How do Microsoft use Copilot in Microsoft Teams Meetings

- Microsoft Copilot is an incredibly exciting product which has launched today (1st November) and will revolutionise the way you work.
There's so much across all the products so I'll show you how I use Microsoft Copilot as a Microsoft employee to summarise my meetings and help me with my Microsoft Teams meeting follow ups.
The experience here I believe is very much predicated on 1) having Teams Premium as Copilot is already 'baked in' and 2) having the feature administratively configured for deployment across 365 apps/endpoints...which my company, and I'm suspecting many others, have not done yet. I would guess that at some point in the near future it will be fully integrated into at least M365 E5 licensing and perhaps E3
There are some quite important things to note with this demo. This is assuming the user has a Teams Premium licence which is seperate to Copilot AND the meeting has been recorded or transcribed. My question would IF the participants of this meeting had a copilot (assuming M365) can they do all of this WITHOUT a Teams Premium licence? I'm going to guess no. so that's extra cost on top of the $30 AND more cost on storage on the tenant. It's good,. but lots of barriers to get to this way of working
Teams Premium is not required. The meeting needs to be transcribed but not recorded.
Teams premium is not required for any of the functionality in the vid?
@@spudgun79 no. It just happens that I also have Premium. You wouldn’t get the topics, chapters and that chart with the people where you can see who spoke when.
The main video i.e. copilot parts when I’m asking questions is not dependent on Teams Premium.
Hey Stuart, thank you so much for this video! Do you know if there is any demo environment for partners in which I could test the functions with my clients to help them meeting their buying decision?
I wonder if you check it how precise this is. It has an huge potential but if this is not 100% can be catastrophic in important meetings
Copilot uses the transcript and it gives you the portion of the transcript it used to generate the answer. That way you can go back and read and/or listen to the exact recording.
Hey Stuart, great video - question what level of subscription do I need for this I have business basic, thanks
You would need to get the Copilot licence in addition.

Amazing.... loved the video. is there a way for copilot to copy-paste the text output into prexisting word or excel files/templates? Just to make it even more productive and avoid a cumbersome copy-paste process that may not be a single click but several dozen...
Not right now but it is improving all the time.
Not a copilot user yet - but anxious to be!
It'll be worth the wait whenever you get it.
Great video thanks, does CoPilot only work if the meeting is recorded?
It's transcribing that is the key rather than recording. You can use Copilot without transcribing if the meeting is set up to allow this but you can only access it during the meeting and you can't access it afterwards. Info at support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/use-copilot-without-recording-a-teams-meeting-a59cb88c-0f6b-4a20-a47a-3a1c9a818bd9
Stuart, if the transcription retention policy kicks in (say after 30 days), is the notes derived from the Co-Pilot still available? IF so, I suspect it will only be missing the footnotes referencing the transcription?
I believe that any responses that are already saved will still be accessible but you won't be able to query with new questions as the transcription is required.
Great video Stuart, loving Copilot in Teams meetings
Glad you enjoyed it
@ProductivityCoach - wonderful information. Does this work for the Break Out rooms as well. I would love to try to use this for my classrooms. Would this be something you suggest or are there alternatives for a classroom setting? (University level)
In a project management discovery meeting Can co-pilot create project management tasks to be done?
In a project management discovery meeting can copilot create project management tasks
So cool. Can't wait for copilot to be generally available...
It's generally available now for enterprise customers.
I may have missed this during the video but for Copilot to be effective, do you have to use specific prompts during the meeting? For example, "Ok team let's discuss Action Items." Or, "sounds like we need a decision on this topic." Or, is the tool intuitive enough to filter action items or decisions from unprompted conversation?
Not at all. It uses natural language to know what it needs. It’s very good at ignoring the cross talk and the chat. I have known people who treat Copilot like a minutes secretary and say “copilot, record this as an action for Stuart” but it isn’t necessary.
Can the co-pilot send the content proactively to the meeting chair person ? than someone ask for the same. As some times we close it in a hurry and miss the oppurtunity
Can you recommend any training on how to enable/implement CoPilot in Teams? We're E5 licensed but I'm not sure if it's available for us yet.
I’d check here techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-365-copilot/how-to-prepare-for-microsoft-365-copilot/ba-p/3851566 which helps you to prepare.
Copilot is additional license to E5.
How reliable is the information going to be that Copilot generates? Will it hallucinate information like ChatGPT does? I am not saying we are lazy, but sometimes we miss content during the meeting.
The difference with copilot is that it also uses your organisational data so the results are more applicable to your prompts. Whenever you use copilot you get references of where it has used your organisation data. So if you ask a question of a meeting it will reference the point from the transcript. If you ask in M365 chat it will tell you what the file is where it has taken the answer from.
I can't find the video about using Co-pilot during the meeting? and could Copilot help before the meeting?
Good call. I've got a video coming up about this showing meeting preparation in Outlook and how you can use Copilot during the meeting. Watch this space!
It’s unavailable yet? Bc I didn’t found it when I search in the apps inside the teams
But 90 % of the thr transcript is inaccurate then what ?
How can i get copilot in teams to distinguish the voices of the people sitting around the table, it works out the people who have dialed in but not the people around the table
It’s all to do with the room hardware. See support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/use-microsoft-teams-intelligent-speakers-to-identify-in-room-participants-in-a-meeting-transcription-a075d6c0-30b3-44b9-b218-556a87fadc00
How does it know that someone is upset? Does it understand tone/emotions or looking for keywords?
It's on the words only in the transcript. It is not using tone or emotion. If someone says "This is ridiculous" then it know's they're cross.
Superb productivity sir!
What if the meeting is hybrid, so a few people are in a physical room, others join online. Is there a way to pick up who said what in the room?
Not an expert in this area but the newer meeting room systems have intelligent speakers that do voice recognition. See support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-microsoft-teams-intelligent-speakers-to-identify-in-room-participants-in-a-meeting-transcription-a075d6c0-30b3-44b9-b218-556a87fadc00#:~:text=Only%20people%20who%20are%20in,persons%20in%20the%20email%20invite.
Awesome, Stuart!
Thank you kindly!
Im not able to See Copilot option in Teams, what to do or where to enable the option . pls Help
There is a special enterprise license needed at present. I have added a video about how you can access Copilot for free at ua-cam.com/video/XOIVmWpitxs/v-deo.htmlsi=rDGTCf3z112djoUi
Do you have to record a meeting to use copilot in Teams?
You need to transcribe the meeting, not record. You also need to have a Copilot licence.
Do you need a premium licence for this to work?
Upload more videos related to copilot review/ demo.
They’ll be coming. Subscribe to get notifications when new videos are uploaded.
i got copilot but it doestn show in my teams.
Great, Thank you!
Only for users of premium edition.
You do need a Copilot licence for this functionality.
Of course my company doesn’t have this enabled Always 2+ years behind.
It’s quite new so I would enquire whether that’s something they’re looking at.
@@ProductivityCoach we are in a HIGHLY competitive industry that spends a fortune on R&D, so we have Copilot, but it’s a company Copilot. We use the MSFT technology, but MSFT can’t see what people are using it for. So I am told. The delay is probably related to not using the broader Copilot.
It would be a time saver for sure, but MSFT employees having access to a summary of all meetings would be a disaster. Just a guess though.
