Sony dominates the 8-bit mirrorless video ghetto, which is good enough for UA-cam blogging, but falls short of professional production standards. They're on the verge of breaking through the 10-bit barrier with the A7s III, but it's out of reach for most bloggers at $3500. it's easy to custom WB, check video "How to create your own custom white balance color filters on Sony Cameras " WB +1 red +1 pink (=-1 green) you get canon color. You can custom with K degree WB, custom WB (by gray card), auto WB to shirt +1 red +1 pink (-1 green).
My eyeballs are still bouncing after watching this. The G9 was far smoother and the warpy "stuff" doesn't bother me. The exposure and colors were better too. Much of the Sony footage seemed a bit underexposed.
Sony A7III is certainly a pioneering camera for full frame but without that flip out screen it isn't the best for vlogging if you are simply vlogging. The AF is fantastic but when stepping up your vlog game the rules of composition will start to apply more and the fact it's only an 8-bit camera may be a bit stifling for creatives looking to push the visual boundaries of their vlogs. But generally speaking I think Sony seems to be the safest investment as they really seem to listen to their customer base. I'm a Pany boy myself minus the AF for video it's the perfect system for my needs and that's how all purchases should be made, what works best for you.
I love your reviews but keep it 100 you have a micro four-thirds head. But i won't hate you, its 2020. But I'm happy your on a sony, finally got a big boy video cam ;)

glad to see you came to realize the mountsize has nothing to do with ibis capabilities ;) but then again .. mountsize also has nothing to do with lenssize :D
I had been watching so many Sony A7SIII videos and reviews. Every single time I felt weird about the colors. I always thought that the green looks very over saturated at times and skin tones looks little more yellow. A little more research and Caleb from DSLR video shooter and Dave Maze from Indy mogul almost showed that the colors are shifting towards green to overcome the magenta cast that their mirrorless alpha line up had suffered. I think cannon will still win the color science, the colors from C70 still got the canon colors but the R6 really is crippled hard. And if the canon C50 could be cheaper and lighter, I think we still might have contenders for Sony A7SIII. Canon cinema line up should really get down to mirrorless camera's price range then I will forgive them about the cripples they done on the R mirrorless line up.
@@sadasd9723 yeah i remember arri's classical color science looks so green at times. But the way arri do it looks more natural than sony's. Sony's color science on A7SIII looks like a cartoon to be honest i want that camera on technical aspect like dynamic range and low light but sure if canon could do it on smaller body, it's the way to go.
@@navireljan1857 I am not quite sure what is up with your eyes ... maybe you were an eagle in former life. 😅 I am surely not an expert in colors but calling it cartoonish is well over the top. Beside the fact that the unbalanced colors in many videos are a result of unproper white balance and not ideal color correction ... a slight shift that comes straight out of camera with 10bit is easily fixed in a way that 99% of the viewers wouldn't see anyway. And i am not talking about creative grading that makes the whole discussion obsolet. There is an interesting comparison between the arri alexa mini, the venice and the a7s iii that shows how close things have become. Yeah, the C70 looked intriguing at first but after a little bit of thinking i don't regret to have changed to the a7s iii ... and colors were not high up on my comparison list 😀
@@hcl8836 I had experience with sony a7 line up and canon r series but not yet with a7siii. Im a bit too perfectionist here but it's not that easy to match colors even if you have 10bit. 10bit will allow you to push colors and avoid banding but you cannot tweak it to match other cameras. Im not here to justify my purchase of canon or maybe even if i buy into sony but if theres a flaw, there would be. Camera conspiracies noticed himself the colors from sony is a bit different and not so realistic. Canon does it right and so arri alexa mini. Well if you have questions about it ask the man himself, kasey.
@@hcl8836 its indy mogul your talkin about i mention it and based from my experience on color grading, you would have a hard time matching colors with them specially if you are in extreme conditions of lighting with a lot of color shifting to work with. Aditional to this is the video from dslr video shooter as you see sony didn't completely eliminated magenta shift there is still a problem . Matti hapoja also mentioned about the green shift from a7siii. Lots of videos where they have proper white balance, but it's either the skin looks yellow or the green looks over saturated. Don't get me wrong color science there had improved way better that previous sony alpha cameras. And it's all gonna depend on your preference.

Third-party lenses with no CPU contacts only give you 3-axis stabilization. Not 5-axis like with native lenses. Try a native Sony wide and you might get better results.
i still believe that yes the A7siii might be the better tool for videos than all the competitors if you just want a tool that delivers a solid videos in this specific form factor but then again if am only interested in videos why limit myself to this form factor why not just spend more or less for a C70 or a komodo or a BMC which all come in compact sizes for a true cine cameras , that's why i still believe for a better value the R5 is the better investment ,yes it has it own shortcomings and the a7siii is better in some video aspects but the R5 have proved itself to be an amazing hybrid specially with the latest fw updates and the ones that are coming which should bring Clog3 and a lower bitrate for 8k and HFR for 1080 among other things , so yes for an almost similar price than the A7siii you might not get all of what it do best but you'll get almost as close plus a lot more in photos as well if you're hybrid shooter which as i said makes it the better value and better investment specially if you just do yt videos or vlogging then you might even consider the R6 or wait for the A7iv. i own neither and am still rocking a 12yo 7Dm1 with rx100 on the side and they still do me just fine xD
Kinda funny that the first video on this channel was about the a7iii, and now he finally submitted to it.
Yeah Sony is great for me :) Could use a flippy screen but...
A7c or a7siii or zv1. Pick your poison
3rd and last night in tent up the mountains. Had dinner, shaved, cup T, and although keeping away from news and gadgets... I am happy to watch yet another CC . Using a Panasonic camcorder up here.. and it's good but now thinking for videos of the Deer, Ravens, Grouse and Hares I need a Sony A7 III ?
Wild bears prefer Panasonic.
Has the Sony for less than a week and the skin has already started turn green. We get to witness a true reptilian lord in the making.
it's easy to custom WB, check video "How to create your own custom white balance color filters on Sony Cameras
" WB +1 red +1 pink (=-1 green) you get canon color.
If you don't like Kasey's opinions, just wait a week and they'll change!
Only Sony can make you look green and pink at the same time, awful
Omg seriously
Check your monitors kids, I'm not seeing the green. lol
Should probably get your eyes checked.
@@TheSackless Thanks for backing me up!
I'm watching on a TV and no green there, unless you're cross-eyed and are seeing grass overlaid over his face?
"B-roll town... I'd sign up for Mayor." 😂😂
5 years was a very long time to listen.
To me the warping of the G9 is not even a fraction as annoying as that weird earthquake rumble that Sony has every 3 steps lol
I really enjoy watching your videos!
Looking good with the buzz cut, dude!
nowadays I start to fall in love love my a6400 again and again
I love how you take the best Cameras available today, and make them look worse than a GoPro.
Never change
I think the warpy stuff is more indicative of a vlog than something thats supposed to be more cinematic and more professional
Truth has been revealed! He's a disciple of Sony Northrup (the Toneh God).
When you want to get the squirrels in slow motion use the lock on flexible spot option in focus area and it should work
That stabilisation IS in A7C....they are just not advertising it. There were a couple of UA-cam videos about it.
Active stabe is not in there, only gyro data that takes hours to render.
I love your reviews but keep it 100 you have a micro four-thirds head. But i won't hate you, its 2020. But I'm happy your on a sony, finally got a big boy video cam ;)
Who doesn't love flat earth santa. You were right to fire Josh 👍💪
God you're dumb, Josh 😂
Warpy Shit vs Jittery Shit... FIGHT! Seriously though, my eyes preferred the warp over the jitters.
You don’t know what the C-line has in mind for RF Mount in the future. Perhaps the CXXX will have a humongous C4K sensor that utilize the entire mount ^_^ I’m so curious as to what their RF C-plans actually are.
I'm going to try the keyboard you recommended.
Next time please turn on image stabilization
Loved it. I have a new A7SIII.
R5 has squirrel eye autofocus. If you had got a CFexpress card and shot 4k 120p you would have discovered that.
The G9 looks fine and the system (camera + lens) is much more compact.
YOU GOT BRIBED 😅, BY THAT GUY WHO SEND YOU ALL THOSE GIFTS. NO FLIP SCREEN IS NOT AN ISSUE NOW HAHA.
Glad you like the Sony. I use the a7r and a6000 and know I prefer the a6000 for vloginng/video,
G9 is a beast, the image looked better, colors looked more natural, stabilization KILLED the A7C... wow i mean the A7III
Love the new haircut. To quote Stephen Fry, "a hair cut is a hair enhanced."
Josh and Karen...do I hear wedding bells?
glad to see you came to realize the mountsize has nothing to do with ibis capabilities ;) but then again .. mountsize also has nothing to do with lenssize :D
I never said it didn't, just that Sony now crops in to allow it to move more inside it's tiny mount :)
I think they are tryna copy the arri look of green shadows
Have you tried registering your face? You can set Sony to prioritize registered faces in the menu. See if that helps with squirrels too while you're at it
Good job!! What about the rolling shutter?
