Sometimes I wonder if the nominees are trying to squander a tiny bit of the questioning senator's allotted time even if it's just a few seconds at a time to reduce the total amount of time they'll be questioned.

And I have to question the competence of anyone claiming in an adademic paper that Reagan posessed "less than impressive intellectual capabilities". I've ranted on this elsewhere here, just say look up the 1967 "Town meeting of the World" debate between Reagan and Robert Kennedy. Look at how Reagan handled Kennedy, and the smarmy London college students, and he did it without looking supercilious or mean.

This article was written what, 17-18 years ago? It seems like all she would have to do to explain herself would be "Since that article I've Modified my views. Sixty years ago I wrote an article for my university newspaper entitled "A Troll Defined." The article made no sense whatsoever but was filled with highfallutin words and hackneyed expressions. To my astonishment, the editor of the newpaper published the article and within days it was the talk of the student union. But it didn't fool everyone. I showed it to my favorite English professor one day while he was eating lunch. He glanced at it for a minute or two, laughed out loud, and handed it back to me saying "Very nicely done." Now, six decades later, I see the United States Congress being hoodwinked by a similar undergraduate scam.

Its a Senate hearing. The entire purpose for her being there is to be asked questions. He is not doing her a favor. I can't stand the fluff.
It's her habit/tactic to give her brain a couple of seconds to think of her answer.
But yeah she could have just been straightforward and said nothing while she thought about answering. It would for sure have made her look less ridiculous and uncomfortable.

He had no intention of being fair to any, ANY Democratic nominated Nominees and you will see him give that treatment even if the nominee were a Republican Conservative but nominated under Biden's term.
