She's definitely very aware of the fact that her voice is in good shape. Either she just doesn't think it's worth singing live again, or the Vegas formula is really just a temporary solution. We'll see soon I guess.

it's sad because even when she's had bad days, throughout it all we've seen so much musicality and beauty in her fails, i don't think she realizes that but tbf she *is* a perfectionist. it is what it is though, at the end of the day it's her choice, i'm just waiting for new music atp and that's all i'm excited for 😭 amazing work with the series ❤

This is one of the most interesting series done on Mariah. It must’ve taken you a ton amount of time to research, and I’m impressed with the “live-to-lip” portion number of each tour. Thank you! Even better, the fan base has started to acknowledge her lipping more and more. Still remember about 10 years ago or so, I asked whether she recorded a new track to lip in this particular event, that comment was bashed brutally by the fanbase. Overall, I’m a lilttle disappointed with how things go these days, but the same with y’all, I have hope, and I wish the new album may change things a little.

What a journey it’s been ! Thank for you work on this series, so interesting, well researched and appreciative of our Queen. I’ve been very disappointed by the last tours, se are loosing the soul and energy of live singing with this almost full lipping, but I want to be hopeful and I will still admire her incredibily genius talent, support and love her endlessly . May she overcome the difficulties she’s been dealing with and regain confidence 💖
Theres 2 videos of her in interviews when she says things that standout 1) 1990 on a morning show where she says she will never lipsync. 2) interview when she is laying on the couch late 90s and she says she hates being on stage when her voice doesnt sound good

Not the thumbnail 🤣🤣🤣. I throughly enjoyed your series of The Art of Lip-Syncing and I hope Mariah's team aren't taking notes. I think Mariah needs to take a deep breath and not to be too harsh on herself. Lower the keys, cut the climaxes, simplify the set list, maybe have Trey to scream MARIA more.... I recall her wiping tears in my favourite section of this 2024 Celebration in Vegas - the Butterfly medley. I hope she performs that and Hero live next week.
I stand by my opinion , which is that she has big vocal issues. As soon as she goes up her voice becomes weak and unreliable. Plus she looks as she hasn't got any stamina. Of course this prevents her from carrying a whole show live. And here it comes my point : why bother...? She could just do short shows, or even small appearances where she could sing a reduced number of songs, but live. That would be it. Instead she keeps running shows in Vegas and in winter. This doesn't make sense. My other point is, being a newbie in opera singing, that you need a GOOD TECHNIQUE. No buts here! You have to breath in the right way, sustain your sound, let go of your tension, know what to do when you go up and when you go down, pronounce properly and the list goes on and on, as someone here will know. This, she doesn't have at the moment, I believe. Or perhaps she tried but failed nonetheless... Still my point is : stop deceiving your fans , take time off to pull yourself together and then come back, or quit altogether and live your life.
If that was the case we wouldn't have the og artists doing shows anymore, at the end of the day we don't know what happens behind close doors. Also I think is just the "lambs/fans" the ones who care way too much about the live singing as if she just couldn't sing anymore when it's very clear she still can. I get your point but even with you saying you're a singer is not a good opinion (is yours at the end of the day tho), cause singers know that everyone's voices work differently and just because some singers can do some things it doesn't mean it applies for everybody. If you don't like what she's doing currently why bother to watch her content? And if you watch it and don't like it then why bother in commenting bad things? She's human and yes she's not perfect but putting her down is not gonna help either, cause if she's continuously seeing this kind of comments she can easily not care about singing live anymore cause people don't appreciate it.
It does make sense though: big residencies and shows earns her more money. And about the technique, I doubt it would "work" for her sound, have you ever heard an operatic singer sound like Mariah, or Mariah sound operatic?
@@sebastianhuerta481 actually, singing voices are all the same in terms of stages of development, everyone has the same issues, hence it's possible to be a vocal coach - you can literally teach a person, how to avoid break at passagio point, what to do to smoothen it (and there're 3 main passagio points actually, 2 in the chest voice and 1 in head voice, in my case it's E4-A4-E5, all those notes are problematic and requires full attention while singing, you can easily mess up) And yes, singing requires hella lot of the discipline, I mean, let's be honest here - it's not the strongest feature Mariah possesses, hence the voice quality, also that "God given talent which I'm grateful for" perfectly shows her attitude towards her own instrument, like it's something from beyond, something OUT of HER OWN responcibility. I'm not stating that it's 100% true, but it MIGHT BE, hence all the ups and downs during her career path which seems totally illogical, if we pay attention to some more disciplined singers, like Lara Fabian, or Sohyang, for example (picked them, cause they're both close age to Mariah and have similar voices and overall genre)
Her technique has always been questionable. Too much airy fairy singing-it damages the cords SO much, and she lets go of the air in almost every phrase she sings. Then she belts high and unsupported. She knows better than to do this, as her mother is an opera singer, but for some reason she’s done this, and it boggles the mind. Why she doesn’t have a voice teacher warning her up and down before and after every performance is crazy. A voice worth that much money is worth the $100K it would take to have your teacher available at all times.

Whats crazy is that shes lipping all of these vocals shes creating new versions to match her current voice so CLEARLY she still has the ability to sing like that otherwise she wouldnt be able to update her old songs to fit her current voice etc
Something that I noticed is that, even if Mariah rerecords her songs, she almost never rerecords the "usual" lipping parts. Like ABMB climax, Hero o BPCH. I assume that she doesn't do it in order to "make it sound live" Like if you put a 2023 prerecorded track of ABMB and the next second you put the 1995 vocals it will make the 2023 sound live
My prediction is she will finish this second leg of the residency with the same formula, all lipped except vol and ibt outros. (MAYBE she can do some more live adlibs, but not expecting any playback to be cut off). She will return to abu dhabi formula after that until we get mc16
I am really dreading her Christmas shows this year. And its the 30th anniversary so its gotta be a huge event. I hope she seems medical attention and address her voice
you’re right, in the grand scheme of things, the whole lipping ordeal is pretty contained in the lambily.. sure, some instagram comments attack her stage presence or ensembles, but it’s definitely a far cry from 2014-2017 where she was constantly the butt of jokes and news headlines… comparison is the thief of joy but it really could always be worse 😭
As a die hard lamb that just saw her in Vegas last week, I've sadly finally accepted that she does lip sync most of the time now. I'm just glad that she still has concerts and I think we all can agree that she has proven her talent a million times over throughout the years! It's still a super fun time to go and experience a Mariah show, but it definitely is different than it was years ago.
Initially, I went for a really REALLY huge comment but then I realized that it was too much and that we were not here to explain all of our life haha So I'Il try to put it simple : huge congratulations on your whole serie, I loved it so much ! On another point, I just feel kinda sad about it because the lack of confidence and especially the fact that it seems she's no longer emotionally involved into what once was her passion is truly "heartbreaking". Is it really all of this ? Is it just the fact that her voice got to a point where it was no longer possible for her to produce any sound ? I doubt it but we never know. Probably a mix of everything but the thing is, on those last clips from 2024, she looks completely detached from the performance she's doing and that's probably the saddest thing to see from a singer who seemed so devoted to her work.
I went to the vegas show last weekend and she seemed like she didn't want to be there, missed some of her miming cues and had no energy. I feel bad for her.
omg, how can I thank you for creating this series? seriously, you have no idea how much you have calmed my heart, especially after this last video. now I have much more hope that she will go back on these decisions about lip syncing and I'm not even expecting her to return to the same formula as in 2019 on the caution tour, for example (although if that happens I'll love it very much), but that she sings at least 50% live during shows. I'm Brazilian and I'll be going to her show in São Paulo in September, it will be her first show here after 14 years of waiting, and in a stadium with a capacity of more than 40 thousand people, in other words, it will be one of the biggest shows of her career in terms of audience. this, added to the fact that she owed this show to us brazilian lambs and the fact that here in Brazil the fans have a surreal energy (and she knows it) makes me believe that we will have something better than the Vegas shows, in terms of live singing. anyway, thank you very much for providing this series for us, I'm sure the real fans loved it and supported it. and it's like you said, we should support Mariah, but not blindly support her 💖
It’s still crazy she pretty much lip syncs a whole show even with the trajectory in her career clearly driving towards it - I didn’t think it would get there.
The amount of effort you put into this series is amazing!! I agree with you the initial shock of the playback is over, there is only one way to go from here!! Hopefully, she drops some playback, but even if she doesn't I think my excitement for MC30 and MC16 will get me through this
9:23 i think this is a 2010s whistle. The tone just sounds way different imo if you compare to the performances in 2010 when she first lowered the key, or that one TECs performance where she just used the pitched down studio track for all the emotions whistles. I wonder why she didnt record a new track for the emotions whistles this year.
Its all true. Unfortunately something happend after her breakup with Tanaka but she seems so stiff and lost. I genuinely just hope she is ok and safe, but to me she looks medicated and confused wich makes me so fucking sad. I pray she is around people who love and care for her🤍
I feel like the reason for this is her emotional situation, remember how she has been so sad after her breakup 😭 I feel like she not only lost energy in performing, she also lost energy in singing, who knows. If she’s happy as 2022 she may sing mostly lives again. I think she’s well aware that lots of lambs or fans of hers know she’s lipping almost all of her shows. I feel like as of currently she doesn’t care about those as she just lost her motivation but once she’s happy again, she may get that motivation back and sing live and prove herself one more time (even tho she doesn’t need to but she’s Mariah, if she can she will)
It's kinda curious why the musical director or the background singers seems surprised or happy when Mariah "hits" a note? Like they're clapping and screaming SING! to her. Like they're acting? why support a singer on stage who's always lipsyncing?

I have always said as a Lamb that Mariah is an artist before she is a performer, and it seems that she views herself in a similar way.
Absolutely. Shes always said shes a songwriter more than shes a (live) singer. She writes her songs using her voice but its just not the same way the voice is used.
the biggest problems are media and her fans. Media only like to write about her when she fails to say "she's over" or "her voice is gone", and fans (not real fans IMO) pretend that she sings like she did in the 90's. Having stage fright makes her more nervous, so she doesn't wanna risk a bad performance cause of the nerves

I feel like even tho shes been overdoing it with the lipping recently (understatement 😜) the vocals shes been delivering actually live or in the studio are promising and maybe we'll see something CBWT-esque eventually, but on a much smaller scale - where she leaves gaps in the playback to attempt a few money notes

As much as I'd love to agree with your final thoughts...I just can't Cause ultimately it's her own choice and responcibility. If that's what she's chosen - so be it, but I won't ever say it's ok/let's support her/let's understand etc etc. I just grew up differently and for ME (only for me) it's a sign of being...not unprofessional, but not really invested anymore/not dedicated to your own craft. What might be even more surprising for some people, but I truly believe, that Mariah was always like this. Yes, she used to have the voice, but initially she didn't have to lipsync at all, considering its great shape. I think, that Mariah has a mindset of "I'm working with what I have and do what I'm capable of doing". But not really more than that. She was always giving her 100% of efforts, but that just means, she can't really sing anymore at all, cause if that's her 100%...you got the point
I guess that's true... from her career patterns Mariah definitely doesn't seem like the most discipline/rule-motivated person. She kind of just works in bursts and goes with her artistic intuition, but it's not always fully practical or even logical, or even as you say, keeping to a kind of professional standard.
She is absolutely not trying. definitely not giving her 100% nowadays... Debut was because she had something to prove to the critics, to the general public. She was giving her 100% because she wanted to be a legend. She is one now so she has nothing left to prove. She stopped giving her 100% after daydream tour
Too bad that her vocal decline continue to deteriorate over time and the signs of constant slowing down became more evident. She has now fully immersed in the idea of lipping an entire show and we can’t expect her to compensate that void with other elements. For britney, Madonna, Janet and JLo; it is understandable that they would lipsynch their entire singing since they incorporate dancing as the major highlight of their show, singing is merely secondary on their performances but for Mariah where people pay to see her singing live, it’s disappointing that they’ve come just see her miming her tracks. The respect on her own artistic value has diminished. It’s better for Mariah to rest and focus on writing and producing rather than putting up a show full of deception.
It's so heartbreaking cause even at her worst, it's the emotion, the presence, the creativity that she brings in her performances is what I'm dying to see and HEAR. It was sad enough when everytime she sang, you had to think "is it live? is it lipped?". I personally wouldn't care if she just cut her climaxes, or didnt belt the complex parts, but still sang what she could live, than do this cheap impersonation of 90s everyday for basic people who don't even care about her.
As a lamb I wouldn’t mind if she stops performing for awhile while. But what I want is that she s making new albums in a style that fits her current voice. No autotune, no lipsync, just her beautiful voice she still got. And her songwriting ofcourse. She has nothing to prove, so don’t look back constantly. Hope she’ll comes with something new and different projects like a jazz album, or a EDM album or something in the style of Lana Del Rey. Caution was so refreshing, but its a longgg time ago…
After watching her show in Brazil, I could say that it was all playback, just like Vegas, but she did so perfectly that everyone tought that she was singing live. My sister was impressed. Even I started questioning my records of that show. It’s almost humanly impossible to carry a show like that, mimicking to every word on time, which is not the version of the album, but several versions for each show. By the way I saw her prompt and it has nothing special but lines like a karaoke
tbh I'm actually really sad to see her do this but whatever makes her feel good imo. her voice clearly matches the playback so these are clearly new recorded tracks and she sounds amazing. hoping she regains her confidence back and surprise us in mc16.
This has been an amazing journey for the past few weeks . I hope this will be kinda like a MARIAH'S LIPPING TECHNOLOGY DICTIONARY for those that have been, that are, and will continue to be in denial about mariah's deep, rich, and tedious lipping formula. She could lip 100% of the show and i wouldn’t mind because i know what her voice is capable of and also the abuse it went through for those 30+ years. The more she ages the less stamina she has and it’s okay. It’s not that she can’t hit the note, she can’t do it continuously for a whole night. With the difficulty of her catalog lip syncing is the best solution for a solid show. As long as she record updated tracks every time i’m fine.

on another note, mariah ALWAYS has said that she feels much more confident and stable in studio (makes sense since you can control basically everything) Something tells me that the passion for singing is still there, and she might actually have fun recording the alternative takes. She can easily just put the studio versions of all her songs, lower the pitch or use some source of AI and call it done. but she still love to play around with her instrument and fed us, otherwise i doubt she would have more than 2 tracks for some songs. Even if it isn't authentical i would love to see how she plays with her songs (changing the keys, alternative melodies, new instruments, etc; hell, even 2024 mariah emotions og key!!!) Im quite surprised she never releaesed some source of "Mariah's version" of her albums, missed opportunity for MC30 in 2020

Has anyone noticed that Mariah had a breast reduction? She looks great! It had to be somewhere at the end of last year or very early this year. Natural or enhanced all of that hurts your back after a while. Depending on hormones and how many "anniversaries" someone has healing time can take longer than a few weeks; and clearly Mariah has been very busy lately. I wonder if pain medication and her current medications could be a factor; but I’ve never had major surgery so I’m not sure. Side note: It looks like Mariah has her microphone on the mic-stand so high sometimes; like she’s forcing herself to have good posture. Lol I probably need to do that. 😂
Yes, I did notice the breast size is unusual smaller than I remember from the recent clips in Vegas. That could be why she look so medicated /lack of energy.
Correction: the ending whistles for Emotions is definitely a playback from 2010s, cause it's airy not unlike if you transpose the key (if it really was studio) it'll sound more of fuller without the use of formant shifting (if that makes sense . And i saw some other comments (i think it was here or Emancipation of MC) that maybe Daniel Moore is one of the factors of why Mariah is excessively used lipsyncing for the past 3 years. Anyways, i'm honestly so proud of u compiling and actually identifying what's lipsync or not because I myself have noticed this a long time ago (some / most people never really identified it), the dedication u have on this series. He might've said "Mariah, I know you're worried about your voice, why don't you prerecord everything to give a perfect show and sing live another time". I saw the Vegas shows multiple times during the first leg, and just like he mentioned in the video no one really cares whether or not she’s lip-synching. They are just there for the show and the glamour of it all all.
13:51 she did do some adlibs like this on the last 4 shows or something like that, and i thought they sounded so good. I also havent seen anyone in the lambily point this out yet, but after this part o make it happen, she does sing "and pray to the lord hes gonna make it happen." It's so weird cause she goes from lipping, to live, back to lipping. Fly like a bird also has 1 line live, "right now right now lord i need you right here by my side." On the last vegas show she sang that part with so much fluidity. I know you already completed the series but i havent seen anybody point these things out so i just wanted to adress that. I loved this series so much and im so glad you put the time and energy into it for all of us lambs to enjoy!

In the lambily i feel we're a lot more desensitized to lipping and pointing out those "live attempts" like you said, and I think that shows in stuff like how you get a lot more "note attempt" and "era vs era vocal battles" type of videos in the lambily compared to many other fandoms

I just vaguely said "personal stuff" in the last episode cause tbh I don't know what really went down during those months. It seems like so much changed in such a short time from like July to October.
With her discography every single song being vocal suicide even without the belts and whistles she could’ve started lipping whole concerts ages ago!!! I’m happy to hear the new pre recorded tracks though cause they still show what she can do relaxed and comfortable in the studio!
Im thinking the emotions ending whistles were pre recorded for the Ischgl show in 2012, most likely because the key was recently lowered, and to sound more realistic in general. They are actually more airy than the 90’s whistles track she used up until 2010.
I don’t know about this year but I think it’s likely at some point in the future we’ll see a lot of the older songs lowered including VOL and IBT and the playback being equivalent to the Lovers and Friends festival (I don’t think either of those songs will be fully live again)

This is one of the most interesting series done on Mariah. It must’ve taken you a ton amount of time to research, and I’m impressed with the “live-to-lip” portion number of each tour. Thank you!
Even better, the fan base has started to acknowledge her lipping more and more. Still remember about 10 years ago or so, I asked whether she recorded a new track to lip in this particular event, that comment was bashed brutally by the fanbase.
Overall, I’m a lilttle disappointed with how things go these days, but the same with y’all, I have hope, and I wish the new album may change things a little.

I’ve been very disappointed by the last tours, se are loosing the soul and energy of live singing with this almost full lipping, but I want to be hopeful and I will still admire her incredibily genius talent, support and love her endlessly .

2) interview when she is laying on the couch late 90s and she says she hates being on stage when her voice doesnt sound good

I think Mariah needs to take a deep breath and not to be too harsh on herself. Lower the keys, cut the climaxes, simplify the set list, maybe have Trey to scream MARIA more.... I recall her wiping tears in my favourite section of this 2024 Celebration in Vegas - the Butterfly medley. I hope she performs that and Hero live next week.

I stand by my opinion , which is that she has big vocal issues. As soon as she goes up her voice becomes weak and unreliable. Plus she looks as she hasn't got any stamina. Of course this prevents her from carrying a whole show live. And here it comes my point : why bother...? She could just do short shows, or even small appearances where she could sing a reduced number of songs, but live. That would be it. Instead she keeps running shows in Vegas and in winter. This doesn't make sense. My other point is, being a newbie in opera singing, that you need a GOOD TECHNIQUE. No buts here! You have to breath in the right way, sustain your sound, let go of your tension, know what to do when you go up and when you go down, pronounce properly and the list goes on and on, as someone here will know. This, she doesn't have at the moment, I believe. Or perhaps she tried but failed nonetheless... Still my point is : stop deceiving your fans , take time off to pull yourself together and then come back, or quit altogether and live your life.
If that was the case we wouldn't have the og artists doing shows anymore, at the end of the day we don't know what happens behind close doors. Also I think is just the "lambs/fans" the ones who care way too much about the live singing as if she just couldn't sing anymore when it's very clear she still can. I get your point but even with you saying you're a singer is not a good opinion (is yours at the end of the day tho), cause singers know that everyone's voices work differently and just because some singers can do some things it doesn't mean it applies for everybody. If you don't like what she's doing currently why bother to watch her content? And if you watch it and don't like it then why bother in commenting bad things?
She's human and yes she's not perfect but putting her down is not gonna help either, cause if she's continuously seeing this kind of comments she can easily not care about singing live anymore cause people don't appreciate it.
It does make sense though: big residencies and shows earns her more money. And about the technique, I doubt it would "work" for her sound, have you ever heard an operatic singer sound like Mariah, or Mariah sound operatic?
@@sebastianhuerta481 actually, singing voices are all the same in terms of stages of development, everyone has the same issues, hence it's possible to be a vocal coach - you can literally teach a person, how to avoid break at passagio point, what to do to smoothen it (and there're 3 main passagio points actually, 2 in the chest voice and 1 in head voice, in my case it's E4-A4-E5, all those notes are problematic and requires full attention while singing, you can easily mess up)
And yes, singing requires hella lot of the discipline, I mean, let's be honest here - it's not the strongest feature Mariah possesses, hence the voice quality, also that "God given talent which I'm grateful for" perfectly shows her attitude towards her own instrument, like it's something from beyond, something OUT of HER OWN responcibility. I'm not stating that it's 100% true, but it MIGHT BE, hence all the ups and downs during her career path which seems totally illogical, if we pay attention to some more disciplined singers, like Lara Fabian, or Sohyang, for example (picked them, cause they're both close age to Mariah and have similar voices and overall genre)
Her technique has always been questionable. Too much airy fairy singing-it damages the cords SO much, and she lets go of the air in almost every phrase she sings. Then she belts high and unsupported. She knows better than to do this, as her mother is an opera singer, but for some reason she’s done this, and it boggles the mind. Why she doesn’t have a voice teacher warning her up and down before and after every performance is crazy. A voice worth that much money is worth the $100K it would take to have your teacher available at all times.

Something that I noticed is that, even if Mariah rerecords her songs, she almost never rerecords the "usual" lipping parts. Like ABMB climax, Hero o BPCH. I assume that she doesn't do it in order to "make it sound live" Like if you put a 2023 prerecorded track of ABMB and the next second you put the 1995 vocals it will make the 2023 sound live

As a die hard lamb that just saw her in Vegas last week, I've sadly finally accepted that she does lip sync most of the time now. I'm just glad that she still has concerts and I think we all can agree that she has proven her talent a million times over throughout the years! It's still a super fun time to go and experience a Mariah show, but it definitely is different than it was years ago.

On another point, I just feel kinda sad about it because the lack of confidence and especially the fact that it seems she's no longer emotionally involved into what once was her passion is truly "heartbreaking". Is it really all of this ? Is it just the fact that her voice got to a point where it was no longer possible for her to produce any sound ? I doubt it but we never know. Probably a mix of everything but the thing is, on those last clips from 2024, she looks completely detached from the performance she's doing and that's probably the saddest thing to see from a singer who seemed so devoted to her work.

omg, how can I thank you for creating this series? seriously, you have no idea how much you have calmed my heart, especially after this last video. now I have much more hope that she will go back on these decisions about lip syncing and I'm not even expecting her to return to the same formula as in 2019 on the caution tour, for example (although if that happens I'll love it very much), but that she sings at least 50% live during shows. I'm Brazilian and I'll be going to her show in São Paulo in September, it will be her first show here after 14 years of waiting, and in a stadium with a capacity of more than 40 thousand people, in other words, it will be one of the biggest shows of her career in terms of audience. this, added to the fact that she owed this show to us brazilian lambs and the fact that here in Brazil the fans have a surreal energy (and she knows it) makes me believe that we will have something better than the Vegas shows, in terms of live singing. anyway, thank you very much for providing this series for us, I'm sure the real fans loved it and supported it. and it's like you said, we should support Mariah, but not blindly support her 💖

I feel like the reason for this is her emotional situation, remember how she has been so sad after her breakup 😭 I feel like she not only lost energy in performing, she also lost energy in singing, who knows. If she’s happy as 2022 she may sing mostly lives again. I think she’s well aware that lots of lambs or fans of hers know she’s lipping almost all of her shows. I have always said as a Lamb that Mariah is an artist before she is a performer, and it seems that she views herself in a similar way.
Absolutely. Shes always said shes a songwriter more than shes a (live) singer. She writes her songs using her voice but its just not the same way the voice is used.

the biggest problems are media and her fans. Media only like to write about her when she fails to say "she's over" or "her voice is gone", and fans (not real fans IMO) pretend that she sings like she did in the 90's. Having stage fright makes her more nervous, so she doesn't wanna risk a bad performance cause of the nerves

Cause ultimately it's her own choice and responcibility. If that's what she's chosen - so be it, but I won't ever say it's ok/let's support her/let's understand etc etc. I just grew up differently and for ME (only for me) it's a sign of being...not unprofessional, but not really invested anymore/not dedicated to your own craft.
What might be even more surprising for some people, but I truly believe, that Mariah was always like this. Yes, she used to have the voice, but initially she didn't have to lipsync at all, considering its great shape. I think, that Mariah has a mindset of "I'm working with what I have and do what I'm capable of doing". But not really more than that. I guess that's true... from her career patterns Mariah definitely doesn't seem like the most discipline/rule-motivated person. Too bad that her vocal decline continue to deteriorate over time and the signs of constant slowing down became more evident. She has now fully immersed in the idea of lipping an entire show and we can’t expect her to compensate that void with other elements. For britney, Madonna, Janet and JLo; it is understandable that they would lipsynch their entire singing since they incorporate dancing as the major highlight of their show, singing is merely secondary on their performances but for Mariah where people pay to see her singing live, it’s disappointing that they’ve come just see her miming her tracks. The respect on her own artistic value has diminished. It’s better for Mariah to rest and focus on writing and producing rather than putting up a show full of deception.

It's so heartbreaking cause even at her worst, it's the emotion, the presence, the creativity that she brings in her performances is what I'm dying to see and HEAR. It was sad enough when everytime she sang, you had to think "is it live? is it lipped?". I personally wouldn't care if she just cut her climaxes, or didnt belt the complex parts, but still sang what she could live, than do this cheap impersonation of 90s everyday for basic people who don't even care about her.
As a lamb I wouldn’t mind if she stops performing for awhile while. But what I want is that she s making new albums in a style that fits her current voice. No autotune, no lipsync, just her beautiful voice she still got. And her songwriting ofcourse. She has nothing to prove, so don’t look back constantly.
Hope she’ll comes with something new and different projects like a jazz album, or a EDM album or something in the style of Lana Del Rey. Caution was so refreshing, but its a longgg time ago…

After watching her show in Brazil, I could say that it was all playback, just like Vegas, but she did so perfectly that everyone tought that she was singing live. My sister was impressed. Even I started questioning my records of that show. It’s almost humanly impossible to carry a show like that, mimicking to every word on time, which is not the version of the album, but several versions for each show. By the way I saw her prompt and it has nothing special but lines like a karaoke

She could lip 100% of the show and i wouldn’t mind because i know what her voice is capable of and also the abuse it went through for those 30+ years. The more she ages the less stamina she has and it’s okay. It’s not that she can’t hit the note, she can’t do it continuously for a whole night. With the difficulty of her catalog lip syncing is the best solution for a solid show. As long as she record updated tracks every time i’m fine.

on another note, mariah ALWAYS has said that she feels much more confident and stable in studio (makes sense since you can control basically everything) Something tells me that the passion for singing is still there, and she might actually have fun recording the alternative takes.
She can easily just put the studio versions of all her songs, lower the pitch or use some source of AI and call it done. but she still love to play around with her instrument and fed us, otherwise i doubt she would have more than 2 tracks for some songs. Even if it isn't authentical i would love to see how she plays with her songs (changing the keys, alternative melodies, new instruments, etc; hell, even 2024 mariah emotions og key!!!)

Has anyone noticed that Mariah had a breast reduction? She looks great! It had to be somewhere at the end of last year or very early this year. Natural or enhanced all of that hurts your back after a while. Depending on hormones and how many "anniversaries" someone has healing time can take longer than a few weeks; and clearly Mariah has been very busy lately. I wonder if pain medication and her current medications could be a factor; but I’ve never had major surgery so I’m not sure.
Side note: It looks like Mariah has her microphone on the mic-stand so high sometimes; like she’s forcing herself to have good posture. Lol I probably need to do that. 😂
Yes, I did notice the breast size is unusual smaller than I remember from the recent clips in Vegas. That could be why she look so medicated /lack of energy.
Correction: the ending whistles for Emotions is definitely a playback from 2010s, cause it's airy not unlike if you transpose the key (if it really was studio) it'll sound more of fuller without the use of formant shifting (if that makes sense . And i saw some other comments (i think it was here or Emancipation of MC) that maybe Daniel Moore is one of the factors of why Mariah is excessively used lipsyncing for the past 3 years. Anyways, i'm honestly so proud of u compiling and actually identifying what's lipsync or not because I myself have noticed this a long time ago (some / most people never really identified it), the dedication u have on this series. I saw the Vegas shows multiple times during the first leg, and just like he mentioned in the video no one really cares whether or not she’s lip-synching. They are just there for the show and the glamour of it all all.

It's so weird cause she goes from lipping, to live, back to lipping. Fly like a bird also has 1 line live, "right now right now lord i need you right here by my side." On the last vegas show she sang that part with so much fluidity. I know you already completed the series but i havent seen anybody point these things out so i just wanted to adress that. Im thinking the emotions ending whistles were pre recorded for the Ischgl show in 2012, most likely because the key was recently lowered, and to sound more realistic in general. They are actually more airy than the 90’s whistles track she used up until 2010.
I don’t know about this year but I think it’s likely at some point in the future we’ll see a lot of the older songs lowered including VOL and IBT and the playback being equivalent to the Lovers and Friends festival (I don’t think either of those songs will be fully live again)
