    I hope Katherine don't feel too bad about what the guy said about Americans, I was there in 2009 talking to some locals and they did tell me they didn't like Americans, mainly because what happened in Iraq, Iran and later Afghanistan, some even celebrated after 911, we (the whole western countries) do have very bad reputation in Islamic world, and not even because "Chinese government" told them so, or "they lost their jobs due to the new act".

      cuz in their eyes, what the western world is doing is take business away from them while saying we care about you. The good thing is China itself already has a well big enough market for those lost international businesses, and the rest of China is willing to buy stuff from its own ppl.

      That Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act passed by US Congress came into effect just last month which effectively describes all products from Xinjiang province are produced by forced labour - effectively cutting off a big market, cutting down employment of Uyghurs ironically the US claim it was trying to help.

      @@劉沛-l3l The whole idea is to make China in a bad position. Whether the accusation is true or not, or if the sanction really hurts China and/or Xinjiang is not important.

    • @tubsy101
      @tubsy101 2 роки тому +7

      @@123-h5i5y The act establishes a 'rebuttable presumption' of forced labor, which is slightly more nuanced than you are stating. Basically, goods can be imported from the region if they meet some level of assurance that they weren't produced through forced labor. It puts more bureaucracy into the supply chain in this case. Is the act politically motivated and will it unfairly affect people from the region? Unfortunately, I would have to say yes to both these points. It's a tricky political situation even outside the current tensions between the countries. Once you have established in law the credible evidence of forced labor, politicians in both parties will claim it is establishing an unfair competitive advantage to cotton trade from other countries that have a higher overhead by not using forced labor, thus leading to unethical competitive practices.

    9:36! K, don't say this to W but I can relate to him sitting looking out aimlessly, tired (either from the day or your constant vlog, lol, but that look and chowing down is classic. I nearly shot it laughing but it was not at him, it was just something that reminded me of his resolve. God bless, (I'm not religious, just Americanized).

    • @tweedy4sg
      @tweedy4sg 2 роки тому

      Yes, they're mixed with an extinct Iranic ethnicity, Tocharians, especially those who live in the far west and in oasis cities along the southern rim of the Tarim Basin. Turkic culture being the more dominant one, Turkicised the Tocharians and the mixed descendants. original & unmixed Uyghurs has north Asiatic looks like Mongols and indigenous people of Russia Siberia (Tuvan, Buryatian, Altaian, Sakha, etc.). You can still find them in north of Tarim eg. in Hami, Turpan, Korla,etc.

    • @jacklim5940
      @jacklim5940 2 роки тому +3

      Yes, They are mixture of east Iranian and east Asian ( ancient Uyghurs, Han and Mongolian). Ancient Uyghurs were not Turks, they live together with Turks and speak similar language. Those Uyghurs together with Han Chinese kicked Turks out of China and east Asian. Turks have to move to west and Turkified lot of Caucasians in central and west Asian including Tajik, Persian, Slovik and Greek.
