I like it when commentator Neil calls hands-on Neil an idiot. Hindsight is a beautiful thing. Took two of us 6 hours to get the alternator out of my 159. Another six to get it back in. PITA
You definitely took the alternator out from the top last time because I rewatched the video like 100 times while doing mine! I took the radiator out which helped with the space issues.
The clutch pedal cylinder (cabin) is usually the first to go. The exhaust noise is usually the dreaded manifold crack on cyl 4. That alternator regulator is too close to the turbo heat, typical 20vt fault! Me I put a cooling hose directed from the front grille, worked for the rest of my ownership at least! I always removed the rad fans first - made it all easier
Was thinking , as well as taking off that mount , it might of been even easier to take out the fan assembly , that frees up much space. Still , you got there in the end....That Coupe wants to live as that engine seems sweet , and the engine is the heart & soul of these cars.......Good vid.
There's a 2 litre 16v quietly mouldering away in the yard behind Keswick Motors, in Keswick of all places, it's a very similar colour if not the same. Been there at least 5 years that I know of, might be worth a phone call for a source of spares, doubt it's going anywhere soon.
I see you got a new alternator.theres a place in Stechford that recons starters and alternators for great prices.... Rotating Electrics Ltd. This coupe is fighting you. Grest video.
Much as the 5 cylinder 20 v model was praised, the access for maintenance is far from being the “May West”. I presume the earlier 4 cylinder 16 valve was much easier, Iain ?
Good one, Neil. In your opinion, what is a normal/average life of brake fluid in wet climat? I know, most manufacturers quote 2 years change in maintenance manuals, but i’m curious to hear advice from you. Cheers!

Not sure what's worse. This or the alternator on a 147 GTA. Both due to the engine not designed for the car I suppose. Good work Neil.

Eurocarparts 😂 The work of Beelzebub - always a joy and lottery to see what they deliver and has to go back 🤣
that alternator struggle is real!!
Ha Just saw this car pop up on my feed and it was on Chops Garage looking a lot worse for wear Glad to see it up and going
It was. Should be back in a few weeks for more work.
Nice to see a restoration on a coupe again
The frustration was strong in this vid very enjoyable
I can so relate to your problems with the alternator lol!
if the oil cooler pipes are fooked there is a guy on the alfa forum who makes -AN conversions from the oil filter he lives in Glossop
Brilliant video!!
Car looks nice, but I hate transverse mounted engines for the difficult service access

I use a local place but cust ordered his own.

I own a 16vt and it's easier to work on but room is still a bit of a premium
Then again, once you know the tricks there’s no big issues.
Superb car 😊
One day that vice is going to land on your toes, Niel! And don’t say nobody warned you when that day comes! 😁
6.5 years and still not fell off.
@@ItaliaAutos That is what all of them used to say. Especially those dragging one of their feet down Mainstreet. 😂

3 maybe a little more.
@@ItaliaAutos thanks man. Greetings from Serbia, Mito Benzina owner here🇮🇹
I'm surprised how different the placement of the accessories is from a Twin Spark, considering they're from the aame engine family.
Its because they’re not! The TwinSpark is based on the old Lampredi 16V
AHAHAH OH GOD
Watching this was painful, step back from the crack pipe
