I really loved this overall breakdown and the accuracy i wish that you had overall talked about the only two “consistent” burn decks with atarka red burn with bushwhacker and good ole mono red as well as its main variation boros heroic or “stoic burn”
The only part I find myself missing is more info on some of these decks. You got me exited for pioneer and hopefully it will be in Arena sooner rather than later
I think for Creativity, it needs to be noted that Fire Prophecy isnt the best removal spell. It exists in the deck just in case you draw Xenagos. Fire prophecy allows you to put a card on the bottom of your library. Discarding Worldspine Wurm is easy in this deck and allows it to go back in the library for Creativity, but if you draw Xenagos, you NEED fire prophecy to be able to win.
I play Boros Heroic in pioneer. It is not the best deck, but it works and is fun as hell for players like me, who like spellslinging and aggresive strategies.
Would love to see more videos on Pioneer! I'm whetting my toes in the format at the moment, with gruul stompy (which I'm slowly changing to gruul vehicles) and a janky golgari zombies build that is roughly built off an old standard deck that I enjoyed a lot during Guilds of Ravnica standard.
Pioneer feels lika a better format than modern now thanks to modern horizons... the format became so fast and opressive, and everyone is playing the same cards
A good preview of what's coming (or what's already here) in Explorer. Best of One also has a bunch of stuff that probably doesn't make it to traditional Best of Three like Hammertime and Minion of the Mighty in case winning on turn 3 feels a little too slow to you.
They basically all exist, only significant differences is green devotion isn't as combo, it just goes off with Storm the Festivals and sometimes Finale of Devasation, the izzet spellslinger version uses Sprite Dragon, and half the Greasefang decks are Esper instead, giving you counterspells, changing the mill into looting with Tainted Indulgence, Faithful Mending and Thirst for Knowledge, and Tezzeret, Betrayer of Flesh to both loot and crew. Consulate Dreadnought wasn't in the Kaladesh remaster so I'm sure there's probably some Hammertime-esque best-of-one builds for it, I know I jammed a lot of that back when Arena was in beta.
I'd like to see more of these videos. It'd be cool if you did the iterations of each deck too as it's just fun to listen and learn even if you need to take your time with the video.
Rakdos mid being the best deck in the format? I'm trying to escape Standard not embrace it, lol. Honestly though I play on arena nowadays and enjoy running acererak combo in the arena version of pioneer.
Having a ton of fun with Dimir Control. Just wish there was a bit more of a win con than gearhulk/shark typhoon but I guess that's the nature of control lol
I've been playing a Dimir Toxic+Proliferation deck. You might play around with it to see how you like it. I basically plant 1 toxic counter, usually with Prologue to Phyresis or Voidwing Hybrid, and then the rest are all come from proliferation. Inexorable Tide and Flux Channeler let's you proliferate on spell or noncreature spell cast, respectively. I usually win by landing a Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus + Jace, Cunning Castaway + Ichormoon Gauntlet combo or by chipping away and winning slowly with Inexorable Tide/Flux Channeler. The Ichormoon Gauntlet combo is wild if you manage it because you can proliferate and create an infinite number of Jaces to win in that turn lol. Soonest I can pull it off is usually turn 6
ah yes another toxic infinite combo that prolong the suffering of my opponents? might try it out.. here at my lgs, a lot of them play aggro/tempo so let's see how the mono green devotion deck fare against them.
I would try to pin down the format or meta at least where in the world. Since I remember from my time beeing a "tournament grinder" that the meta in the U.S. and Europa differt A LOT!
Trying a new series! Pioneer seemed like a great first episode. 13 minutes and you'll know it all! Let me know what you think :)
I think i need to update my abzan rhinos
Maybe pauper next? 😊
LOVED this video. Great idea for a series.

Loved the video, I'm planning to get into the format after this semester and this is what I need!
The only part I find myself missing is more info on some of these decks. You got me exited for pioneer and hopefully it will be in Arena sooner rather than later
Explorer is getting closer and closer to pioneer, and is a very good taste of the format imo :)

Didn't know that you are back. Happy to See! ❤
I play Boros Heroic in pioneer. It is not the best deck, but it works and is fun as hell for players like me, who like spellslinging and aggresive strategies.
I love to see that this channel covers all the formats
Want to see the same with modern
As a loyal Pioneer player, thank you for this video. I hope to see more people appreciating the format. Seems to kinda be the black sheep right now.
Truly is a great format! Thanks
Pioneer, the format where I can play 4 copies of Possibility Storm and win.
Best description of a format ever
Love seeing the great and speedy descriptions of this format and its premiere decks.
I've only recently started getting into pioneer so this is really informative, I'd like to see something similar with modern to
I'll add it to the list!
Pioneer now feels like the golden age of Modern before WotC started f**king with it

Oh no Stephen! 🥺
*Gives clicks and head pats*
There's a good lad, no more tears ❤
I need this for pauper!!!
Love this idea. Pioneer is easily my second favorite format. I’d love to see one on the best format in existence. This is, of course, pauper!

Excellent video I'd love to see how it compares to explorer.

The green devotion combo is why I dont ever consider myself a "brewer". How the hell do people figure these things out?!
Honestly geniuses! haha
:)
Keep up the amazing videos :)
Love playing Spirits!
I've watched this a couple of times now. What a good video!
Fantastic video. Thought about making something similar but I see there's no need since you knocked it out of the park.
I'd like to see more of these videos. It'd be cool if you did the iterations of each deck too as it's just fun to listen and learn even if you need to take your time with the video.
I hope Pioneer becomes the new default way to play MTG. I'm so sick of commander.
I have a busted mono green deck but it's not built like that I think my version is the older version of mono Green
Wedge is back !?!
love ya wedge
I loved your video, 10/10 content, congratulations
I appreciate it!
There is one aggro deck, and it's on the decline. Not great.
Red
6:12 Ardenvale doesn't summon samurai, it summons beautiful women.
Damn i wanted to listen rakdos sacrifice
Rakdos mid being the best deck in the format? I'm trying to escape Standard not embrace it, lol. Honestly though I play on arena nowadays and enjoy running acererak combo in the arena version of pioneer.
thx for upload, im interested in budget pioneer lists, including downgraded versions of meta lists
So cool to hear you back often !
Hi! A month later :D there’s a list of the gruul deck that runs hasty dragons instead of vehicles, any opinions??
There is no way angels is a half tier lower… the matchups are wild against anything except control. (Or lotus field)
Do historic next!
This just goes to show how powerful cards within standard have become in the past couple of years.
Perfect content !
This is a fantastic video and exactly what I need to choose a deck. Great to see you be back!
We like. Hoping to get an "Off-Meta" video like this too, or sleeper?
Spirits deserves a shoutout 10% of the meta at RCQ yesterday was spiritis
No Phyrexian Fight Club variants?
👏PIO👏NEER👏

No Hammertime :'(
love this format! like video format, lol Pioneer is great too I guess

I'm surprised "Hammer Time" wasn't mentioned. It's definitely more viable in modern format but the other day I got turn 3'd on MTGA by it.
I think Hammer Time is definitely more viable in the Arena metas than in paper. I see it a LOT on there too haha
I would try to pin down the format or meta at least where in the world.
Since I remember from my time beeing a "tournament grinder" that the meta in the U.S. and Europa differt A LOT!
I'd be more surprised to find a pioneer event close to me. My LGS stopped all events except for draft and commander.
I think it's AWESOME that you're still alive! Congrats!
Love it, excellent summary. Keep the lioneer content coming
WTH wedge your ALIVE!!!
Heres 3 decks. Play them or lose
Really?
Can we do this video again with a different narrator
I know right?
Ban mono green
only one ramp deck :(
Why should there be more? He's outlining all the main archetypes.
