Just curious, since he got completely spun around, do you think he would have had time to locate the puck and be in the right position to save it? When the puck is travelling at 80mph+ 2-3 seconds is not very long. No disrespect, just curious?
@@gamingsavy2669 that’s a good question, and honestly it seems like a potential toss up, because on the one hand he is a professional goalie, he should know how to quickly identify where the play is going and who people are focused on to help identify the location of puck but in fairness he did have body’s in front of the net. I'm a goalie, have been for 32 years. That was NOT interference, because the goalie had plenty of time to get back into position. However, everyone (almost) had more or less stopped play. The goalie wasn't even watching the play anymore. The question in my mind is whether the play should be considered stopped. The ref had not blown the whistle, so the play was live. It's on the GOALIE to stay focused on the play until he hears a whistle. Therefore, to me, this is a good goal.
Markström has always had a tendency to leave the net to challange the puck in situations like that. Especially when he's frustrated. He's been doing it since he was young but the first time I can think of that was recorded was that Junior championship final (I think it was the finals) between Sweden and Canada
The new meta in the NHL is going to be "if it's a scrum infront of your net just push any attacker on your own goalie and call goalie interference if it goes in".
You talk about the crosscheck in front of the goalie. Reminds me of Reaves and the Vegas Knights in the Stanley Cup finals and how the check led to a Vegas goal. I was screaming at my tv so much I nearly lost my voice
I for one was not expecting the Ducks @ Coyotes appearance in this video to be anything other than my Ducks blowing a 3-0 lead to lose.... twice in a row.
I feel like the second period of Tuesday's Oilers/Canucks game deserved an honourable mention. First the scoreboard clock was somehow showing 54:80 to go in the period (with the tv feed displaying 55:20) forcing a stoppage, then Roussel thinking he'd gotten into a fight with Puljujarvi (of which he definitely hadn't and was subsequently fined $5k, rightly so), and then finally, to top it off, a ref calling stoppage while the puck was still in play to review whether a goal had been scored (of which no, there was in fact no goal) instead of reviewing after a natural stoppage. All in 1 period. Absolute farce.
Drewducer and Steve watch the jets game today Feb. 25 against Montreal, you will have to listen very closely around 13:47 on the clock in the first period. You will hear the dang it at the whistle
As a Ducks fan, we suck so much this year so it makes sense the Coyotes didn't want to be the team that gives us a win, but man that was some really shoddy defense. You can bump into the guy but don't smack him with your stick multiple times. Also, Markstrom leaving the net is very clearly a sign that a goalie is sick and tired of his defense giving up constant breakaways against him even if leaving the net looks silly. Calgary gotta lock it down.
I don't think the Gallagher tip should count because the first goal, the one that went in under the bar, was the goal that got waved off by the officials.. So they reset the clock to that point, disallowing two goals.
On the Montreal goal that was called back can we just mention that Ottawa actually used their time out in the second period and you actually can’t use a coaches challenge if you don’t have a timeout so the video room actually initiated it themselves I may be wrong but I’ve never seen that in the NHL before
There's an "unsung" Zamboni driver out there that is muttering between manual transmission shifts, "If I had that chance, Steve wouldn't have scored on me at all" If the coach had just put me in.. no question.

I'd say that Murray doesn't have full opportunity to get reset. The contact was initiated at the top of the goal crease and when he is facing the play again Murray has been forced back onto his own goal line. Gallagher is still deep in the blue paint forcing Murray to have to try to make any saves directly from the goal line. Gallagher had plenty of opportunity to vacate the blue paint after the contact but didn't and redirected the puck from inside the goal crease.
Would've liked to see the Wings clip vs I think Florida where they messed up a 4 on 1 (attempted one pass that was missed by everyone), then Florida came right back on an odd man rush and score, but then the goal was disallowed. Several dang-its back and forth in rapid succession lol.
There is 2 reasons the disaloud goal should have been aloud. 1. The defenseman was forcing him into the goalie 2. The goalie definitely had the opportunity to get back in position
Don't know what the crease rule is now as they keep changing it, but it used to be players weren't allowed in the blue paint unless the puck was there before them. They should bring that back.
I think the Murray interference is actually regarding the contact between Murray’s stick and Gallagher’s heel just before the goal is scored. G’s skate is in the blue thus negating the goal due to inability to reset insomuch that Murray was unable to bring his stick to the set position at the base of the 5 hole as well as bringing his shoulder around square. Yes. All the contact before that is obviously more dramatic but irrelevant when considering the last contact before the shot that scored.
