Amazing interview as always guys! Kevin thank you for asking about the “Akira” reference. There were so many people in the showing I went to yesterday who didn’t even know about it. So glad it was an homage to that film. You guys knock every interview you do out of the park! Would love for you all to get a long format interview with him like you have with Tarantino. Hell, I’d love for you all to moderate a round table with Peele, Nolan, and Tarantino. That would be phenomenal!
Loved NOPE. You guys took the words out of my mouth. Fantastic interview. Hope Mr. Peele does a q&a screening soon. Also, Fry's Electronics NoHo getting a shout out in my eyes, was beautiful as a L.A native.
So stoked that you guys were able to talk to Jordan! Would love another SPOILER filled interview with him in the future! Movie is a terrifying spectacle.
@@biggs2560 Can you actually explain your position? I have been a cinephile my whole life and have been following interviews/conversations with directors for decades and youre either in denial or have bad taste if you dont recognize these guys get great interviews from the directors they interview. There is a reason tjey have gotten Tarantino on multiple times and he has said they're one of the best interviews hes ever done. Im gonna go with what QT says over what "Biggs25" has to say. Ya dig?
My god, I loved this movie. I left this movie with a feeling I've never felt before. At first I was confused, as my expectations were completely subverted and defied, I felt juked. But now I see what Peele was going for, and it's so much deeper than I first imagined. Saw the movie 24 hours ago and It hasn't left my mind since. There is so much to puzzle over and contemplate, can't wait for round 2.
Bro SAME FUCKING THING. I wanted a big twist/reveal but him ending it the way he did leaves you with a crazy feeling of wonder and terror. What did the whole chimp going crazy on the TV set have to do with the story though? And the floating shoe?
@@HIGHTS I was wondering the exact same thing. The floating shoe has me confused af, but I think the chimp mainly is used to show how certain things are unable to be tamed. The horses can be, but the chimp and Jean jacket could not. Otherwise, maybe the “nope” or “not of planet earth” has to do something with it, the lady in the TV show says nope before the chimp attack.
26:44-27:05 confirms Peele definitely emulating Tarantino in a specific aspect. His usage of timelines in NOPE really made me think of Tarantino. Also crazy how Peele’s relationship with Nolan was touched upon as this movie is Nolan-esque with the whole film thing AND the “movie about making a movie” aspect of it.
You guys are the best for what you do!! Superior questions and good fun with lot of technical work references and that’s the best!! Pls keep doing this more as like always
Saw nope last week. It was absolutely incredible and I can’t agree with the guys more on their thoughts. Cannot wait to see what Jordan peele does next and can’t wait for more episodes guys this was amazing
The scariest moment for me, as a kid, was when I saw Shutter Island, and that lady 🤫 at DiCaprio in the beginning. For some reason, that disturbed me a lot
They’re so right about hearing songs on film, and then thinking of that film everytime you hear the song. Everytime I hear “Stuck in the middle with you” I immediately think of the Reservoir dogs torture scene.
Nope was a loving tribute/homage to classic Spielberg, in particular Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and especially Jaws. So many brilliant Spielbergesque qualities to this movie, from the characters and music to the cinematography and old Hollywood 1950’s style visual effects with the UFO. But it also reminded me of classic Alfred Hitchcock. The way that Jordan Pelle builds tension and suspense in this film( as well as all his films)and the suspense and buildup is better than the payoff, just like Hitchcock used to do. Even touches in the film reminded me of classic Rod Serling era Twilight Zone in the vastness and scale and scope of the environment and focus on a small number of characters in a mysterious unusual situation throughout
Though I didn't see it in the theater, I also want to shout out The Blair Witch Project as another movie that scared me for a long time. The Ring and Blair Witch Project freaked me out more than any other movie. Also, honorable mention to The Grudge; that freaked me out, too.
Nope doesn’t come out over here in the UK for a little while which is a shame. Very excited to see it, love both of Peele’s films so far. Great episode guys
There are nothing better than the director cuts especially with deleted scenes. I love when the director talks over the movie, when there are alternate endings and it all.
This may sound silly, but the kitchen scene in Paranormal Activity 3 where the ghost lifts everything in the kitchen had me shaking in my seat. The camera pov is rotating back and forth. The audience and the character sees what happens at the same time. Then Boom! Everything falls from the ceiling. I was freaked out
Great interview - I'm curious what Kevin's thoughts are on the fact that during NOPE they made a point to show a character using 'IMAX' being filmed (documentary style) within the movie but choose not to show that actual footage. I really thought that was a missed opportunity to not switch between footage and immerse you in what he was capturing. I kept thinking that final credits would show what was recorded by hand in the final sequence. Did anyone else think that?
I was under the impression that Angel screwed up whilst reloading the camera (sidenote: I've only seen it once so far and may be wrong about this. However: the time it takes to reload is one if the most common complaints with IMAX and I though it all went down a bit too fast for it to have been successful), plus Holst never confirmed he got the shot. Might have been a deliberate decision to not show any recorded footage. After all, the thing that was notable about the Gordy incident was the fact that there's no recording of it either.
Oh shit.. I think I jus realised.. Jordan peele is secretly on his way to becoming a super arthouse director... he is gona go in that super post modern realm...
I actually think, despite not particularly liking his last two films and not being a fan of constant cultural tropes he uses, Peele could do a Akira adaptation. Because if I’m honest, after Love and Thunder, I don’t want Taika anywhere near it if he ends up doing it for real.
for #MysteryBlend I am going with Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes (2009). Downey is perfect as Sherlock Holmes, his chemistry with Jude Law is spot on, and I love the supernatural aspects of the mystery. With a great Zimmer score to go as well.
Great pick, Kristian! You've been selected to receive one of our Mystery-themed Movies Anywhere triple packs. Please drop us an email or send a DM on Twitter to confirm you want a code, and we'll send it your way.
First time watcher great show guys. I couldn’t help though in your marvel tier to not see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of madness in your ranking. What happened to that?
Welcome to the show! Looks like just a glitch in TierMaker. You can see the full tier list here: tiermaker.com/list/marvel-dc/all-marvel-movies-mcu-2021-183266/2344947 We dropped MoM in C.
my #ScaredBlend has to be "The Blair Witch Project", it's when my imagination has to do the heavy lifting is when I am most scared, which is what "The Blair Witch" did :P I had all the lights on at night for 2 weeks after I saw that movie LOL
Does anybody else get overwhelmed my Kevin's long questions? He gives his whole life story before getting to the question which usually changes 3 or 4 times along the way.

Notice how 90% of this interview is about jus dazzle but no heart or story. This movie was jus a meta technical cool visual n sound n theme. Zero story zero entertainment.. and the most hurtful thing about me leaving this comment is I am a HUGGGEE J.Peele fan.. :(

The ending of the Spanish language version of REC is the scariest shit ever
The movie didn't surprised me like people are claiming. The story seemed very straightforward and easy to understand with no big twists or anything
