    The connectors broke because you have to push the connector IN first and hold and then pull the clip - otherwise, they will break. FYI

    So why didn't you change the plugs as well my wife has a EOS and it was misfiring on all 4 cylinders I just changed the coil packs and plugs runs perfect now and spark plug gap is essential always check the gap even if the auto parts store say they come pre gapped check the gap anyway! Good video 👍

      I had just put new plugs in a week of two before when I was still chasing the problem. I also replaced a single bad coil pack with a knockoff, stupid rookie mistake. That is why I would only recommend the OEM ones. This was a weird intermittent problem with no codes. One of those things that can drive you crazy if you you do not deal with them all the time. But, I learned a lot. Glad you liked it.

    I've got a 08 2.5 and this morning leaving work after about a minute after cranking it I head a pop letting it warm up and it went into a ruff idle made it home. Had a doctor's appointment and about 6 miles down the road it started to go dead if you let off the gas pedal. I would have to hold gas at 2k put brakes on with left foot to keep it running. Going down the interstate at 60 it did fine.

    I'm having the same issue on my 2007 Jetta 2.5. I get the P0304 code and I already replaced the fuel injectors thanks to your vid by the way. Now I cleared the code and same code still pops back up. As far as spark plugs go I did replace all 5 and have only bought one Bosche ignition coil for cylinder 4 which is the one misfiring. I think I'm going to try as you did and buy the 5 coil packs from DAP. Hopefully it solves my issue as it did yours .

    • @theeddies
      @theeddies  5 років тому

      Make sure you check the wiring and your connector for broken leads or cuts if you have not. Easy way is to switch a known good coil to cylinder 4 and clear and recheck codes. If the code moves with the coil it is probably the coil, if not you most likely have a wiring issue. Good luck, it took me awhile to solve mine. If you do end up going to DAP, let them know I sent you there. They probably won't care but might. Best!

    notorious for their headgaskets? I have yet to come across one among the dozens at junkyards and facebook marketplace that has had a headgasket issue. I would also recommend popping up the ignition coils before attempting to remove the plugs, and push inwards like squeezing it before pushing the connector outwards, to disconnect it from the coil. Then pull the coil out completely. Reverse order when installing (slightly in, connect, pop in fully).

    I believe I've been having this same problem for the past 20 days. Immediate Flashing check engine light. around 2500-3000 RPM it would start Stuttering/Sputtering, Raid Misfiring. I've replaced Coils, Plugs for the 2nd time (they were all replaced in December) PCV Valve Cover & Diaphragm, Checked VVT, Replaced Fuel injector 1, Top & Bottom O-Rings, Cylinder Pressure Check. I was only getting 0.4-6 volts in Fuel Injector Pigtail 1, after replaced it gets around 2.4-7 Volts, all the rest are 3.3v. still haven't resolved the problem.

    I just paid a mechanic ~550 bucks for a diagnostic, ignition coil replacement, and spark plug replacement. Fair price or did I get ripped off ? Honestly if I had seen this video I would have done it myself but I just want to know if this is fair market value for the job so I can feel that I can trust this mechanic.

    • @theeddies
      @theeddies  4 роки тому +1

      Hello, honestly if parts were included that is probably pretty normal, but it is not what I would call a fair price. Even if they got the coils and plugs from a dealer, that is no more than $300, so $250 labor for a $100 job is not what I would call fair. But like I said it is probably normal.

      Sadly, the transaxle blew up in this car about a year after. The transmission had already been repaired (not by me) and I think the person who did it, did something wrong. The engine was still running fine but finding a good used manual drivetrain for these was difficult and a new one was more than the car was worth so I sold it. • @theeddies
      @theeddies  5 років тому

      Other than a coincidental bad coil pack, could be bad injector, carbon build up on valves, connector/wiring issue, ecm problem. First thing I would do is move the coil pack from 1 to another cylinder and see if the misfire moves to the new cylinder. If not, do a thorough check of the wiring harness to #1 connector looking for faults. These gremlins can be a bitch sometimes. Best!
