For growing melons, you’ll need a large 16 to 18 inches pot. In a really large, 24 inches pot, you can try growing 2 melons vines.
Melons grow best in well-draining soil that is very loamy and rich in organic matter with a pH of 6-7. You can mix aged manure or compost to enrich the soil.

Potting mix??? Real earth dirt with compost, I used to have my pots of earthenware ceramic that was the common pot in Paraguay, South America and my mix was real earth dirt, dissecated cow manure or chicken with compost, I remember putting rotten wood, stones just to fill it up, and planted there my plants, they grow quite okay,
Then I came to USA in 1980 to meet my family already here since 1961, and I tried to have a pet plant but I could not get dirt, not place to dig, I went to the park and started getting in cups, bags a little of soil here and there, because I had not idea that potting mix existed for sale, or cat litter, and not speaking English only Spanish, Portuguese and French, I was lost without being lost, now I laught thinking how I missunderstood so many things, but I learned to say "tu big mac" (two big mac), a friend of my brother told me, so everywhere I go I said so and I was quite amused because always they give me two, but I just pay and wonder! sometimes they said something and I answered "okay" so I was vulnerable to eat whatever they gave me!
