Srt will be useful for vmix. One thing I wish they would implement is the ability to control destinations from the unit itself. The whole point of using it is you don’t have a good web connection but then if you want to swap a destination you have to log into the web portal

Can you please make a video on SRT setup with solo pro to Vmix

Would you recommend the HDMI only or SDI version for a run-n-gun backpack stream? I’m leaning towards the HDMI because of the cost, but worried I’m going to regret not getting the SDI. Which cases you think I would need the SDI over HDMI?
    Thank you and great video.

We always go with SDI but thats because we feel its a much more reliable cable choice. It also locks the cable in place.

Is the monthly subscription required to use the LiveU Pro? If I just wanted to stream from home using a single ethernet cable without the cellular bonding would I still be required to pay the $45/month or $450/year just to use the unit?

No. You can stream using a single connection for free but it’s rather pointless buying a LiveU just to do that.

I currently live stream weddings using Slingstudio and just hook up to the venues wifi and it works okay most of the time. But we want a more reliable set up. Would this Live U pro be good to use with slingstudio or is it overkill and I should buy just a cheaper portable modem and get two sims etc? Or is the LiveU pro perfect for my use case considering the sling studio is already an encoder etc

Can you use this for uploading videos to social media site or it’s strictly for streaming only? Thank you.

IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU BUY - The liveu Pro (and now the regular solo as well) touts it can send SRT (which is faster, more secure and has less packet loss the RTMP) - but the solo unit does not actually send SRT. I talked with LiveU support and they said the SRT endoding does not happen in the unit. It happens via the LRT cloud bonding. If you don't use LRT you don't get SRT. This means that the unit itself is not sending the SRT. And the whole point of using SRT (at least for me) is to reduce bandwidth needs and packetloss. Since SRT encoding does not happen in the device there is no bandwidth savings when you send the stream to the LRT cloud. Once the video hits the LRT cloud it gets converted to SRT and then sent where ever you direct it. So from the LRT cloud to your destination the bandwidth usage is optimized because of SRT. But that has no impact on your own bandwidth usage from the Solo unit to the LRT Cloud. So if anyone plans to use SRT to save bandwidth from the unit to the LRT cloud, it won't help at all. And, if you want to use SRT, you will need to PAY for the exspensive LRT.

The Bandwidth reduction comes from using H.265 encoding instead of H.264, not because of using SRT instead of LRT..
