'm sure, you, mean " ...looks great. "
❤❤❤
