Seeing as how no one is drag racing an Acadia vs. an Explorer, the way it feels is equally if not more important. The 3.6-liter engine feels every bit as quick in highway passing maneuvers and more refined in general than the Ford's EcoBoost.
I got mid level model in February. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the Acadia drives. Love the new look too. Excellent vehicle, recommend it highly.
Thanks! But I'm back at work and cooking up LOTS of new reviews...Hyundai Santa Fe, Infiniti M56, Ford C-MAX Energi, Ford Explorer Sport, '14 Subaru Forester, Ford Fusion Hybrid, Subaru XV Crosstrek, Ford Focus ST and Volvo S60 just in April.
Solid review Steve! My wife and I love Disney as well and we prefer to drive than fly. I like the overall aesthetics of the Denali trim but where is the smart key? Why didn't GM put it as standard equipment in the Denali trim?
The newly designed Acadia looks much better, it no longer looks like an oversized AMC Pacer. The price is really the only downer. Thanks for your review Steve!
Great review Steve... I have to agree with you on the overall quality of the Acadia but yes the price is creeping up to the "OMG" territory ... on the other hand I do always put into consideration, "you get what you pay for" ... nice job once again
These type of trips are the best test of highway mileage, as after a fill up, you get right back on the freeway, get up to speed, and set the cruise control. No around town dickering to factor in.
Next time, I suggest you take I-88, I-81, I-77, I-26, I-95, I-4. It may be longer, but you'll avoid the traffic from NYC to DC. Also a more scenic drive.
This may be exensive(a Tahoe LTZ is just $6,000 more) but its well worth it. Interior quality looks great. The seats are great and visibility is good. The only flaw is that the rear end still looks old.
Great review as usual and I'd agree with you for sure on the small bin and usb location. They'll probably go to a system much like Cadillac or Chevy where the screen/panel lifts to house the usb. Surprised you only got 20 mpg, then again your right with the size of vehicle and getting that number. Great review, keep em coming.
Great review. Please how well do you think it does front grill level water fording? I encounter such during the rains and my current car fords well through grill level water. I've heard some SUV don't do well.
I've loved the Acadia Denali since it's initial release. I wasn't impressed with the redesign for 2013 as this is a boxy version to me. What I am curious about is how the Mrs. felt when she drove it. Did she feel it was heavy as in weight? Did she feel it was more car like than SUV like? How was the comfort level for her? Thank you if you can provide these answers and if not thank you for the video review!!
We have a 2017 GMC Acadia Denali and recently got involved in an accident. A driver pulled out in front of us so we hit them at 50 mph. Not a single airbag deployed or worked. My wife was hurt badly and if the airbags would have worked, we wouldn’t be in this situation. GMC has serious safety problems and any trust we had in them is completely gone.
You could get this Acadia fully loaded without the Denali trim for around $4000 less. For the price of the Denali, you could get the Buick Enclave. (Check out the review here in Steve's page) For a discount, get the high-sales volume Chevy Traverse. This has been a big winner for GM.
GM hit it out of the Park with this GMC Acadia refresh. Handsome yet elegant looks, good power, well-designed interior, good handling for an SUV, and parts/repair costs that won't have your Wife searching for a divorce attorney like a BMW or Mercedes would lol
Yea I know that, just would of thought all the highway driving you would of gotten closer to the highway number. Either way you look at it that's decent mpg considering the size of this rig. Wish GM had an in-between for the Acadia and Terrain.
Bought a 20,000 mile acadia 2013 in 2015. So far ive replaced awd differential clutch 1500 alternator 1000 headlight 300 each side hard to reach not an at home job. Suspension parts passenger strut 1000 A frame 700 and both side bushings 700 window motor 200 brake booster 400 water pump 500 then lately a misfire dealership sais new spark plugs 1 ignition coil and throttle cleaning 1300 did it myself 250 paid an independant 250 for carbon cleaning the engine still misfires with a blinking check engine light. Hopefully i can trade it in soon I have a really rough idle and at highway speeds I have a noise and vibration on the passenger side sounds like im driving on speed strips i change the oil every 3000 miles because the well known timing chain issues and changed transmission fluid at 45,000 transmission shifts crazy hard and has problems accelerating consistent with torque converter issues expensive repair overall falling apart from top to bottom ive tried my best to take care of it and drive responsibly my 3 yr old daughter cried last time we test drove a vehicle she loves her acadia but i starting to spend too much time paying my mechanic
So entertaining! Big thanks to you and your family. Also this machine is nothing but the best. However....it costs a little more than I expected, $51 grand? I thought it'd be 42-44 grand mostly.
Billy Sou not sure where you find that $4000 less acadia fully loaded as this 51k denali. Checking on gmc.com to get similar equipped acadia as denali, we need the slt-2 with the technoly package, heated and cooled seat & color touch navigation/rear entertainment which go up to $50k. So for $1k more you still get the denali detail.
This guy. I love my new Acadia, and I think the price point is spot on compared with other luxury crossovers. If you think the Acadia is pricey, check out the new grand cherokees or audi q7s.
Don't get me wrong...I'm GLAD GMC provided a top-of-the-line Acadia Denali for us. Who wouldn't want more comfort? But the price point at the high end of these "family" vehicles is getting truly out of hand.
My mother wants one of these bad. XD I'm surprised you made it through Florida without getting covered in bug guts. Every time we go down there we end up with a gooey white paint job courtesy of love bugs.
Thanks for the review Steve. I'm interested in knowing if the ride in an SLE or SLT (non-Denali) Acadia is just as good as in the Acadia Denali. How much "comfort" is lost in the non-Denali trims? Do you believe your trip from NY to FL would have been equally as pleasant had you driven an Acadia SLT for example? Thanks again.
I think a rear liftgate window opening like all suv's should have would be a really nice feature on this vehicle, push button start, more power especially for the Denali trim, should have turbo charged this V6 or made it more powerful. Adjustable pedals would be a nice touch and a better manageable AWD/Suspension system. For that price it's easily conceivable and within that price, I'm afraid what's offered for 50k in this vehicle is vastly disappointing. GM has been offering very little considering their high price tags and what competitors offer. Add poor reliability record, not a good sale...
Your 'feel' is only subjective and not belied by the actual facts. I completely disagree with your opinion regarding the Eco Boost engine, it is a very refined mill and incredibly powerful.
Great review Steve. I just picked up a 2014 Denali thanks to this and couldn't be happier!!!
I love the beauty of its exterior design.
Seeing as how no one is drag racing an Acadia vs. an Explorer, the way it feels is equally if not more important. The 3.6-liter engine feels every bit as quick in highway passing maneuvers and more refined in general than the Ford's EcoBoost.
Thanks for all the family love. We enjoyed the trip and the ride.
I got mid level model in February. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the Acadia drives. Love the new look too. Excellent vehicle, recommend it highly.
Comes out of the side of the seat towards the center of the Acadia. Pretty cool video of it if you search it.
Welcome back, Steve! It's good to see you doing car review videos again!
That GMC Acadia looks good even in normal trim, the Denali tops it off nicely.
GM deserves credit for the freshening.
Remember, this is just a refresh...a darn good one...but some dated items like not having smart key are still present. Small, last gen navi, too.
Good review Steve!!! I really like the updates that GM has made to these crossovers and I think the Traverse looks ALOT better now than before..
Love this crossover trio! Great review Steve. nice family!
Thanks! But I'm back at work and cooking up LOTS of new reviews...Hyundai Santa Fe, Infiniti M56, Ford C-MAX Energi, Ford Explorer Sport, '14 Subaru Forester, Ford Fusion Hybrid, Subaru XV Crosstrek, Ford Focus ST and Volvo S60 just in April.
this is the 8th rated car on reliability in the world says who
Solid review Steve! My wife and I love Disney as well and we prefer to drive than fly. I like the overall aesthetics of the Denali trim but where is the smart key? Why didn't GM put it as standard equipment in the Denali trim?
Better looking than the old one, great review!

20mpg is right in middle of the EPA numbers so that seems legit.
My neighbor recommended that to me. Have to try it next time.
Thanks for the great video Steve! I really wish I could buy one of those. They look amazing

What if your electric steering fails? It's a great safety feature. Sometimes you look and don't see...thus blind spot.
Yes, thanks! They asked permission.
This may be exensive(a Tahoe LTZ is just $6,000 more) but its well worth it. Interior quality looks great. The seats are great and visibility is good. The only flaw is that the rear end still looks old.
Congrats! Have fun!

Good to see you back - Spring Break test.
And the name of the Notre Dame bookstore?
If you've never driven a car of this size with side blind zone alert you don't know what you're missing.
Great review.

Hey Steve, I did the drive from Syracuse to cocoa beach fl last month. man is that a long haul
Great job Steve!!!, Enjoy your vacation, you deserve it!
Thanks! It was fun!
Nice, price is steep though...glad they updated the dash, it looked dated when it was new in '07?
I haven't been in one, but from this video It doesn't look like the interior quality has improved on GM's very much.

Sorry to hear this.
That is shocking; I hope your family is ok.
front center airbag?! Does it pop out from the nav screen or something?
it looks good, comfortable and fuctional. Entertainment, space, pep and tech.
steve are they continuing the sierra denali

I think you might need to add some tags to this video because there's no way this video should only have 19 views
How about the Buick Enclave? Or Chevy Traverse?

Steve -- that South of the Border truck stop in SC has got to be a tourist trap. Was it?
This guy. I love my new Acadia, and I think the price point is spot on compared with other luxury crossovers. If you think the Acadia is pricey, check out the new grand cherokees or audi q7s.

Okay, its a great car for road travel, but is it reliable? I had the old one, and it had lots of problems.
Awesome! I wish I had one. Enjoy.
nice video steve !
Very well done vehicle. Thanks!
Thanks Steve! good real world test drive.
My mother wants one of these bad. XD I'm surprised you made it through Florida without getting covered in bug guts. Every time we go down there we end up with a gooey white paint job courtesy of love bugs.
So good it's worth it! Thanks!
This or the Buick Enclave?i cant decide i love both cars! their perfect for our family!
Hey steve could you review the 2013 honda civic and the jetta?
I like it! GMC, you did a good job with this new Acadia!
True
Thanks for the review Steve. I'm interested in knowing if the ride in an SLE or SLT (non-Denali) Acadia is just as good as in the Acadia Denali. How much "comfort" is lost in the non-Denali trims? Hello, Efrain. The FE2 suspension is standard across the board so the Denali perks are more comfort and convenience items.
They're my peeps!
Thanks!
Great video Steve.
I don't do those kinds of pieces. When I like something I say it.
Great review steve u had a nice family
Great review Steve!
love the acadia's new look
Very good review! Great looking car!
buick enclave or acadia denali???
I love the look of this one!!
Did you know GMC posted this on their FB page?
Sincere review. Appreciate.
Tell me about it!
Very nice review

Great video!
Q7 headlight?
Blessed!
Yes amazing car i own this
What a great review ! Make me to purchase or lease one this weekend:)
Missing that vehicle and that vacation. Can't believe that was a year ago already!
So,may I ask you what vehicle you own now?
Diana Liu I haven't owned a car since 2002 but I did just inherit my dad's 2001 Tacoma V6 Prerunner.
very nice car and nice headlamps
accutually, the Denali lineup is very profitable for GM...
Digging your HellyHansen T-shirt with the Norwegian flag !
that front end should have been put on the yukon denali
Both are on here. Just search on my channel.
that steering wheel!
do you that hammes is Arabic food ??!!! ,and great review
Why would you need a 7 passenger SUV for a family of 3?
Your 'feel' is only subjective and not belied by the actual facts. I completely disagree with your opinion regarding the Eco Boost engine, it is a very refined mill and incredibly powerful.
You can say that about most GM vehicles, I'm afraid. I'd rather buy a Ford. At least you know what your getting is worth the price.
I'd be shocked if a lot of consumers buy this vehicle at over $51,000.
everything looks cool except for the outdated steering wheel. GM please update your steering wheels!
As far as I know.
Bonjour!
