I always thought she was someone he may or may not have met but couldn't remember. It was nearly 20 years ago according to her. If she came to him and said, "You had a 'liaison' with me back in 2006 and I'm going to tell the press every detail, unless you pay me $130,000. I'll ruin your chance of being President if you don't pay." Judging by what she has done since, I wouldn't be at all surprised. He maybe thought it safer to shut her up and tell her to go away but she clearly never intended to.

It's not a clerical error it's a conspiracy. There are handwritten notes by Trump's CFO, who is currently in prison detailing the conspiracy Trump created to pay back Michael Cohen double his actual invoices. Trump approved more to cover Cohen for the taxes and a $50k bonus for a job well done for keeping the story quiet so it wouldn't come out before the election.
