Would you also be able to share your EQ settings? Would love to try out the settings you are using.
The higher frequency response and overall higher quality sound really makes the difference on the Virtuoso XT for me. 24 bit 48000 kHz wireless and 24 bit 96000 kHz wired is night and day compared to what the Steelseries is capable of.
Hey techne, will we be seeing a comparison to the Hyperx Cloud Alpha or Cloud II, Razer Blackshark V2 Pro, Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max? I'm so torn on all these headsets and do not know what to get. I only have a Ps5 at the moment and need a wireless set up. Or what would you recommend between all of these options?
Good videos, but if you can cover a few things that would be great. Like, does your nova pro wireless seems like its not that loud, and can you cover the sonar technology makes the headset sound then other headsets. I don't think you said if it sounds better then other headsets with sonar enabled in your videos. Thanks
Got the Virtuoso XT 2 weeks before Steel Series dropped this headset… my Arctis Pro Wireless broke down on me after 4 years of use and they were outta stock so I couldn’t buy another. Decided to try something else. Quickly realized it’s definitely a PC headset not for console use unless you plug it in. It works well though, and I got a full head of hair but can still feel it pressing down on top of my head. I wish Arctis came out with this new headset like 3 weeks ago before I bought the Corsair ones 🥺
@Beej I feel the same here. Purchased mine just about the same time after months of waiting. I have to return Corsair, because the mic does not work at all in wireless/bluetooth mode. I was hoping I wouldn't have to deal with this. Very annoyed, so I will have to just bite the bullet and get this nova and pray it doesn't break like your pro wireless ones did after 4 years. May I ask did your Arctic Pros break down on the plastic points by the earpads or somewhere else. If you were going to get the Novas now would you be concerned if they would last as long as the previous model?
@@aktn_p1kaso830 Yes there broke right where the ear cups connect to the headband. However it was my own fault, set them down came back and nudged my automatic recliner and they were in just the right position to get caught. My own fault for not paying attention but yeah i'm not worried. As long as you don't throw them around or just be genuinely rough with them they're not gonna break. Very good headsets in my opinion.
Yeah the virtuoso has great build quality but I couldn't use it wireless with my 2 pc audio setup and plus they weren't as loud compared to my headphones rn so I returned them
I have the virtuoso and yeah the headband causes me pain (not bald). I did get the wicked cushion replacement and the headband pain got worse. The thicker earpads makes them lose clamping force which results in more weight at the top of your head.
Hey Techne! Been watching the whole extravaganza. Love these in depth videos! I was wondering if there is a difference in sound quality from using the Nova Pro Wireless with its 3.5mm Jack (aka wired mode) and the Nova Pro Wired. You mentioned that the high res sound of the wired version is super good, and I’m wondering if that sound is achievable at all on the wireless version (even if ur using it wired)
@@samledger9599 that makes sense, it looks like you can buy the game dac separately for $130. Pretty expensive but might be nice if it works with the wireless version

Compare them against "Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal" gaming wireless headset, apperently same danish designer, Jakob Wagner helped SteelSeries make the design of this headset. That's why they are so alike!
As usual a great review. I went with the Virtuoso’s after your initial review of them. I need a well built headset after going through 4 turtle beach head sets an Astro headset and an HC Gamer life headset. They all lasted about 1.5 years each before breaking completely down. Hoping these last a bit longer than the previous sets. I use them on my Xbox Series X with the Dolby Atmos app for the EQ. Not sure why you said they can’t be used with Xbox maybe you meant certain features. Any how thanks for the video!
@@slippinjimmy4678 they work on Xbox, the audio will work fine but microphone will not work. As far as I know the microphone will only work if the headset is connected directly to the xbox controller
According to Amazon comments the wire conection make the dolby atmos dissapear so it would be soun worse than bluetooth (that is only available on PC, PS5 and mobile and idk if Switch)
In the sonar, you can change how you sound through the mic. There are profiles. And also on a different video you posted about the novas, you said you wished you could apply noise cancelling through the headset and not the software. If you tap the power button, it toggles the noise cancelling.
Thanks Techne.. I REALLY wanted to get the Nova Pro (wired) as I don't really have the need for BT - HOWEVER my Arctis Pro Wired headset is close to going with two serious cracks appearing on the right ear cup where the head band joins after around 2.5 years of virtually daily use...... after a lot of review watching (mostly yours sir) I have pulled the trigger on the virtuosos.. two main selling points for me being that the Headband to cup design is MUCH sturdier and the fact that they can be used wired either through USB or 3.5mm - sadly the same Cup/headband design is apparent on the Nova Pros so thats my deal breaker - thanks for the great reviews.
FYI : The nova pro wireless run at 24bit 48000Hz 2 channel without sonar and 16bit 48000Hz 8 channel with sonar i don't know if it due to the recent firmware update or not tough , but it's clearly recognized as that with every software i use and with windows as well
I've owned two of the earlier pro version of steelseries. Steelseries is a big loser in this comparison simply because the cup breaks off SO EASILY (not sure about this model, but previous models this is a HUGE issue that they almost intentionally keep in there to planned obsolence.) So I'm much more interested in the Corsair Virtuoso over the SteelSeries Arctics Nova Pro Wireless... It's a shame too because of Steelseries simply fixed their cups breaking off (maybe reinforce those areas with metal guys, seriously) I would have totally been a diehard fan.
I like how you said the virtuoso xt doesn’t work with Xbox, on your first videos you said it works perfectly and because of that I brought it, and I still love this headset but it has issues on Xbox, it has a lot of echo in a chat party. But I think I might just switch to pc, Xbox is limited to accessories and that drives me nuts, Microsoft made it harder and harder to get the accessories I want.
My Arctis Pro hinges and cups have completely disintegrated over the years...Looking at the Nova's with a "slightly sturdier" (with plastic) hinges... I'm not confident getting it. I'm hoping a virtuoso would be a good replacement.
Having tested the virtuoso, they get really warm on the ears with that plush leather. With a replacement earmuffs you can fix that but I still think having a dial on the Nova pros to change between Game volume and voice volume is a great selling point. Might have to return this pair and get some steel series
Techne really milking the new Nova headset and he's killing it!! Thank you always for the in-depth review and consumer POV. How do they compare with other high-end wired options like the H6 pro, PC38x, or like the wireless H3 Pro Hybrid?

Got xt about a week before nova dropped, but it wouldn't have stopped my decision anyways since a play predominantly on PC. Plus I don't like hot the nova looks lol I liked the arctis look better imo
All the videos I watch with the arctis nova pro wireless everyone says they’re great but when going to Reddit asking for further opinions people say they’re not as great.
its so weird because i have the nova pro wireless but when i record game clips or hear myself in general in a party or discord call it sounds clear as day and nothing like the mic test in these videos
For anyone still debating between the two,let me maybe help. This is a PC comparison btw, have not used on console. I had both. A month ago I bought the virtuoso. And It was a toss up between these exact two headsets. Mind you I came from the logi g pro x wireless. (Wanted bt functionality) out of the box Immediately noticed worse sound quality than my Logitech’s. Watched a few reviews/tunes for it and got it as good as it could possibly get, which was better, but bass was extremely extremely weak, and very muddy sounding when there was bass. So anyone who has that opinion, it’s true. The mids and highs were great after fine tuning! But the bass was extremely disappointing. The build quality is phenomenal. And yes heavier, but was still comfy. Battery life was not great. But if you plug it in after each gaming session no worries. Also, the bt functionality was a tad better as well. Being able to control the volumes independently right from the headset. I returned these less than a week later after seeing my local bb had the novas in stock. And it was well worth it. Build quality. good, for what it is. Yes the Corsair is built like a tank but with previous steel series experiences I’m sure they’ll hold up. Sound. Better, in almost every single way. The mids might have been better with the virtuoso but that’s about all I can say about it. Bass is better. Clarity is better. And after doing some tuning through sonar, there amazing. Leaps ahead of Corsair. 2 batteries. And having one always charged is a major plus. Mic is better with the Corsair, obviously. But I use an external mic so not a game changer. ANC works, but isn’t the greatest. Out of 10 I’ll give it a 6, it works, but it isn’t perfect. And that leads me to the nubs inside the head set. Yes, you may feel them occasionally like techne said, if the headset moves around etc. but they honestly haven’t bothered me. They’re a very comfy/light head set. Overall just better. And worth the money imo.
So hard to decide... but this sounds convincing. I have an Arctis 7 now, and feel like it's time for an upgrade. I love everything about this headset, but for occasional music on PC it's really poor, and in general, bass feels quite lacking/distorted. I think I'd love the extra features for Nova as well, but what I'm really looking for is an upgrade in audio quality.
1: Do all the settings of the Virtuoso XT save to the dongle instead of the headset when used on PS5/Xbox Series X? 2: Do all the settings save to the Virtuoso XT when you use them wired? 3: Does the Virtuoso XT headset have ANC when used wired or wireless? 4L Does Dolby Atmos work on PS5 and if not, can it use PS5's 3D audio instead? 5: Does the Virtuoso work on Xbox Series X with the 3.5mm cable instead of the dongle? Given the fact that they use Dolby Atmos, you'd think that they would work on Xbox Series X wireless ánd wired.
I've had the virtuoso SE for almost 3 years. Great stinking headset and im thinking of upgrading, so far the virtuoso xt is looking veeery nice. Thanks for the input. Also the mic on steelseries is garbage compared to corsair.
Hey what about noise in the room and does it go into the mic ?? I bought some arctic pro and everyone can hear everything in my house when I’m on PS4 so I just ordered the novas … getting rid of the others I’m thinking noise canceling will do it but I dunno for that price it’s crazy the noise my gaming squads hear from me

Hey guys, if any of you guys decided to go for the virtuoso XT with the wicked ear pads can you please tell me if the ear pards are wide enough for your ear to fit in or do you feel them touch your ear ?
A year later and you might have gotten both the headset and the wc. Sharing my experience just in case: with the wc on the comfort/space/sound makes it hit the 10 for me. And also the pain on top of my head because of the weight lessened.
@@Lykkeliten2011 Hey, thanks for replying a year later hahaha. I did end up buying the corsair virtuoso XT and the Wicked ear pads for them. Unfortunately for me the Wicked Ear Pads made the headset tighter which in return made it uncomfortable to use them, no worries though if you are not satisfied with the product you get a full refund so I highly recommend the company. Now for the headset it self the microphone on it is the best I have ever had. Unfortunately for me the weight of the headset bothers me too much to use it after a long period of time so I only use the headset for the microphone. And use a professional over the ear open back studio headphones and once you do you cannot go back.
Appreciate the comparisons Techne. Depending on your set up, isn’t the Nova Pro kind of a hassle to go between console and PC? Like if your consoles are farther away from your PC, like in an entertainment center? I would think the XT would be better since you just move the dongle.
The Nova’s with WC EarPads are giving me major headaches after longer than 30mins. Idk if it’s the shape of my head, or it just happens to clamp on the pressure points on me or what. But I haven’t seen anybody say it’s doing it to them
How do they compare if i want to use them for my phone as well as PC. Corsair I'm considering but I do want to use these on my phone to listen to music too and if I'm on the go gaming. They're also on sale rn so im considering corsair and I like the RGB but i love the battery life and EQ for the Steel series its hard to say right now
Great review. Wanted to add something about Bluetooth pairing since I've got both at my house now and deciding which to keep. I can pair both my iPhone and android to both headsets. But only on the xt can I listen to music from both at the same time or individually. On the novas I can only take phone calls on both. If I want to listen to UA-cam or music I have to repair the device I want to listen to back to the headset. Kind of a bummer because sometimes you want to listen to one thing on one phone and your too lazy to go get your other phone. Also I was never able to get the xts to sound anything better than a tin can sound. On bass heavy movies or music I felt a phase shift on the low end. Kind of like a blub blub sound. Where one side would sound then the other side would sound and go back and forth. I did return my first pair and the 2nd pair does the same. Notable at the end of the Dolby atmos demo video right after the last big Dolby atmos logo. There is a big bass rumble and the xts just couldn't handle it. The novas do better but still not as good as my cheap logitech ones. Bluetooth audio also sounds miles better on the novas. You can actually dance to the music without the headsets falling off unlike the xts. The wireless range is so much better on the novas. The nub thing in their earpiece can be felt. Hoping wicked cushions come out with a slightly deeper cushion. I'm keeping the novas but I'm seriously thinking of just buying another cheap logitech 900s model. But I like my Bluetooth.
Something every review leaves out is a wireless range, personally, I came from the Arctis Pro Wireless(OLD) to the Corsair Virtuoso and the range on the Corsairs sucks unless I use it with Bluetooth to my phone, just recently returned the corsairs and Got the Nova's just waiting on them to show up hoping like hell the range is better like the old Pro Wireless. My favorite part about a wireless headset being able to leave my room and still chat with the boys on discord. The Arctis Pros only ever had disconnects around my Stainless Steel fridge nicknames the EMP. Meanwhile the Corsair Virtuoso XT's would disconnect shortly after leaving my bedroom. Also my house is only 1800sqft 1 story so.
Love how you're taking time to do the reviews with these steelseries... after the penrose x... no wireless headphones have come close to it... sound wise that is... but I did end up getting up a pair of lcd gx... now I gotta set up my ifi zen and dac... soooo my gaming experience should be phenomenal...

Haven't tried the Steel series, but as a fellow bald PC only gamer I can confirm that this is all the truth in regards to the Virtuoso XTs. They're amazing in both sound and build quality. And yes, as a bald guy, I can feel them on the top of my head as Techne mentioned. It's not uncomfortable though and once you're gaming you don't even notice it. My cooling gel WIcked Cushions are out for delivery too so can't wait to get those bad boys on there since the the stock ear pads are definitely the worst part about them.

Love the video series! In once your videos would you be able to show the Arctis Nova Pro with some wicked cushions on them and let us know your thoughts regarding comfort and sound quality compared to the included leatherette earpads?
Would you also be able to share your EQ settings? Would love to try out the settings you are using.
The higher frequency response and overall higher quality sound really makes the difference on the Virtuoso XT for me. 24 bit 48000 kHz wireless and 24 bit 96000 kHz wired is night and day compared to what the Steelseries is capable of.
Lie bro
Hey techne, will we be seeing a comparison to the Hyperx Cloud Alpha or Cloud II, Razer Blackshark V2 Pro, Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max? I'm so torn on all these headsets and do not know what to get. I only have a Ps5 at the moment and need a wireless set up. Or what would you recommend between all of these options?
Steelseries nova pro he will recommend I guarantee it
Good videos, but if you can cover a few things that would be great.
Same here but only for the regular Virtuoso. The XT has the updated headband pads and reviews said it's much better than the regular Virtuoso.
That mic comparison was very telling, thanks. the SteelSeries mic is like something in a kids toy.
using the SONAR program. You can make them sound better than the Virtuoso headset.
You should compare the XTs to the nova 7x!
I need the same
Following
The wireless one don’t come with a dac it’s just a base station so no it won’t unless u get the dac
@@samledger9599 that makes sense, it looks like you can buy the game dac separately for $130. Pretty expensive but might be nice if it works with the wireless version
@@andrewb1230 I bought the nova wired ones for £250 then saw the artics pro with game dac on offer for £159 so I got them don’t no wish to send back lol
Any how thanks for the video!
im rocking with the normal Virtuoso for a year and 5 months now ..... good as new
wait do the virtuosos work with Xbox now???
Great video again what EQ set up did you run on steel series
I've owned multiple iterations and have had no issues.
i have wireless steelseries headsets since the siberia and never ever did a cup break off this looks like a you problem not a steelseries problem…
I much prefer the original Pro wireless over the nova revision. The nova is definitely a huge downgrad 💯
What are the noticable cons
Having tested the virtuoso, they get really warm on the ears with that plush leather. With a replacement earmuffs you can fix that but I still think having a dial on the Nova pros to change between Game volume and voice volume is a great selling point. Might have to return this pair and get some steel series
ummm.. You can totally do the same on the Virtuoso XT's also 😏 just saying
Techne really milking the new Nova headset and he's killing it!! Thank you always for the in-depth review and consumer POV. How do they compare with other high-end wired options like the H6 pro, PC38x, or like the wireless H3 Pro Hybrid?
He does it with almost every headset. You must be new here.
@@captainobvious1252 really? He made only one video about turtle beach stealth 700 gen2 max…you must be new here or don’t even watch all his videos.
@@captainobvious1252 I can keep adding headsets he talked once about but since your new here I’ll welcome you to the channel but it probably doesn’t matter since you don’t watch it new guy

Love the comparison! I totally agree with your conclusion about the virtuoso XT. I have them and I play mainly on PC and love it, but I do use them at times for the PS4 and they're just...Ok. Keep up the good work sir!
Hey bro, i was wondering if it's possible to listen 2 sources of audio at the same time? 3.5 jack/usb or Bluetooth/USB dongle?
@@MasterOfZombies115 There is. I've had the headset plugged into the PC via USB power cord and then Bluetooth connected to my phone. I haven't tried the 3.5 connection yet with Bluetooth for another source.
@@JusLivnTheDr3am Hmmm interesting, can you change the volume of the pc/bluetooth with the headsets?
@@MasterOfZombies115 headset will control the PC volume, then for the Bluetooth source (ie: phone) you would have to adjust the volume on the phone. So both sounds would come through the headset but only the PC sound can be adjusted on the headset
What do you mean with just ok for ps4? , I want them for ps5, mainly warzone footsteps are important
Those Wicked cushions look nice, but as far as they sit away from drivers it seems like you really mess with the sound profile?
Do you hear any difference with Dolby Atmos on the Corsair headset? Does it improve the sound quality?
Still havne't switched off the Astros in years. Is it worth a shot?
Techne can you do SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless vs Hyperx Cloud Alpha wireless!
What about a video about the Asus Rog Delta ? here in French countries i heard a lot about this one (wired though), i want to have your point of view ;)
@Techne whats your top 5 wired headset atm🤔
Got xt about a week before nova dropped, but it wouldn't have stopped my decision anyways since a play predominantly on PC. Plus I don't like hot the nova looks lol I liked the arctis look better imo
I cant imagine you finishing this extravaganza w/o a nova pro to arctis pro comparison...
I can't imagine this extravaganza ending. But all good things must come to an end I suppose
Pretty sure that tomorrow
All the videos I watch with the arctis nova pro wireless everyone says they’re great but when going to Reddit asking for further opinions people say they’re not as great.
Hey I know this is old, but do you know the reason why wicked cusions dont work on nova pro wireless, been wanting to get some.
its so weird because i have the nova pro wireless but when i record game clips or hear myself in general in a party or discord call it sounds clear as day and nothing like the mic test in these videos
I bought some arctic pro and everyone can hear everything in my house when I’m on PS4 so I just ordered the novas … getting rid of the others I’m thinking noise canceling will do it but I dunno for that price it’s crazy the noise my gaming squads hear from me
Hey do you have a top 5 wireless AND Bluetooth headsets list? I want a wireless non Bluetooth headset for my pc but I wanna be able to Bluetooth Connect it to my MacBook Air for movies and studying
Greetings!
Would be neat if you compared these to the regular SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless also :)
The pros are better than the nova
@@leonprez231 I got the nova pro wired for £250 but i got the artic pro with dac on offer for £159 I don’t no wish to send back what do u think

Tbh, you can find the Virtuosos XT for $220-$250 these days. The Novas are new but tbh, they aren’t $100+ better
Appreciate the comparisons Techne. Depending on your set up, isn’t the Nova Pro kind of a hassle to go between console and PC? Like if your consoles are farther away from your PC, like in an entertainment center? I would think the XT would be better since you just move the dongle.
Not techne, but it depends on your set up. I have the wired version and just unplug them from the DAC into the controller I'm using.
@@neoneo3067 thank you for the info, will buy it
You gotta do your comparisons with both of the headsets stock
And one vs razer BlackShark V2 Pro. Would you put the nova wired in a top 3 or 5
Nova wired for £250 or artic pro with game dac £159 what would u go for
Is it true the 40,000hz on the Corsairs is only if you have them plugged in and its like 20,000hz wireless?
The Nova’s with WC EarPads are giving me major headaches after longer than 30mins. Idk if it’s the shape of my head, or it just happens to clamp on the pressure points on me or what. But I haven’t seen anybody say it’s doing it to them
I go wired for everything nowadays only because long term battery starts to go quickly and soon it will only work plugged in.
What the point on doing such s deep dive in this headset?
i have the corsair xt. love it for sure! but miss the comfort of steelseries and jbl's
My Corsair looses sound every couple minutes. I’m highly disappointed
I use dolby atmos for headphones on Series X. Does the Steelseries Nova's dac override that? Thinking of getting the Nova wired version.
It be a good replacement for my blackshark
Does the steel series have Bluetooth 5.0? How many bluetooth sources can be connected at once?
But is the steelseries gonna snap off in two?
You can use the XT on Xbox with the 3.5mm headphone jack. And if you have Atmos on Xbox you can also tune the eq as well no?
Did u find out???
Can you do Logitech Pro x wireless vs steelseries nova pro wireless
hey can you leave a link for the cushions for the virtuso xt
Love how you're taking time to do the reviews with these steelseries... after the penrose x... no wireless headphones have come close to it... sound wise that is... but I did end up getting up a pair of lcd gx... now I gotta set up my ifi zen and dac... soooo my gaming experience should be phenomenal...

The Microphone for the Corsair sounds much better, jeez!!! Hey you only talked about how it sounds on PC, what about how it sounds on Bluetooth???
really want to get the virtuoso xt due to dual connectivity that work simultaneously with separate vol adjustment but cant find it on the market and left me no choice with nova pro crappy mic
my nova pros are wired so they are 100% neck and neck with sound and the mic quality is slightly different maybe because its wired compared to your comparison
I would like a compare from the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro with the new Razer Barracuda (Pro)
Nova pro easily
Why can’t you use the course you’re on Xbox, doesn’t have a auxiliary plug?
Can you compare them to the turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2???
Wanted to replace my arctis 7 for nova pro wireless but seems like any headset on the market are better than them according to thetechne
the virtuosos are so good, you can hear bad mics. i thought the headset was messed up, but it was the actual source mic that was being blown out. you never woulda heard it. seriously. i have both and the steelseries woulda just blown out the bass.
