had the 222 for a year. no issues The suction cup holds well. looses grip maybe every 4-5 months . not like my old one falling once a week

Hi, did you format the SD card on the dashcam settings before using the device? The format card can be found in the settings section. In addition, I seem to be having problems with this device. it stops recording while I'm driving 😤

Ohm the Internal battery does not lasts over a week. mine is just discarging in like 6-7 minutes from a full charge O.o also I was wondering. while you are in reverse driving and you are actually reversing, does your rear view angle change to be the main viewing angle on your dashcam's screen? since we something called "reversing camera" or am I understanding this feature in the wrong way? :D
I just got this camera yesterday. It won’t stay connected to my phone. In the blue tooth menu it says it’s connected but it won’t re-connect to the next base app or Alexa app. Any ideas? 🤷♂️
Great video, I have the Vava dual dash cam and hate it because when I need to pair it with my phone, it disconnects my network when playing Pandora. Once connected with the dashcam on my Android phone, where I can see the rear or front camera. I have to click on play again to continue playing music. The Vav connects via built-in wifi which disables the network. When the car is off, and lock in the garage I cannot connect to the dashcam, unless the car is on. Do you have any issues when connecting to the camera as I do?

Thank you for the review. This is yet another review that really seems to be in favour of this dash cam.
I'm having really bad luck with my new car, so need to get a dash cam (or the car will sadly have to go.) My biggest, and honestly, only requirement, is recording when I'm away from the car if/when some b*****d knocks my car. I don't want to rip my new car to pieces, hardwiring one of these things, therefore battery life is hugely important to me.
Which leads to my question: Can you please let me know how good the battery life is on this model, with regards to it starting to record when it detects a knock (from another vehicle) when the engine is off and you are away from the car? More specifically, how long (in days?) would the battery last if you were away from the vehicle? Also, how accurate is the knock detection? Eg when someone parallel parks too close to you, and hits your car?
I have a convertible, so can't have a separate camera on my rear "window," therefore do you think the rear view camera add on would be good enough for protecting the rear of my car? Again, I'm referring to recording knocks when the engine is off and I am away from the car. Or do you think the optional cabin view plug in camera would do a better job of this?

Good review I learned a little bit more about it. I struggle taking the camera off the magnetic mount. It feels like I’m breaking it. Is it meant to be like that? Is there a trick to remove it? Thanks
Thank you! And no, you're not breaking it. It's a very strong magnet (which is good). You don't want it popping off while driving

I just bought this Camera less than a Week Ago, for $199 and love it! I could of paid $499 for the 4k 622G, but why would I pay $300 more for just a bit better Resolution?

I have this camera, but I do have issues viewing files. It records so many, that it is difficult to identify specific ones. It also has an interface over wifi to your phone, but over all this feels clunky and slow. If I am doing something wrong, I would very much appreciate Input. Thanks!

Thanks for the video, very useful. I got this dashcam as a christmas present. Just wondering what the larger memory card is used for. The dash cam itself only uses the smaller card.
Barry's if I’m correct the larger memory card is an adaptor for the smaller sd card that you could put into a laptop or pc to view footage on larger screen.
I have just got one of these. I am confused though. If my car is parked, and someone crashes into it, if it starts filming after the event, isn't it too late?

Sorry to hear that! I do have the hardwire kit but I see no reason for me to install it. I've got all the wiring hidden with the 12V CLA connector
I have the 622GW and I was having trouble with the video quality. Turned out that you must use a NextBase SD card , I tried a larger 128g Samsung but that was no good , video quality was poor . This camera is awesome !
If you don't have Alexa how can you do voice commands. Is Alexa necessary to have in order to use this dash cam?
Just bought one of these because some sucker hit my beloved car, quick question why does the screen go blank at times but when I touch it it comes back on?

Great review! You had mentioned that the interior camera is great for monitoring break ins. If I have the interior camera, will it automatically record with motion detection within the vehicle? I can't find anything online to confirm this

Only if you want to update the firmware, download video files, or do other things that the app lets you do. I only open the app about once a month or so to check for firmware updates. Other than that, I rarely use the app.
I love that spelling out ALEXA as it would have made mine go crazy...Good review. Does it allow you to view live footage to your phone in parking mode? This is what I'm looking for...

Hey Cris I messaged you about 522. Well an update. Took it back replaced it n all good. Quite pleased with it would recommend. Only fault I find on rear camera is if you got a long hatchback when u fit it n lift hatchback f shopping etc camera moves at rear every time. Shame it didn’t lock when positioned but might glue it from moving as I got no intentions changing car. But good product. Also Alexa you can’t talk to Alexa on 522 have to have phone near n relay it through phone to Alexa. But hey all the best
Happy to hear it's working out for you, Joe. I can totally see the problem with the rear camera and a hatchback. It probably moves a bunch every time you close the hatch. Hopefully they can come up with a more fixed solution--otherwise some sort of adhesive might be in order for ya.

Can it be powered directly off of a 24 volt outlet, for trucks?
Thank you. It's a 12V powered accessory so I don't believe you can do that without some way to step down the power. You should contact Nextbase and ask them directly though :)
Hi Chris, on parking mode does it also record a few seconds prior to the incident detected by the g sensor just like the BlackVue dashcams?
no it doesnt
I think 1440 30fps resolution is better to use than the 1080 60fps since in day time the shutter speed will be so fast that all the frames will be sharp and the resolution will give you more detail and in lowlight it will let in double the light although there will be more motion blur

I currently use a GoPro to record road trips. It works well with the remote control, but a pain because you have to change batteries manually.
This camera would be hard-wired, so only limit is the size of the card.
How would it work for taking videos of road trips for my UA-cam channel?

You could use it for this purpose, however I wouldn't recommend it as you don't want to risk losing any of the files when they're overwritten automatically. Maybe there's a 12V hardwire kit for the GoPro?

Would you recommend the Nextgen 522GW or the Blackview DR750s? (Will be buying both front and rear window units in either case)
I’ve seen positive reviews on both, and as you mentioned, all the additional features (like alexa) isn’t going to sell me on it.
Most concerned with:
1. Ease of Use (quickly begin recording so I can get on my way)
2. Accessibility via smart phone (live streaming/cloud storage)
3. Overall build quality (something that will last a few years)
4. App UI (device management)
Lastly, the cost is not a concern for me.
Just as long as it checks all the above boxes.

Does this one easily unclip at the top to remove overnight? I have the 312gw and when you push the top out it slides off leaving the mount and wiring in place.
its attached via a really strong magnet so easily removed
Is the parking mode going to drain my car battery if it's activated a lot due to a lot of movement? How fast is the camera going to record when it detects motion? Like after 5-10-15 seconds from motion detection?
If you listen to what he said, he stated it uses the cameras internal battery when you are parked and the car is off.
Hows the night time view on this for the in-cabin view camera? I haven't found any reviews or videos on it...
It's decent as long as there's light from vehicle's in front of you, lights outside the vehicle. Like any camera, it's going to need light so if it's completely dark--that's what you're going to get for an image :)
I've got one of these and the internal battery has been shutting down , I contacted next base their explanation was it's a very small battery it's also been overheating the front camera , the rear one is ok , occasionally you can't see recent footage , on your smart fone , it was a good dash cam to begin with but it has its faults

What’s the difference between the two units? I notice the rear unit is significantly smaller than the front unit? Is there a difference in video quality?
Yes, you can put the "rear window camera" anywhere. The max resolution is 1080p.

It doesn’t record constantly. Only the locked video clips are shorter.
Great video! Since you have all these additional cameras, why not show us some footage, so we can see how they look too?
Thanks for watching. You can see the in-car camera at the beginning of the video (where I'm taking to the camera). The audio and video is from that camera. You can see dash cam footage (main camera) throughout the video. The only one I don't show is the rear camera, but it's of equivalent quality to the in-car cam.

I have been looking into dash cams for the past few months & have done various web searches to try & figure out which was going to be the best one for me. I had looked at this make and this particular model a few times but I wasn’t sure as I didn’t completely understand all the features (dash cam newbie). Your video helped me more than anything else I had looked at (including the nextbase website) & I now feel confident that I can purchase one that fits my budget/needs. I do have 1 question that maybe you or someone else might be able to answer? Is there any benefit to purchasing the click & go pro mount for the cam over using whatever mount comes with the cam? I am intending to leave the cam in place so that if the car is knocked, etc it starts recording so won’t be taking it down really but does one of the mounts look tidier/neater than the other? Thank you
I'm happy it helped you! I'm not sure what the click and go pro mount is that you referred to, but it does come with a very sturdy magnetic mount attachment and a "fixed" (with 3M tape) attachment to the windshield. It gets hot here in SoCal in the summer and it's not going anywhere... almost like it's cemented to the window lol
@@chris I was looking on the nextbase website I saw that there was a separate mount available to buy; it's what they call the magnetic mount (over here in the UK anyway) so I assumed that the standard package just came with a suction cup mount and the other mount (with the 3M tape) was an additional purchase but the bundle I have just purchased comes both ways of mounting. Hi this is probably a daft question, but do I have to have Alexa at home to use this feature?
You can use the webcam without it (it's off by default) but to use it then all you need is the Amazon Alexa app on your phone.
Hey Chris bought a 522gw today was difficult to put applications on especially my next base n ask Lexa n then it froze like it was corrupted. Got hot n then wouldn’t do anything couldn’t touch buttons or turn it off. had bad day with this. It’s going bk tomorrow n exchanging for same n try again to see if I can get it to work. Before I trash talk it. Hopefully I’m wrong n it’s just a one off

It displays the 2nd cam as a PiP but you can tap it and it will then go full screen. Once it's full screen, tap the screen again and it returns to PiP. So yes, it will show dual at the same time, and you can switch to full screen.

You can watch the front full screen but the 2nd camera shows as a PiP when it's attached. When you switch to the 2nd camera it displays full screen (no PiP) until you tap the screen again--then it returns to the main cam with the 2nd cam in PiP.

Out of the box, only 12V CLA. They do offer a hardwire kit (available separately)

How would you rate this camera compared to the Garmin 66w?

My camera gives me an error message, that the SD card needs formatting ! Not sure if it’s working, because of a lack of a manual. So far, it sucks, it was professionally installed. I’m not really enjoying mine, yet!
Can this record footage from the side because a lot of my accidents come from people sideswiping me?
Only if you use the optional rear view camera pointed at one side. But no, it's not wide enough to cover both sides

All depends on where you put it and how close it is to your window. In my findings (see video) it's great at night, but any camera is only as good as the amount of light available so if it's pitch black out, raining, etc. your results won't be so great. Overall I've been impressed.

had mine for a year now, stops recording all the time, the battery doesn't charge anymore has to be plugged in all the time, error keeps popping up saying format SD card, the app freeze all the time and doesn't download the videos. horrible experience with mine. looks like you had a good one, because I see a lot of comments having the same issue as mine. bad build quality, good video tho. and i am out of warranty can't even change the battery easily have to solder it what a joke. sorry had to say this for other people to be aware feel free to delete it tho.

Yes, it does output through the car speakers. With that said, if you plan to really use Alexa a lot in your car, you'd do what I did... get both :)

Why both? Apart from the calling feature I’m pretty sure third-party Alexa works just fine? Any issues of having both which one does it trigger when you say Alexa?
You'll want to disable the Alexa feature of the Nextbase when using another Alexa device. The Alexa Auto is better for me in two ways: more microphones and it supports more music services (Amazon limits 3rd party Alexa-enabled devices)
