I can give some clearity to this question. When news paper is made the fibers of the paper is oriented in one plane. If you try to tear it in one way you get straight lines. If you try to tear it 90* against the fiber the tare naturaly turnes so that it can continue along the natural lines in the paper.
This is for news papers. I dont know if it works the same with printer paper.

The paper is dried because its water is adsorbed by these silical gel crystal . so we say adsorbtion has taken place on the surface of silica gel

You can buy it in bulk in most convinient stores. It is sold as crystal kitty litter. Looks like iregualry shaped white crystals. The bag should say "silica gel" on it.

Wow i didn't know Silica was this effective.I only use it for the closet, wardrobe and shoe compartments.
