another reason for 1.7 being a key version in Minecraft history is the amount of mods it got and all those modded let's plays on 1.7.10 I got Minecraft when 1.9 came out, but the next day I have learnt how to install mods and switched to 1.7.10 and those memories hold a special place in my heart.
The OG Hunger Games map is something i will never forget so many memories , you also should of added the second hunger games map (the city one) also as nostalgic as the first one. Anyways great video.
Mannn, wheres stampy at? I feel like his console map is pretty damn influential, as minecraft even put his house in one of the tutorial worlds on console edition
I remember back in 2013 a mod called "The Legend of Notch: Reincarnation". Back in the old days, this adventure-type of mod was pretty solid. It turned Minecraft into a whole story-driven game with RPG mechanics and leveling. But the story was very nice, for the old times. At the end you fought Notch who got corrupted by Herobrine. Took me 8 to 10 Hours to finish because of doing side quests. It was pretty difficult too. Nowadays it's just nostalgia.
Genuinely love the super hostile map series and it holds a special place in my past. Also as someone who's followed vech's channel for years, my favorite things were his super hostile playthroughs. While yes he knows all the surprises and secrets it's extremely interesting to hear his dev thoughts and why/how he did some of the things he did. He really has an eye for map development and really knows how to get players to interact with what he made and uses a lot of irl game development tricks to guide players.
mashup packs used to go so hard, miss those good old times. btw i used to watch a ton of preston's videos (and some other people's) on maps like the ones youve shown in this series, so seeing them again *really* takes me back. thanks a lot
This kinda reminds me of a lost Minecraft video that I remember of where this person was going through his world, and suddenly they came across a chunk error where completely different terrain was generating compared to the one they were coming from. The significance of this video was as they approached, they could see blocks that do not naturally spawn in that version. When they went into the chunks, having to climb up a shear cliff since the generation made the ground suddenly higher than theirs, they found a partial player base that was cut where the chunks errored. They found things like a storage room, parts of the mine that poked in and out of the chunk border, and even unfinished projects like something that was going to be done with a small lava pool in glass hanging above the ground below. The base iirc was built into a cliff if you looked at it from the chunks it came from, not the ones the player came from. I want to say this video came out before Minecraft had multiplayer, like right before, and I think the rumor about the bug was this was actually another players world that was put into this guys world due to a bug in the game when multiplayer was still internally worked on. I've tried my best to find this video before and I've come up dry. Could be a cool video idea to find forgotten Minecraft media like this or something like the original reveal of the enderman.
A lot of people ask me about this. I never played pocket edition, but I’d love to talk about its history and effects on the game. just would need a lot of research for me to learn more about it first!
I remember there was a map called Race For Wool. I follow Ethoslab and he did videos on the map a number of times, and then just stopped. Hey, maybe you could get an interview with Vechs.
I honestly don't know if anyone remembers this map, but a map called "DeepOcean City" is probably the most nastalgic map for me, it was a map of a small city on an island and I remember having lots of fun on it with my brother when we were younger, plus it was one of the only few maps I could get on my mobile minecraft, since my minecraft was pirated at the time lol, but yeah, great memories!
I thought with the popularity of Herobrine's Mansion way back in the day that everyone knew Hypixel was just a dude who made awesome maps. Kinda funny to realize that this community is big enough that people just didn't know about that. It's definitely a map I have vivid memories playing as a kid since i was a bit slow and it took me like 3 months to get the map up and running on my computer, but it was an awesome time and really to my memory the first huge command block map.
For anyone who doesn't know, QMagnet also made an EXCEEDINGLY useful map for resource pack artists, the "Texture Pack Test Map" which was a nice facility where you could see literally EVERYTHING in the game. It's just nice if you want to quickly take a look at this new resource pack you downloaded, or you're making one yourself It isn't just a bunch of blocks clumped together, is legitimately built like a museum of sorts for everything in Minecraft, down to mobs, particles, armors, and even sound effects. It's nice when you don't have to try to remember if you textured that block or not and look it up in the creative menu, you just see it sticking out like a sore thumb Of course, the debug map that you can find in modern versions of the game at least has the blocks covered, but not mobs or particles ;)
LMAO omfg the orphanage!!! that map is my childhood I remember back when it was released doing a video and freaking out. Good Times. It's disappointing there haven't been any innovations in the map-making community that I have seen or heard of recently.
I can't believe you didn't mention that The Walls was one of the three minigames featured in Episode 8 of Minecraft Story Mode Season One. (The others being Spleef and a race map, with Skyblock and a Herobrine's Mansion-ish murder mystery in episodes 5 and 6, respectively.) That's how iconic it was back in 2016.
8:42 I know I´m late but i wanted to point out that the Halloween mash-up pack was not one of the last packs released for legacy edition. Infact it was one of the first and legacy edition wasn´t discontinued until 2019 with many other mash-up packs being created in It´s lifetime like the Adventure Time and Pirates of the Carribean packs.
i remember the herobrine's 51 area horror map, to me a brazilian who saw some minecraft youtubers in like 2013/2014, There weren't many horror maps gameplays, the most famous are one of the Orphanage and this 51 Area map
I remember watching sky does minecraft play The Oprhanage, he was my go to minecraft youtuber before, well, you all know. So nostalgic. And the walls? My god what can I say, I watched so many let’s plays of it
Man, I remember going through adventure maps before they added books and quills even, and you had to get lore dumping and things on text docs added with the maps. xD Command blocks were a godsend for adventure map makers.
I remember a couple maps that was popular at the time called Paladin's Quest (ep.1 & 2) even being played by the Yogscast in their heyday. It being one of Noxcrew's earlier stuff it had a lot of interesting stuff in it, like cutscenes found in password locked zip files, where the passwords would be on signs throughout the map. Sadly it I haven't been able to find the map downloads in awhile, with the official download page having been taken down and Noxcrew not having it posted on their maps page. I remembered getting my hands on ep. 2 a couple of years ago and it being a lot of fun, but sadly I can't remember the site I got it from. Oh well, half the fun in playing older maps is finding working downloads for them.
The OG survival hunger games map is so good, actual survival and hunger These days most if not all servers have diamond gear and stacks of food in every chest, many even with kits purchaseable to get an advantage Exploring a ruin with traps and pits finding only an apple and 4 arrows is amazing
One Adventure Map i remember, well, i forgot the name, but it was one of those super early ones that had no command blocks or anything, because that stuff didn't exist yet. The riddles were super basic (like a redstone puzzle and a glass maze) but still, that map is super iconic to me.
When i was a kid i used to watch series from a portal like map called *its better together*, it was a fun coop map and i found it verry interesting and cool at the time wich i still do to this days.
Does anybody remember an old Minecraft server where one person was invisible and had to kill every other player before they killed them? I remember it vividly because you used to also require opening a browser tab of the website and it would have a prerecorded commentary track playing over every match.
If you ever make a part 3 you might want to include kiershar's map. He's one of the og tech youtubers who invented stuff like mob farms and tnt cannons and he famously trapped his map before releasing it to the public. Little old me fell for quite a few of those traps back in the day lol.
We can't forget world in a jar and Sethbling's other survival map which was all of the youtubers' skins floating in the void made of different minecraft materials. Oh also Ant farm!!!
The map that's probably most missed here but, I think most amazing for me is.... the Rat Boy Genius Dreams/Starship Genius/The Flood maps from Ratboygenius. They're remarkable.
incase you make a part 2, i would gladly suggest these worlds: note: some arent as old as others, but are certainly nostalgic to me 1. Stampy's Lovely World 2. Greek Mythology (MashUp) 3. Super Mario (MashUp) 4. Festive (MashUp) 5. Chinese Mythology (MashUp) 6. PopularMMOS Challenge Games Arena just choose 1 or 2 if thats too many i hope other people agree that these are pretty nostalgic, since they are to me at least
Im gonna absolutely be called on BS, but I knew the owner of MCPVP, hclewk, irl when I was around 12 to 14. MCPVP being brought up was like a flashbang to my memory holy shit.
I remember playing this one map meant to be a recreation of Super Mario Galaxy ages ago. It was sorta ported to Pocket Edition, although broken. Wonder if it was an originally Java map
I'm surprised Cubeception wasn't mentioned, I remember it as the best storie told in a minecraft adventure map and I thought it was know more, maybe it only had a small fandom, dont know
I watched so much super hostile stuff that I even tried to make my own map. of course, me being like 10 or 11, I didn’t know how to do it and was just going block by block before I gave up after a few days lmao. I’m pretty sure I’ve still got a video of me showing it off. This was during my time when I tried to become a UA-camr but I never really got anywhere lmao
❗be sure to check out Raccoon Den, the latest and greatest lifesteal PVP server! www.planetminecraft.com/server/raccoonden/
Did The Orphanage inspire the design of the vanilla woodland mansions? That's what the building looks like to me.

I got Minecraft when 1.9 came out, but the next day I have learnt how to install mods and switched to 1.7.10 and those memories hold a special place in my heart.
1.7 is literaly the version where Minecraft got ruined lol new players would never understand it.
@@Kirage If it ruined Minecraft, how do I never hear about it being a bad update? Are you thinking about 1.9?
It's a similar story for me, I started playing in 1.13 but most of my MC memories come from modded 1.12.2
It's either 1.7 or beta 1.7 Kirage is referring to, so either they were mad at the update that changed world gen or that pistons were added XD
@@Skellitor301_VA but beta 1.7 terrain was actually good. If he was talking about bad terrain gen, I feel like he would've said beta 1.8.

Religious beliefs led to abuse, and I believe Bethany was disowned by her family (could be wrong...), and the family kind of fell apart.
Star Wars Adventure by Hypixel was also very popular at the time it was released.
