I didn’t realize thrift stores sold candy but I’m glad you found those snazzy vintage D&D guides-I had forgotten how impressive a lot of the their art work was. Great find!
According to my uncle who served some time, Tad Williams books are very popular in prison. I guess a 1000-page tome like To Green Angel Tower goes by quickly when you have a lot of time on your hands.
James and the Giant Peach would definitely be chopped up by today's sensitive editors. My godfather collected miniature books. He explained they were printed for people going by wagon across the continent, which was a fascinating consideration I would have never come up with: a family in candlelight as a parent reads The Pickwick Papers to them, whiling away an evening hour.
To be fair to Tad Williams, To Green Angel Tower is twice as long as either of the other two and basically should have been two books. In Mass Market it was indeed published in two volumes. Also to be fair to him, it's one of the better books ever written in my opinion.
Sam is my favorite character, too. When you mentioned "paraphernalia", I thought you were going to show off a bong or something. I believe that stuff you find in books is properly called "ephemera", but I might be mistaken about that. I hope you'll give Walden another try. It's one of my favorite books. That's a really great selection of books. I wish the books at my local thrift stores in that kind of condition.
@@bookjack My local Goodwill is stocked with badn books in lousy condition. I've really enjoyed watching your channel grow and progress over the last year or so, by the way
I loved the John Rodríguez character in Authority. Definitely want to re-read The Southern Reach Trilogy. Hummingbird Salamander: I never got "Jane Smith's" motivation. Mr.Beast chocolate : I see them at Stew Leonard's and still wonder if it's a joke.
If you do find A Little Life, I'm looking for it too because my daughter wants it. I've sold it a few times in my shop, but I haven't found it since she asked.
That was a great haul video! Recently read Dogs of War and liked it. Maybe a 4 star for me. It's a duology, Bear Head being the second book. Also a 4 star for me. Just finished Leviathan Wakes in The Expanse series, loved it. I got part one finished for Klara and the Sun, then put it down. Will get back to it soon I think. Just bought Redshirts by Scalzi from your eBay store. Looking forward to that. Oh, btw it's GENX as in GEN-X or Generation X 🤣 but I liked the way you pronounced it! Take care...
Sorry about that 😅 I'm sure you will like Redshirts. Very fast-paced. I started Sea of Rust and am liking it a lot. It's very much like a book I tried to write once
Thanks for the interesting book haul. You have great luck finding such nice titles in like new condition. I’ve seen the fake Agatha Christie books. I read all of her mysteries between fifth and twelfth grades. When she died she had already written books killing off her two main sleuths, Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. She didn’t want her favorite characters, whom she created, to be used again after her death. Sadly, one or more of her heirs has disrespected her wishes and allowed this. Her books are still big sellers around the world, but apparently this isn’t enough for her descendants. This is reprehensible and I will not be reading them. 😺✌️
Walden was my very first DNF many years ago. I've only DNFd 3 books so far. It was repetitive and condescending, so I just didn't care to finish it. And let's be honest, Deez Nuts is not the worst thing on UA-cam.
Unfortunately I am chronically online so the Deez Nuts are at the thrift because there was a suit against Mr beast for copyright infringement, so those were all pulled from stores.
@@bookjack Yep he lost a legal battle to a Gourmet peanut company out of Florida that has been around since 2012, so he had to pull everything after that loss, and rebrand. It happened at the end of 2023, so it was probably still good to eat.
Ted Chiang, one of our best contemporary authors, full stop, and that short story collection is unforgettable.
Agreed. Both of his collections are amazing

First time I saw candy bars there. A bit sketchy for sure
I listened to Dogs of War last year. Tchaikovsky is a real sci-fi wizard. Was quite the fun ride. You will grin as you read this book.
I'm planning on it 🤠

I'd imagine fantasy escapism would be popular

A great image. Makes me want to collect them even more
Mama use to say "Got your Ninja Handbook and clean undies?" whenever I left home.

Would be hard for a mass market paperback to contain

Ah yeah ephemera 😅 I am lucky my local goodwill is well stocked

Thanks so much Randy sorry I'm only seeing this now. Hope you are doing well!

Oh I haven't seen them at Stews
MY recommendation: Use Great Expectations as compost!
😂I liked that one!

Yes I am very lucky. Thanks for watching :)
Now I feel bad I got rid of 4 different D&D handbooks years ago just gave them away. Who knew they were valuable.
Made someone elses day at least

Deez Nuts is copyrighted? 😅 Lol
