Another awesome thing about this song is that if you listen with good headphones, when Gira says "Sing in reverse!" you can immediately hear faint backwards vocals that he tracked underneath him. Two years of loving this album and I just noticed it.

I love how swans uses repetition of sound as a song structure. Then they just smack you square in the jugular with pure noise. Simply amazing. Really looking forward to this album!

My first exposure to this band. The balls of that note at 1:32 and the follow through has completely won me over.
I like to imagine that they held focus groups to figure out exactly how long they could hold that chord before people would just shut off their stereos, and then Gira said, "Okay, let's do it for one bar less than that."
I didn't think Swans could make an album cover than was even creepier than The Seer's, but here it is.

You can't get off the ride and the operator is behind a tent having a cigarette. Carnival clowns are laughing at you while you squirm. You make it home and your body shakes subside as you drink hot chocolate under a blanket - only then do you realise how fantastic the whole experience was.

We NEED more music like this now. This album is the final rock album of the 2010’s I truly believed in. Everything rock should be but stopped being. Aggressive, angry, heavy, scary. This is why people moved to rap now. Not enough acts like Swans. Much love to the band for powerful tunes like these.

There's something terrifying about this band. Something primal, elemental...
I saw one comment here and inspired me to say this. In all my time alive, I had some strange (or stressful) dreams where I'm doing random stuff or trying to go to different places, but at the end of the dream, I'm never able to end or complete these things. An example of this would be a dream where I am getting up in the morning, getting ready to go to high school. But in the dream I'm never able to reach the school, a lot of things happen that doesn't allow me to take the bus or even run to my goal. This song somewhat reminds me of this dreams and the feeling they convey on me.
Back in 2017 my brother, a group of high school friends and I met back for our 10 year high school graduation anniversary and we decided to do a group acid trip. Most took 1 tab, myself and two other more adventurous friends took 2. At the peak, the 3 of us that were more brave / stupid thought it would be a good idea to go into a room, turn off all the lights, and listen to music. I suggested we listen to this piece.
Needless to say, a portal to another dimension opened up in that room that evening. One of my friends got a bit overwhelmed and left the room, so it was just 2 of us in there. After the song, the other guy turned to me and asked "what fucking band is this?". That was his intro to Swans.
May be the best band I've ever heard to this day. Every time I drop acid, Swans is there in one way or another.
