My Polish Grandmother, a WW2 Prisoner of War who came to America and spoke English but certainly not perfectly, used to watch him every day, every episode, she loved him, thought he was the best. I grew up watching him. He used to love doing "Jullllllieeene.... Jullineeeenee" while chopping lol.
5:12 When Martin Yan is tasting the soup, a background sound appeared in Cantonese, asking a possibly kitchen staff to take the phone call, Martin Yan immediately replied in Cantonese thay guy wasn't here!
for the melon bowl soup i hardly believe the meat has any flavor in it. He never marinaded them or done anything for flavoring other than putting them in stock.
I"m always amazed at how excited Yan is about what he loves.
Grew up watching him, enjoyed every moment.
Well this covered two of my favorite things: food and history. Thanks.

I still remember the first time I tried to cut mango like this was when I watched his show on TV, this video sents me back to my childhood :).
AGH!! The intro song is so badass!!
Just like the song about New York - "If You can make it there, You can make it anywhere. If Yan can cook, So can You! 再见!"
Sakurazaki Naoki well said! I like the WWF picture!
LOL, that dude sounds like a goodfella. Got that NY accent big time.
Who else here in 2020 looking for new stuff to cook while in coronavirus quarantine?
Definitely, the best chef in the world.

I'm from Brooklyn,NY and I will visit chinatown every once in a while to do some exploring
His knife skills are amazing.

San Francisco has the best China town AND Chinese food ..
Yes I’m prejudiced ..
mr yan and alton brown are my two flavorite cheifs

This MAY be late, but I don't think marinating meat is OK if you're doing soup.
not really left overs but random pieces mixed together
chop suey means left overs......"We serve left overs"......
I'm a little scared of the dressing he put on the melon
He pronounces porcupine better than me...
I'm hungry
Does this guy use a cleaver for everything? XD
