That said, James Dean Bradfield is astounding. I can't think of another musician that could have turned the Holy Bible lyrics into such musical masterpieces.
Just saying wow and in total agrreance with you.X❤❤❤
Back later...
XXX❤❤😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
And Mr Moore!
Director: avoid looking at the camera
James: say no more ✅
I studied political history at University because of Richey. I spent all Summer of 1997 studying The Holy Bible lyrics. One of the best songwriter ever is Richey James Edwards. working class nero.
Why are you saying this? I was 17 and loved that teenage angst you call "crap". Richey was more into his own shit than Cobain. But he created very good lyrics full of historical references
someone knows their manics! it's easy to do some research on this band and see that Richey and Nicky where the lyric writers early on with James and Sean doing the music...
Richey the greatest poet of the 90’s
Nero indeed.
Respect to you.
Omg, it's taken me 26 years to realise it's Lover backwards as well as Revol.
Awesome, nobody write lyrics like Richey.
Nicky does
When punk becomes genius ✅
Just amazing. Sean Moore is brilliant in this!
Yeah man, i love his body and hair here!!
Bradders in that sailor suit. Be still, my beating 💓...
🤢
😍
MASTER CLASS OF HOW A BAND SHOULD LOOK ON A VIDEO SHOOT!
To think that this meisterwerk Album came out the same day as "Definitely Maybe" is astonishing. Its like comparing James Joyce's "Ulysses with a copy of The Beano!!!!
Most likely the most thought provoking album I ever bought. Intelligent, insightful, lyrics paired with incredible riffs and music.
I never knew this. But sorry Definitely maybe has so many tunes that are really cool and always love hearing them more than the overplayed morning glory tunes.
But yes for me Manics are head and shoulders above every other musician/band
I've grown up listening to Manics since I was born (in 1994 so I never saw them at their peak but my Dad has always loved them) and I've seen them live twice in Wolverhampton in 2011 and 2013, yet every time I listen to them they get better and better. I've never known a band to command such passion and fury so articulately. They are fucking heroes.
Best album ever.
My buddy Vic studied Political Science at Swansea University at the same time as Richey. Vic took his own life about 20 years ago.
2:47 - the angriest "Sha-na-na" you ever heard.
sha na na I'm crying 😂
This makes me happy.
Vladimir Lenin It’s a great song, even if the Manics thenselves don’t like it lol
My dad is a big fan could he have your autograph sir
@@ichbintal536 go to the mausoleum in Moscow, Lenin's been receiving visitors there for about 100 years
@Evil Frasier nah chillin in the mausoleum lad
@@this_is_ally_blyat Im always a sleep when it’s open.
Ohh, Nicky and Richey, total Welsh gorgeousness!
Can't get cooler than this!
Great tune. Especially love the Mary Portas look that Nicky is sporting in this vid.
Amazing welsh band. We love you
They know.
Richey is a fucking hero this is pure class Alan Collins
I love Richey forever!!!
The first verse is practically a soundtrack to my AS History!
The Holy Bible - best album from Manics !!!
AWESOME! Words, guitars, post punk vibes
Richey, what a lad!
James looks so amazing omfg
holy bible is electrifying need to buy this album
I love the fact that The Holy Bible by Manics and Pauls Boutique by The Beastie Boys did badly when released - they are both works of absolute genius - people weren't ready for them
Holy Bible is my favourite MSP album. So raw!
Always loved this..completely mental music and lyrics
It is kind of amazing this album had any radio singles because it is so justifiably Angry and articulate. That biz would never fly in the U.S. but the 90's were such a special time for being pissed off because the same pre-Internet people were taking notes. Manics were the Keats to Smashing Pumpkins' more digestible Dr. Seuss but the message was the same - if you feel trapped or cut off, Know Your Enemy and shine a light on their misdirection. The Ramones' Censorshit was another fine example.
i love manic street preachers revol they preach pop music and gospel
Manics are the fucking lords of the mann! Lights years away from all other bands around!
I love Revol. Never understood why the band themselves don't like it anymore.
sexypara they played it love few years ago and it was immense, one of the best live songs
@IceCat7 I'll take pompus lefty bullshit over right wing idiot pricks any time.
Stewart Taggart yes
Think it's to painful richy was a basket case making it , I seen them at Newcastle on the Holly bible tour poor lad was all over, then he went missing weeks later, terrible mis him, xx
Granto 67 No it’s not that, as they love the album and still play Faster live. They’ve since released Journal for Plague Lovers. They actually take the piss out of how bad they think Revol is. At least they put it on National Treasures.
☀️Simply brilliant 🌟
Maybe my favourite music video ever
Guitars are good on this track. It's got some great riffs.
Great band great song!
my fave manics video
You're a big fan i notice !
Thank you Manics.
blistering track
The first verse seems to be about the development and then failure of a person, the second verse about the start and end of a romantic relationship. The Fascist chorus part also seems like a journey from start to ending in failure too.
@Shah Tafiq it's specifically invoking fascist sloganeering as parody and warning
@Shah Tafiq are you ok
@Shah Tafiq Ok but I don't get your obsession with communism when no one mentioned it but you
I see this at first time now:),fucking awesome, really, and James voice is so cute!!!
What a band ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I dont think nobody can compare
Excellent!
l love manics.
LOVER
Proper music miss you Richie
perfect
I can't imagine Liam Gallagher singing "Lebensraum, Kulturkampf"!!
This song pretty much informed my reading during my twenties.
Masterpiece. 😌
Revol Revol xxxx Revol Revol - Lebensraum Kulturkampf raus raus fila fila! I love you all MSP! Damn!
Yeah!
god where are a band 1/2 as litterate as them now the best we can hope for is some one who's read Jordans latest book !
Super Konzert in Zürich! Doppel Yeah!
Fave msp song
1994 - the Manics on the top of their game: great songs, everyone looking beautiful and of course highly questionable lyrics !
You should be able to go to college and do a degree on this album!
Actually, no! At most, a seminar.
Revol / Lover
As a 'Trotskyist' (for what little that term might be worth in 2022, 30+ years after the collapse of the USSR....), I do think the line "Trotsky: honeymoon...." is quite funny.
What a stonking band!
Tune!
stop me if you don't think this is the best protest song ever
Today on twitter...nicky wire..."still trying to understand the lyrics 18 years on"!!!!
18 years on? try 24.
Did you read when the comment was posted?
@@mojopin70 24 years on? try 27
29 years on ... a few understand 😢
lebensraum kulturkampf .. history recycling ♻️ itself on a wider scale , 'decarbonisation-net zero' are the new terms for what we went through before 😢
raus raus fila fila ..many blindly did the past 2 n a bit years 😢
RIP Gorbachev
Oui, certainement. Qui va le faire, et quand?
From Primo Levi´s book...Italian-Jewish concentration camp survivor..his book "If this is a man" is a must-read..
A book so painful when read in Braille, your fingers bleed.
I agree, it is a seminal work of one man’s experience of the deepest depth of depravity perhaps in all of recorded history.
Ehm. *hero
Roll on the 27th can’t wait in Birmingham
This is yesterday
0:10 Liitle boy lost
At the very end of the song (@ around 2:49), he says something before Revol. Does anyone know? thanks!
😇
says 'so let them revol' as in revolution
I dare someone to do that. Call all their essays after the songs. See if anyone notices.
FILA FILA means RUN, RUN
What a song. Revol, a call for action, a paean for a lost partner. An angry scream into the black cavern, the last days of all the hell, war, famine and political upheaval of the 20th century……..Raus, raus, fila, fila; out, out, run run.
@savagedetecitve sha-na-na
Fila Fila is Italian. The other three words (Lebensraum, Kulturkampf, Raus) are German
Or it could be Spanish? In both languages I think it means queue/line, or possibly "line up"? I've never actually been able to work it out, in this context :-/
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwoooooooooooooooow
Rous rous fila fila?
Raus raus
I thought that this song is about group sex in the cremelin ( sorry cant spell ) at least that's what nicky told me :-)
Mathew Llewellyn Kremlin* if you are referring to Moscow administrative district
i think its 'suffer the grateful' could be wrong :)
Che Guevara we are all target now!!
this song is from 1994
just now why
@ originsssunknown:
You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.
F@ck@n Ace song !!
are this band trotskyist?
revol revol ! but we have wikipedia now. They sing about everithing but nothing to concessive. All mainstream rock that is published is censored.Still Holy Bible album is great to lesson
revol backwards lover
Which language is this?
Welsh 🐑
english but the band are from wales
Nicky wire , sexy sexy ...
sounds like Kaiser Chiefs- Modern Way at the beginning
I’d heard they’d kind of disowned this tune ....strange
Convincing troll, 2.476353/11.3 stars, but +1 for the effort. I particularly liked the subtle hint of arrogance in the ellipsis.
Ptff... wake up. 'Fila' is an Italian word, not German.
Maybe as a reference to Mussolini and Italian fascism?
Not the best on this album (imho) but a killer tune and amazing set of lyrics. Just goes to show the standard set by The Holy Bible
If Richey was with them, they might not have gone to Cuba. What kind of people have been targeting Russia since the time of Napoleon?
Nah, don't forget that Richey was a Marxist
I suppose it’s not surprising that angry working-class youth would be influenced by Marxism, but was Richey really that naive? And I don’t think they could have played this song in front of Castro.
This is definitely one of the greatest albums ever, but the band aren't the greatest (in my opinion). They are too inconsistent.
Musically, this is a great song. Lyrically, complete fucking nonsense. What's wrong with songs meaning things?
Nothing. Richey wrote plenty of songs that did make sense. This was more of a stream of consciousness yell at and about nothing in particular.
Applemask
Yeah, that's true. A song here and there in that style is well within acceptability. I'm just an asshole.
I don't agree that it's complete nonsense; it's reducing famous historical figures down to the most basic (trashy) human levels .. deconstructing icons and doing it very eloquently, reminding us that they were just very flawed human beings, like everyone else.
REVOL/LOVER (this should be the right name of the song) x
Richey's comments on this were : "Revol/Lover - All adolescent leaders of men FAILED. All love FAILS. If men of the calibre of Lenin and Trotsky failed, then how can anyone expect anything to change? Won't get fooled again."
