- This salesman invited me into his shop in Jaipur, India, on the premise that I could get a hoodie for under 1,000 rupees. He then showed me hoodies that he said cost 2,500 rupees.
It was only later when I was able to get other locals there to translate, that I realised their real price was 600 rupees and he also talked bad about my mother.
Avoid this salesman if you see him at Bapu Bazar, otherwise be prepared to be ripped off and insulted by him.

This situation would be avoided if Dale was accompanied by an Indian friend. The shopkeeper would be too scared to reveal his true character. Dale handled it ok and he quickly realised they were trying to scam him.

I'm the same when it comes to bargaining. Just say the price you think is fair and if they disagree just move on as soon as you can. That makes it a lot easier to deal with bargaining kinda places.
When they see you aren't messing around they're also more likely to just accept a fair price.

It would want to be silk for what these guys were trying to charge. They literally wanted $41 CAD for a hoody, knowing they're third world and have a massive textile industry even the initial offering of 600 rupees seems a little rich, I'd bet the locals don't pay that.
