how i miss this fucking amazing young energy, lovely post punk spirit, many young bands of today should take a look to this amazing early performances full of chaos, it's a shame that this band doesn't exist anymore, glory to the great richey wherever he is.
it was hard to decide on my greatest ever gig after seeing great bands at their height including g'n'r ramones terrorvision slf uk subs the cult etc,but i have to say when i went to watch the manics when they were unknown, sharing a dance floor with them at leicester university, has to be the greatest night of my life, the energy and sound were off the scale!
mark jones Hi, they came to our college in Salisbury and at the end of the gig, I sat next to Richey and Nicky in the refectory. There was a group of us and they just chatted away. It really made my night. Their first tour was immense and I'm so please to have met Richey and the rest of the group.
the vigour bradfield puts into smashing the guitar at the end of this video is a credit to rock n roll. i always wanted to ask him if he got a guitar smashing budget from his record company...like he can break 3 les pauls per calander year then he has to pay for his own after that?
That looks like Richey's thinline Tele, which, if it is, has been repaired and is still in use today. EDIT: Thinline is on a stand in the background - obviously some method in the madness, although James can be seen at one point writing around on top of the white Les Paul.
secallen Don't think it's the Thinline, the smashed guitar has a black pickguard. Pretty sure Ritchie was using a single-coil Tele with a black pickguard as well as the Thinline, at some point.
Richey's standard Tele was all black. This looks like a natural-finish one - I reckon it was just a backup, something they knew they could smash. James has kept his main Les Paul forever, there's a video somewhere where he says the headstock's been repaired 3 times.
OMG- where did all this come from- some of it has got to be going on for 30 yrs old. LUSH. Rough n raw. Just as I liked them. Only down side I am 30 yrs older too aargh. Saw them first by accident in 1989. JDB & Richie looking seriously f******g steaming hot, need to go and cool off
I wish I could've seen them live when Richey was still around, but in any case, what I did hear on the Send Away The Tigers tour a couple of years back was enough to last me a lifetime (well, actually, I do want another fix but hey, I've got an addictive nature)...
@museandmanicsfan All this means is their 2000's music was more popular. Im in to punk so I find their older stuff much more appealing, its faster its rawer and the lyrics are much deeper and meaningful
@kontraky Agree, son una de las mejores bandas que han existido y tienen las mejores letras. Como todos, han tenido sus altas y bajas, pero al final el balance es genial. Làstima que Richey haya desaparecido.
i love this song!! and im a death metal fan lol, i wouldnt say i dont like the mcp but i wouldnt listen to any other song except this one...deserves more views!
The song was originally slated for the shit Stallone movie Judge Dredd, but Richey's disappearance stalled it. The Cure eventually stepped in with Dredd Song. This is why this was never a Manics single. If you ask me, they missed a trick not including it on the recent excellent adaptation of Dredd
I kinda glad that MSP provoke polar opinion..... I think most MSP fans ( esp pre Everything must.... Ones) have a higher intelligence level than other bands fans.... I mean Gallagers claiming to have never read a book voluntarily ..... Idiots and the idiot savants.... JUDGE YR'SELF......
+Steven Stratton it's kind of a bummer that noel Gallagher almost single handedly resurrected guitar music in the early 90's but Bradfield is the best craftsman of a song to come from the u.k. in the last 30 years, and there have been some good ones. Bellamy, Yorke, Cocker.................Martin. haha .
have to be honest when judge yourself, the earlier you start the better , and not listen to users that would grind you down to ensure they fill their pots
Perhaps the most underrated Manics song. ❤

Carlos Rodriguez Doesnt exist anymore? Pretty sure they do m8, minus a Legend ofc :/
for me is not the same without richey
Carlos Rodriguez I know the feeling m8 :(
Most of the sound comes from JDB. Richey didnt play guitar on the records. James is an incredibly talented guitarist and singer
i know the history, James was the sound of the band but Richey was the attitude and the genius behind mostly of lyric stuff...

The best Manic's song ever, love the clips of Traci Lords in her Leopard skin!
Why they bother with her, little baby nothing?
@@pearlsforheroes1639 It was originally supposed to be a duet with Kylie Minogue, no?
@@pearlsforheroes1639 she could sing lol so why not
1:35 James' face is hilarious!!!!
They are the best!!
Thanks for uploading - I just love this old footage of my favourite band of all time.
James smashing his guitar up at the end, think I've died and gone to heaven! 😊
Oh yay

Little starry synths in the right side of the stereo @ 2.29.. Never noticed that before.

I really love Richey shame I only knew who he was went missing I'm since their biggest fan planning to get a manics tattoo xx
Nikki Mc What tattoo are you getting. I've been toying with some of Richey's lyrics...
the pixies on an advert for thompson fucking holidays or whatever before a manics video..now there's a fucking irony...
Thé best song
This song is incredibly underrated. (Video needs more Richey 😂)
I fucking love it when he screams like that
@museandmanicsfan All this means is their 2000's music was more popular. Im in to punk so I find their older stuff much more appealing, its faster its rawer and the lyrics are much deeper and meaningful
It was 3 o' clock in the morning first time i've heard this song, I wrote the name of band and went to sleep...
@kontraky Agree, son una de las mejores bandas que han existido y tienen las mejores letras. Como todos, han tenido sus altas y bajas, pero al final el balance es genial. Làstima que Richey haya desaparecido.
Is that richey at the end breaking the guitar ??
No, judging by the abs and white jeans, it's James.
i love this song!! and im a death metal fan lol, i wouldnt say i dont like the mcp but i wouldnt listen to any other song except this one...deserves more views!
Richey boy!!
For me, the Manics best song
Loved James voice pre 1999
The song was originally slated for the shit Stallone movie Judge Dredd, but Richey's disappearance stalled it. The Cure eventually stepped in with Dredd Song. This is why this was never a Manics single. If you ask me, they missed a trick not including it on the recent excellent adaptation of Dredd
Perfect post-punk song. It sounds like Nirvana.
i find some lyrical similarities with "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter" . The line "Speak the truth" appears in both songs.
Como se dice letras in Inglais?
This song is fucking banging x
25 years since '4 REAL'
Scott McKie 4 real was in May 1991, pal

Traci Lords at 2:22.
I always thought they sang "KILL YRSELF, HURT YRSELF, JUDGE YRSELF" but apparently it heal instead of kill lol
Blackwoods finest
Bradfield's voice.

What ad exec thought someone who's watching an MSP video would be remotely interested in seeing Burlesque?
This was made for the judge dredd film starring sylvestor stallone
too bad
рыдаю
Richey must be alive
No Its James......
This wasn't on Generation Terrorists or Gold Against The Soul.
Nope. Recorded circa end of 94 for release in 95 sometime (for the Judge Dredd film) but as Richey went missing, never released

maybe i'm getting too old but these people on current ad's don't occupy my world so don't bother me.just don't get all this pop star bashing
Anybody else noticed some Nirvana influence in this track?
Where is Nicki Minaj?
Richey had fucking awful teeth, haha. It's like finding a big beetle in a flower when he smiles.
His teeth only got worse in 94 when he was smoking loads and puking up his food deliberately
