I think the -25% ended today. I was going to buy it but was away. Got back to find the price went back to full :.( Anyway great vid as always Simo. Would love to see you play more of this game.
LOVING this game so far. It really is a nice alternative to Battle Brothers imo. It's also a bit more of an RPG experience. Region locked is where it is at. I like to challenge tougher areas before im ready and not a big fan of scaling enemies. I love that you can even change that option.
Only think Battle brothers and this game share is the mercenary management and being in a medieval location. That's pretty much it, I don't see them as competitors perse because they feel and play very different from each other.
@@wu1ming9shi They feel different and play different but the concept is pretty similar. That was all that was said above that it could be a serious competitor in the run a group of medieval mercs.
The main problem is that combat becomes incredibly tedious the more troops you have. Manually distributing 20+ units at the start of every battle because the random placement tends to be horrible becomes very boring very fast, but you have to do it because not doing so tends to end up making each battle unnecessarily long, assuming it doesn't fuck your team up by placing your light units right by the teeth of the nearest bear.
You always sound like you’re smiling while recording which in turn puts a smile on my face. Great content as always That cheeky dark and darker music at the end got my neurons fired up
I'd love a Mercenary company game set in an alternate and modern world(like today's world) where you control and manage a PMC in the heat of a world war where you'd have to make tough tactical and moral decisions such as "Do I save the civilians or just leave and not risk your soldiers" and overtime your renown increases due to news outlets and journalists talking about your PMC Maybe to spice it up make it as difficult as a game like Xenonauts and of course drones, tanks and armored vehicles and artillery would make it incredibly unique to other mercenary games since those games are set in the medieval age
Excellent video. Explained just enough, without getting bogged down in it. Showed the game well. Been aware of Wartales, I think it's even on my wishlist, but hadn't really taken a good look at it. I'm definitely more interested in giving this a try now...and soon!
It's been max like 5 days but I already miss Simo content, I must be in Valhalla, this is the promised land. This production of content is too good to believe
I'm so excited to see you play this man, I have been waiting for the full release of this bad boy. I have played every round of open beta or soft release they have had and all the updates to see it this far and the big Brother Simo, the BEST Merc captain I have ever seen. Take up this game, man. I'm excited to see Simo the Merc captain. I would follow into the blood swamp, full of bear's and Crocoswines!
I am two minutes into the video and I am already sold with the Character Customisation.... now to pull out the wallet with the rest of the video playing on the side
I literally just "beat" this game like 15 mins ago. The new Drombach region feels a bit rushed unfortunately but the boss fight in the tomb is pretty epic (and difficult). Overall everything else is really awesome. Great game, easily worth full price on steam. Oh and if youre just starting dont pick scaling difficulty, just go with region locked, trust me
Got this game a few weeks before full 1.0 release and put in 100 hours within like a week, after 1.0 its only gotten better, and I can see myself putting in a shit ton more, amazing game!
I hope the devs will one day rethink their approach to co-op gameplay. Currently it's just really poorly implemented in my opinion, where all players simply control some of the group's mercenaries. So you will have the same 4 people starting group as in single player, but you only get to maneuver 2 in battle while your co-op partner controls the remaining two. Instead I want each player to lead their own mercenary group independently from one another. There are some though decisions to make when it comes to whether or not the overworld map freezes in time during the other players' combat or not, but I am sure they could come up with a good solution if they tried. It'd just be much more fun if you could split up and weren't forced to run around together at all times.
Divinity: Original sin style ? The problem lies with ingame time and moving ai parties. Cos the battle will take 30 minutes but in 30 minutes ur co-opper will have crossed the entire map 3 times ;) and 2 weeks will have passed. So either u join his battle and help command his group while urs are frozen in time on the map. Otherwise i see very little ways to implement what u ask. Or they have to work with a fixed Camp time like camp time from 22.00 to 07.00 and the distance u travel will determine the time. But then u still have to wait for ur co opper to start the next day if he is in a fight and u just ran from point a to b. I dont think they implemented it poorly. Its just not implemented the way u want it... which is near impossible the way the game mechanics work. Unless u join ur Co oppers fight and take command of half his troops while ur mercenary band is frozen. Which is basically what u do now but with 1 mercenary group... Question would be why would u wanna co-op to just play with 2 different mercenary groups on same map?
Ooh boy. I just hope you come back to the beggar run in battle brothers. Battle brothers is what likely inspired this game. The origins in worthless ate way too similar to not be inspired.
I recommend doing a series in Wartales on a "captured recruits only" run. No recruiting/capturing from any of the 6 original classes. You start off with your basic 4 mercenaries but then slowly work towards recruiting more captured recruits into your party, later dismissing the original 4 and continuing on with your all captured recruits run. It's a lot more challenging in the beginning and requires more work to outfit them with the right items and skill, however, the end results feel far more satisfying, resulting into a lot of shenanigans that would play well with your style of video making. A beast-master run with animals/creatures is also pretty fun as well. (Think about the immortal mole rats for example or the plague-ridden creepers)
My quest to play every mercenary/bounty hunter game out there continues
The game is -25% off on steam right now if you wanna get it btw

battle brother way better than this
